You are absolutely right most people are concerned about increasing poverty which neither party can address as economic policy is determined by corporate lobbyists (legalized corruption). The only way to turn that tide is through unity to fight for true democracy
Louise, I totally agree. There is too much money and special interest that have power in our system. I don’t know how that will ever be solved, as the Supreme Court will not be changing its mind any time soon. It is very disheartening.

I have BC Garn Lino that I bought months ago to knit the pattern but stayed busy knitting other things. Now that the cooler months are here I want a different choice . What yarn are you going to use?

RUclips recommended this video to me and I've been thinking of knitting a Rannunculous for awhile now so I clicked. I'm so glad I did. You got a new subscriber out of it. I'm Canadian and have been absolutely horrified about the election results and sadly see my country headed down the exact same path. I enjoyed listening to you talk about your knits & yarn but I also really appreciate that you talked about the election in a way that felt good for you. I've been more than a little disappointed in a few other favourite knitting podcasts that have avoided the subject entirely.
I am so glad you are here and that you enjoyed the episode! It is hard to walk the line between sharing feelings on politics and offending people! But I think I’ve accepted that I can’t please everyone, so I just try to be honest! When something so huge happens in the world, it feels weird to ignore it. Along the lines of being real, no filter, etc. I couldn't help but notice that the warm unifying uplifting sentiments you shared at the end of your post match those expressed by the candidate who did NOT get the majority of the votes in this election. I agree with your approach and feel it's the only acceptable way to interact with our fellow humans. However I will NEVER understand how anyone could think voting against those values was a good idea and I will NEVER not be profoundly disappointed and ashamed of this election's results. We have a long difficult road ahead of us! 😢

I feel for you. The elections have also taken a toll on me. I grew up in the US even though I am not American. Even though I was disappointed (to say the least) I acknowledge that this was a normal result that represents our world today. What to do ? I will fight to death for the next generation. We need people to go back to rational thinking, to listen to what is being said, to think of the planet on a whole level and not just their personal unique lives. Yes we are all humain but from what have seen in life, humain is the only species taking every wrong turn they can. Let’s be more dog.
This is so so so true. We are the only species that takes far more than we need, and you can see it in the state of the world around us. I truly feel like my dogs are my greatest teachers. I aim to live my life even a tiny bit as present as they are. Take care of yourself 💜 We just keep knitting!

Also I love your outlook on how we all should look at things no matter who is president, I believe that we also need to be unified instead of divided. Hi Jackie! It’s heartbreaking that we are at this point in the world. I do feel like his lack of decency being in our faces for 10 years has numbed so many people and made it feel normal. We can’t let it become normalized. Sigh. It is heartbreaking to feel like we just have to watch the next four years from the sidelines. I hope Canada stays strong and doesn’t go down this road.

No, the country will NOT get through this just fine :-( There is a reason for election results like this, the people elected a proven moron. The society is sick. MAYBE there will be some HARD lessons LEARNED, or maybe (more likely) this will just further cementing the path of intellectual and spiritual and economic impoverishment of American society. Every empire had only a limited time of its glory, there are some HARD times ahead of us and our children, the future is grim.

I have made one Ranunculus and want to make another. I use markers as I knit some of the textured repeat stitches to save myself from tinking back. Like you, I want to make another soon. I just subscribed to your channel as I know I am going to love your content. I am with you about Addi needles for my bigger projects. I usually use lace tip needles for any lace knitting. Great suggestions. ❤

With the mohair hats, have you ever thought of doing like a mussleburgh and using the mohair only on the outside? It's a double thick hat, so you could keep the mohair out of the inside....
This is the best idea Angela. That way you get the halo without the mohair being directly against your head-so brilliant!! Now I’m beating myself up for not buying the matching mohair 😫 Darn it!!
Have you tried suri yarn! Its color is matted but you still would get the halo. Especially since the mohair is itchy for you. Mohair was itching for me too, even made my hands itch working it up. But it doesn’t bother me now. Love your podcasts as always!!❤

Hello from Mongolia, I'm an American teaching in Mongolia and consider myself an experienced knitter. The Ranunculus pattern has been with me for two years if not longer. However, I have never knit it. Why? I keep looking at the instructions for casting on 60 stitches and think, "No way" is that going to fit over my head. That's what I would cast on for a man's sock." Even the 6mm doesn't sway me. Clearly however this works. Your cast on recommendations are also most helpful. Delighted to have stumbled upon your podcast. Enjoy your knitting time.

It’s nuts how wonderful knitting people are. And on rav, so many people overjoyed, all ages, weights, countries, just over the moon about their projects. This country though, I fear we are in grave danger.
That red is not your typical color, but I think it will look stunning on you. It’s going to be amazing! I too am trying to just keep on being kind….but it’s like with the environment- it feels like it doesn’t make a difference at all. Like if I turn off the water when I brush my teeth- is it really helping? But I still do it. Same with kindness. Maybe it won’t change anything, but I refuse to give up.
I suppose its less about whether it is helping change things than it is that this is the person I want to be while I’m moving through the world. And that affects the quality of my life, as well as the quality of my relationships. Becoming hopeless and hateful will be the ultimate loss for us. That being said, I COMPLETELY understand the sense of futility and I feel it all the time too. We just can’t stay there for long.

OMG… snowing? I’m in the San Diego area and it’s still in the low 70s. But in the evenings and mornings I can wear my knitted socks and cardigans. Finally!! I’m planning on casting on my second Ranunculus soon. My first one I knitted in sport weight yarn but it’s still too warm for it. Maybe next week? I can’t wait

I am a federal worker in the health arena and so this could really impact me. But I will try to channel positivity and hope it goes well and time flies.

I have knit quite a few Ranunculus sweaters. Using stitch markers when doing the yoke is a life saver! Hope this helps 😻

I have BC Garn Lino that I bought months ago to knit the pattern but stayed busy knitting other things. Now that the cooler months are here I want a different choice . What yarn are you going to use?

RUclips recommended this video to me and I've been thinking of knitting a Rannunculous for awhile now so I clicked. I'm so glad I did. You got a new subscriber out of it. I'm Canadian and have been absolutely horrified about the election results and sadly see my country headed down the exact same path. I enjoyed listening to you talk about your knits & yarn but I also really appreciate that you talked about the election in a way that felt good for you. I've been more than a little disappointed in a few other favourite knitting podcasts that have avoided the subject entirely.

I agree with your approach and feel it's the only acceptable way to interact with our fellow humans. However I will NEVER understand how anyone could think voting against those values was a good idea and I will NEVER not be profoundly disappointed and ashamed of this election's results. We have a long difficult road ahead of us! 😢

I feel for you. The elections have also taken a toll on me. I grew up in the US even though I am not American. Even though I was disappointed (to say the least) I acknowledge that this was a normal result that represents our world today. What to do ? I will fight to death for the next generation. We need people to go back to rational thinking, to listen to what is being said, to think of the planet on a whole level and not just their personal unique lives.
Yes we are all humain but from what have seen in life, humain is the only species taking every wrong turn they can. Let’s be more dog.
This is so so so true. We are the only species that takes far more than we need, and you can see it in the state of the world around us. I truly feel like my dogs are my greatest teachers. I aim to live my life even a tiny bit as present as they are.

Hi Jackie! It’s heartbreaking that we are at this point in the world. I do feel like his lack of decency being in our faces for 10 years has numbed so many people and made it feel normal. We can’t let it become normalized. Sigh. It is heartbreaking to feel like we just have to watch the next four years from the sidelines. I hope Canada stays strong and doesn’t go down this road.

There is a reason for election results like this, the people elected a proven moron. The society is sick. MAYBE there will be some HARD lessons LEARNED, or maybe (more likely) this will just further cementing the path of intellectual and spiritual and economic impoverishment of American society. Every empire had only a limited time of its glory, there are some HARD times ahead of us and our children, the future is grim.

I have made one Ranunculus and want to make another. I use markers as I knit some of the textured repeat stitches to save myself from tinking back. Like you, I want to make another soon. I just subscribed to your channel as I know I am going to love your content. I am with you about Addi needles for my bigger projects. I usually use lace tip needles for any lace knitting. Great suggestions. ❤

With the mohair hats, have you ever thought of doing like a mussleburgh and using the mohair only on the outside? It's a double thick hat, so you could keep the mohair out of the inside....
This is the best idea Angela. That way you get the halo without the mohair being directly against your head-so brilliant!! Now I’m beating myself up for not buying the matching mohair 😫 Darn it!!

Have you tried suri yarn! Its color is matted but you still would get the halo. Especially since the mohair is itchy for you. Mohair was itching for me too, even made my hands itch working it up. But it doesn’t bother me now.

Hello from Mongolia, I'm an American teaching in Mongolia and consider myself an experienced knitter. The Ranunculus pattern has been with me for two years if not longer. However, I have never knit it. Why? I keep looking at the instructions for casting on 60 stitches and think, "No way" is that going to fit over my head. That's what I would cast on for a man's sock." Even the 6mm doesn't sway me. Clearly however this works. Your cast on recommendations are also most helpful. Delighted to have stumbled upon your podcast. Enjoy your knitting time.

Hi Kimmy! I just cast on with a long tail cast on and its plenty wide. I do a mix of German Twisted and regular long tail in order for it to be a little stretchier.

It’s nuts how wonderful knitting people are. And on rav, so many people overjoyed, all ages, weights, countries, just over the moon about their projects. This country though, I fear we are in grave danger.
That red is not your typical color, but I think it will look stunning on you. It’s going to be amazing!
I too am trying to just keep on being kind….but it’s like with the environment- it feels like it doesn’t make a difference at all. Like if I turn off the water when I brush my teeth- is it really helping? But I still do it. Same with kindness. Maybe it won’t change anything, but I refuse to give up.
I suppose its less about whether it is helping change things than it is that this is the person I want to be while I’m moving through the world. And that affects the quality of my life, as well as the quality of my relationships. Becoming hopeless and hateful will be the ultimate loss for us.
That being said, I COMPLETELY understand the sense of futility and I feel it all the time too. We just can’t stay there for long.

I was totally with you last week when it comes to my political views, but this week I am struggling--who he is appointing to lead this country is truly scaring me. I am a federal worker in the health arena and so this could really impact me. But I will try to channel positivity and hope it goes well and time flies.

The Addi Rockets have much sharper tips than the Addi Turbo. I find both equally smooth. I also have a set of Chiagoo interchangeables.
