Along the lines of being real, no filter, etc. I couldn't help but notice that the warm unifying uplifting sentiments you shared at the end of your post match those expressed by the candidate who did NOT get the majority of the votes in this election. I agree with your approach and feel it's the only acceptable way to interact with our fellow humans. However I will NEVER understand how anyone could think voting against those values was a good idea and I will NEVER not be profoundly disappointed and ashamed of this election's results. We have a long difficult road ahead of us! 😢
Thank you for sharing about the week and the election and how you’re responding with grace and with the focus on connection with others. I feel that. You articulated it so perfectly in a way that I couldn’t.
You are absolutely right most people are concerned about increasing poverty which neither party can address as economic policy is determined by corporate lobbyists (legalized corruption). The only way to turn that tide is through unity to fight for true democracy
Louise, I totally agree. There is too much money and special interest that have power in our system. I don’t know how that will ever be solved, as the Supreme Court will not be changing its mind any time soon. It is very disheartening.
@@AnotherKnittingPod It is disheartening which is why your message is important. I believe our intentions and thoughts have more power than we realize. Holding the intent of unity and understanding people are being mislead with false promises to meet real needs might be all we can do right now but it might be more than we think.
I feel for you. The elections have also taken a toll on me. I grew up in the US even though I am not American. Even though I was disappointed (to say the least) I acknowledge that this was a normal result that represents our world today. What to do ? I will fight to death for the next generation. We need people to go back to rational thinking, to listen to what is being said, to think of the planet on a whole level and not just their personal unique lives. Yes we are all humain but from what have seen in life, humain is the only species taking every wrong turn they can. Let’s be more dog.
Hi Julie-thank you for your kind words. We will absolutely hope and work for a brighter future. There will always be setbacks but we move in the right direction 🙏
RUclips recommended this video to me and I've been thinking of knitting a Rannunculous for awhile now so I clicked. I'm so glad I did. You got a new subscriber out of it. I'm Canadian and have been absolutely horrified about the election results and sadly see my country headed down the exact same path. I enjoyed listening to you talk about your knits & yarn but I also really appreciate that you talked about the election in a way that felt good for you. I've been more than a little disappointed in a few other favourite knitting podcasts that have avoided the subject entirely.
So jealous of the snow. Thank you for going where you went….this week has been devastating to me and it’s been a struggle to try and understand…but I want to. I haven’t been this despondent in quite a while. It has helped that Purl Soho is currently 25% off…..haha.
I love it when a video of yours pops up! I’m an amateur ambitious beginner knitter. I’ve had the Ranunculus on my mind. When I get to it, I’d love to make it in that yarn and that color! Omg what a wonderful message I needed to hear right now. Thank you. 🥰
You can totally make the Ranunuculus! Her pattern writing is amazing in helping you visualize what you are creating. She is truly a talented and unique designer. Thank you for watching and thank you for your message! It means so much to me!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts ❤ I agree. If anything, all these results have done have made me concerned for the wellbeing of my fellow Americans. Something is not right and further divisiveness will not fix it.
The outcome of last week was BAZAAR - love that you’ve taken solace & joy from your beautiful Lab!!…. if only someone else could be so humble & thoughtful😢😢
Hello from the UK from a new subscriber! I clicked because of the title (I’m thinking of knitting a Ranunculus soon) but I’m staying because I connected with your wise and heartfelt words. ❤
Exactly where I am! I came for the Ranunculus, staying for the absolute thrill of finding this lovely soul. I’m Canadian. I have BC Garn Lino that I bought months ago to knit the pattern but stayed busy knitting other things. Now that the cooler months are here I want a different choice . What yarn are you going to use?
@kathykeller3430 My first one (because I anticipate knitting more than one!) will probably be some sort of stash buster. I've not had a good dive yet but probably one of the pretty but thrifty finds I've accumulated over the years like the cone of pink sparkly yarn I bought from a charity shop recently 😁
Thank you Jennifer!! So happy and grateful to have you. I love connecting from those of you in different countries-it makes the world feel smaller and warmer. Good luck with your first Ranunculus! You will be addicted!
Thank you so much for sharing such insightful and beautiful words. The algorithm showed me your podcast - this is the first episode I've watched - and I was subscribed not 10 minutes in. 🥰!
I’m from Canada, thank you for the tips around the Ranunculus. It has been a rough week but it helps immeasurably to have you share your uplifting thoughts. Onwards!
You should be the Presidents guest and have you say exactly what you did at the end of your podcast. Thank you for reminding me to love everyone and give my fellow human, my best.
Aw, thank you so much. I believe deeply in the power of coming from a place of kindness. It’s never an easy road but it’ll be much worse if we become angry and embittered.
Needless to say I really enjoyed your episode today, but I have to say, the second half of your episode was the most inspirational, thoughtful and helpful speech I think I've heard in a very long time. Bravo Leena, exemplary episode.
Thank you for making this video and sharing your thoughts about Ranunculus. I’ve had the pattern for years, I just bought the yarn over the summer….I’m an experienced knitter and for some reason this one is daunting to me! Your thoughts and tips gave me more confidence to get to it. Also, I love that tomato color, too, it’s so good!
I'm knitting a Ranunculus at the moment as well Leena! My 6th! Each one looks so different as it's all about the different yarns I've used.... it's such a fun knit! Loved your inspiring words at the end. People need to hear it and come back together as a community. Let's all look out for each other ❤
Yes Karen! I don’t think we can expect those with differing beliefs to give us love and respect if we can’t do the same. It’s very hard with such polaring views, but if we’re mindful I believe we can!
Love your ranunculus ❤ and you last thoughts… kindness and humanity matters… hugs … I work in nursing in this is at the core of everyday and interaction with patients and everyone I meet…. So important
As a Canadian I feel your pain. I think your words are very wise even though it’s difficult to understand that decency and honesty don’t seem to matter to millions of people. Love your podcast every week.
Hi Jackie! It’s heartbreaking that we are at this point in the world. I do feel like his lack of decency being in our faces for 10 years has numbed so many people and made it feel normal. We can’t let it become normalized. Sigh. It is heartbreaking to feel like we just have to watch the next four years from the sidelines. I hope Canada stays strong and doesn’t go down this road.
You've shared some wise words today, they've given me a bit of peace. Canadian bleeding-heart liberal here...the world has been watching America in disbelief this past couple of weeks. I need to remember that I'm an eternal optimist, and your country will get through this just fine ❤. I wonder where Steven found your yarn???....I have to admit, I also searched around the Canadian yarn sites 😄
No, the country will NOT get through this just fine :-( There is a reason for election results like this, the people elected a proven moron. The society is sick. MAYBE there will be some HARD lessons LEARNED, or maybe (more likely) this will just further cementing the path of intellectual and spiritual and economic impoverishment of American society. Every empire had only a limited time of its glory, there are some HARD times ahead of us and our children, the future is grim.
lol!!! You made me laugh Sandra. Bleeding heart liberal here, too. Such is the way of the world, with history repeating itself. You are so sweet to have looked for the yarn too! I think the shop is called Creative Yarns 💚
Very wise words... thank you so very much for sharing your fresh and inspiring view on the timeless value of unconditionally loving each other. Dogs and cats are good at reminding us of this. I was watching your podcast with earphones, and I could hear your dog snoring near you... so adorable! I don't live in the U.S., but I followed the election and was gutted by the outcome. However life does go on. And I love your ranunculus. I have knit two of them and I look forward to knitting more. Cheers from Canada.
Thank you my friend for your sweet words! And yes-animals are such an inspiration to me. The instant forgiveness, the ability to stay present…what is effortless to them is so hard for us!
Hi just stumbled onto your channel and I am so grateful because I was feeling down, stuck, a d confused. Thank you for your thoughts on real life and ways to move forward. It was very encouraging. BTW, I love the color choice of your shawl.
Thank you again for your words of wisdom. You always have something kind and wholesome and very motivating to say. Your words have motivated me and brought me hope, and we really need to stay optimistic and hopeful and to keep fighting. Love and stitches ❤❤❤❤
I’m so glad, Heather. I think it also lets us feel like we have some control in a very hard situation. When we feel hopeless it makes everything so much worse.
Lena...you are truly a gift. Whether it is about knitting, parenting or being a human in a mixed up world, your words always strike a cord with me. lots of love xoxo
I seriously love you so much. I couldn’t agree more with everything you said. Every time I watch you I feel so connected. Thank you for being you and sharing. 💗
Thank you so much for keeping your podcast focused on love and kindness and not politics. I watch knitting and crocheting podcasts because I love fiber arts and the beautiful community of fiber artists. It is a place where, in my opinion, talking politics isn’t needed. On a different note, I live south of you; I too have enjoyed all the snow we have gotten in Colorado. ☃️❄️
I agree with you! I love that we all share this passion regardless of where we are from, and what we believe. We need to be brought together more and focus less on where we are different. I hope this is a snow filled season for us in CO!!
Thanks for keeping it real and speaking about the election and its aftermath. I worry that decency and civility will deteriorate further now, that public discourse will be filled with insults and hate. But you are right--we have to do what we can and hope that these small acts will add up. Have a good week and happy knitting! Always look forward to your next episode and your wise words😊
Hi Yael! I agree with you 100%. But the only way to counteract that energy is to persist with the opposite. It’s not a quick or easy solution but I’m not sure there is one…hope you are well and finding some peace this week. Lots of love to you.
Thank you for your wonderful chat!! Love your Ranunculus WIP - that color is spectacular!! I haven't yet successfully knit a Ranunculus, I'll have to give it another try.
Thank you for your tips on the ranuculous. I plan to cast that on very soon. The snow in Colorado was fabulous! I enjoyed two days of just baking bread and knitting here in Colorado Springs!
Lena 2028!! 😂 Yes, just yes yes YES to everything you stand for and so eloquently put out there. There are no words to express how my family and I have felt the past week. The silver lining among it all has been realizing I am not alone in my values. THANK YOU for sharing about the ranunculus (I've been avoiding the band wagon for no good reason but I am thinking I'll hop aboard next year), about your love for your dog (labs all the way!!!), and sharing how you've been feeling. I always feel a little weird commenting on social media sites because I never feel I adequately express myself but just know the joy you bring to my life just by being you and sharing in your fiber, your reading, and your parental journey. What a crazy ride we're all on but at least we're on it together!! ❤
First I want to say Happy Birthday to your daughter! 🎁 🎂🎈 🎉 Next I just want to thank you for sharing your thoughts at the end of the video. I couldn’t have said it any better than you did and that’s the way I have chosen to live as well. That said, your Ranunculus is going to be so amazing. That color is beautiful. 😍 Love you girl! 💕💖
Thank you Lena, your final words resonated with me so much! especially taking our beautiful furry friends' ability to live in the moment...life is still beautiful . Solace in nature ❤
Hi Hanna! Thank you for watching. And yes the Ranunuculus is really unbeatable. It blows my mind how fast it goes! Maybe because its so hard to put down!
I have been watching and loving your podcast from the very first one. ❣️ (And agree with you on Ranunculus, as I have knit sixteen of them myself.) I wish your words regarding our current situation in the US could be heard by every single person who voted. Is it possible to be cynical and optimistic at the same time? Because I am old, and hold the cynical belief that the people who need to hear your message the most would dismiss it out of hand as being too "bleeding heart", but yet I truly believed that a woman was going to get the chance to lead our country. (So add me to the Heartbroken "camp". ) 😥 I admire your outlook and will endeavor to keep it in mind. You are SO inspirational. ⚘️ I always look forward to seeing a new episode from you, Lena. ❣️
Hi Janet!! I’m right there with you. Both cynical and optimistic. At least they balance each other out 😂 I keep reminding myself that this is the way of the world. It was never promised to be smooth and easy. I will keep fighting to make positive changes, but I’d rather do it with peace in my heart than angst. We only get one life, after all. Thank you for watching from the very beginning. You have no idea how much it means to me. You all enrich my life so much. Lots of love 💜
Omg! Snowing already!! It’s almost 80 degrees here in Georgia. I am jealous!!! The difference in weather across the country always amazes me. I always look forward to your videos! Thanks for sharing!
So good to see you again, dear friend!❤ Oh man do I know about getting over confident!!! lol just had to rip back 96 ROWS in a test knit! 😂 Maybe I’ve learned my lesson? I have learned to use markers between every repeat in a row for patterns like the textured stitches. It keeps me straight! Oh and that color is going to be AMAZING on you! Kindness and love to all❤
Hi Christy! 96 ROWS!!! That is brutal. I’m so sorry. You are a trooper to keep goign! I would have abandoned ship 😂 Stitch markers would have been super smart. Now that you remind me, I ended up doing that last time I made the Ranunculus. Should have done that this time! Lots of love to you!
Hello from Mongolia, I'm an American teaching in Mongolia and consider myself an experienced knitter. The Ranunculus pattern has been with me for two years if not longer. However, I have never knit it. Why? I keep looking at the instructions for casting on 60 stitches and think, "No way" is that going to fit over my head. That's what I would cast on for a man's sock." Even the 6mm doesn't sway me. Clearly however this works. Your cast on recommendations are also most helpful. Delighted to have stumbled upon your podcast. Enjoy your knitting time.
Hi Jacqueline! So exciting to connect with someone on the other side of the world. I think the cast on works just because its on such a huge needle. It makes a lovely wide neckline that is comfortable and feminine. Hope you enjoy knitting it!
Love that red!! Its going to look beautiful on you!!!! I have been wanting to make another ranoclous. It's the first sweater I ever made, and it was worth it. With the mohair hats, have you ever thought of doing like a mussleburgh and using the mohair only on the outside? It's a double thick hat, so you could keep the mohair out of the inside....
This is the best idea Angela. That way you get the halo without the mohair being directly against your head-so brilliant!! Now I’m beating myself up for not buying the matching mohair 😫 Darn it!!
I so so agree with all that you have just said that’s right where my heart has been also and that’s what I’ve been telling my friends that know me. That sweater isgorgeous. I have not made a Renunculas, yet and I am wanting to. I am a new knitter but I think I can do it
Hi Linda! Thank you for your message-I’m glad you are feeling the same way about staying open-hearted. This is the slow revolution our world needs. You can totally do the Ranunculus! It’s the best pattern for beginners because her directions are crystal clear. She has bent over backwards to make it easy to follow. Lmk how it goes!!
Love the red color of your yarn! Your Ranunculus is working up beautifully. I know what you are saying about the Addi needles. Yes, they are buttery, but a bit too blunt for the yoke work. Enjoyed this video as always.
Yes! Addis are so incredible in their feel! But the cords of the Chiaogoos are unbeatable for me. I wish all the needle makers would use the same technology.
Your words reflect my same thoughts. We have a choice to love and understand or build a brick wall around ourselves. I choose humanity! We were visiting our daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter in Denver before the snow hit. We had a wonderful time celebrating our granddaughter's second birthday. Since you are in that area, just want to mention we visited Anderson Farm to pick pumpkins. Oh my! Not sure if you took your children their but what an experience! Also have tickets to hear Dr Abraham Verghese speak this week. Our local Library system brings authors in and really looking forward to hearing him talk about his work. I know you like his writing. Take care y'all!
Hi Carol! How fun that you were here in CO! It sure snowed a lot-I loved every moment of it! I’m SO INCREDIBLY JEALOUS that you get to meet Abraham Varghese!!! He is truly one of the most inspirational people out there. Please report back on how it went!
The difference is the way the majority thinks that what is best for everyone is different on each side. It is not a win lose situation at least on one side that I have seen. I see hope for us in the future!
Have you tried suri yarn! Its color is matted but you still would get the halo. Especially since the mohair is itchy for you. Mohair was itching for me too, even made my hands itch working it up. But it doesn’t bother me now. Love your podcasts as always!!❤
Cashmere. That feels amazing on your head. There is a yarn that Art Yarns makes, and it's just one of their yarn bases. The Knitting Place has a speedy hat with a technique that requires you to use three strands without cutting the yarns; it's squishy and incredibly dreamy. The hat practically makes itself so fast. The base is called Cloud. It's nostalgic and beautiful. It feels like a cloud on your head. The colorways are fabulous. The pattern comes with the yarn. Dina shares the technique in a quick video. Using this method, make a glorious, squishy, multi-colored, delicious cashmere hat that will go with everything you own. It's so warm. It's to die for.
I agree!! It is heartbreaking that the systems that are meant to make the world run smoothly are filled with so much finger-pointing and hatred. I’m hoping we can turn the page on that at some point soon. Lots of love and take care of yourself!
OMG… snowing? I’m in the San Diego area and it’s still in the low 70s. But in the evenings and mornings I can wear my knitted socks and cardigans. Finally!! I’m planning on casting on my second Ranunculus soon. My first one I knitted in sport weight yarn but it’s still too warm for it. Maybe next week? I can’t wait
I would like to try doing a ranunculus one day, in red it looks amazing. I’m certain Americans made the best choice for their country after the last four years.
Hi Debbie! Thank you! I never thought I’d love red, but this tomato color is making me so happy. I too hope wonderful things happen for the country. Lots of love to you.
So interesting! These are the Rockets but not sharp enough for me. But I still love them! They are delightful to work with. Maybe I need to try the lace tips some time.

You absolutely should! The pattern is impeccable, so you just have to trust it even when it feels like its not right. Worth another go.
Thank you for your tips on the ranuculous. I plan to cast that on very soon. The snow in Colorado was fabulous! I enjoyed two days of just baking bread and knitting here in Colorado Springs!
Love the ranunculus and the color and also love that you took the time to film the chat. Thank you. I needed this today . Also, dogs are the best
Dogs are the best!!! Thank you for being receptive and giving me a space to share my thoughts and feelings. So grateful for you.
Thank you for the love my friend! 💚 Love you right back 🌈
@ 💕💖
Thank you Lena, your final words resonated with me so much! especially taking our beautiful furry friends' ability to live in the moment...life is still beautiful . Solace in nature ❤
Addi makes a lace line of needles with very pointy tips.
I'm gearing up to try making one of these sweaters. Thanks for the tips!
Beautifully expressed.
You are such a joy to listen to to. Enjoy your podcast!!❤
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you are here! 💜
Leena, thank you so much for your thoughtful inclusive words at the end of your podcast.
Thank you for hearing them, Suzy. Take care of yourself and be well 💚
Wonderful podcast!! I think your philosophy on life is right on. I’m very proud of being one of your listeners.
Oh Linda, what sweet words. Thank you so much for saying that. I’m grateful to have you in my corner. Lots of love 💜
Thank you for your beautiful words. It hit the spot today! I’ve knitted the Ranunculus twice, it’s such a great pattern.
At least they balance each other out 😂
I keep reminding myself that this is the way of the world.
I thoroughly agree and lovely people like you lift me up❤
Thank you Karen. We have to lift each other up, because there is no way around, only through. Take care of yourself!
Omg! Snowing already!! It’s almost 80 degrees here in Georgia. I am jealous!!! The difference in weather across the country always amazes me. I always look forward to your videos! Thanks for sharing!
So good to see you again, dear friend!❤
Oh man do I know about getting over confident!!! lol just had to rip back 96 ROWS in a test knit!
I would have abandoned ship 😂
Stitch markers would have been super smart.
Leena, thank you for sharing that beautiful message😘
Thank you Susan, I appreciate you.
I am so stinking happy with all the snow we have been getting! So wonderful!
I have yet to knit a Ranunculus, but I plan to do it next. I love the look of your 1st one so much! Did you do the wide neck cast on or smaller one?
I really respect your opinion. We will live everyday just as we have been and we must respect everybody
The difference is the way the majority thinks that what is best for everyone is different on each side. It is not a win lose situation at least on one side that I have seen. I see hope for us in the future!
Cheers to hoping for a brighter future!!! 🌈
Have you tried suri yarn! Its color is matted but you still would get the halo. Especially since the mohair is itchy for you. Mohair was itching for me too, even made my hands itch working it up. But it doesn’t bother me now.
Love your podcasts as always!!❤
This I needed It is 4:30 am I have been awake for hours. In my head I’m so sad.
The Addi Rockets have much sharper tips than the Addi Turbo. I find both equally smooth. I also have a set of Chiagoo interchangeables.
Thank you for the tips and suggestions! So helpful! I will definitely check out this yarn. And I agree, there is nothing more lovely than cashmere!
Great message and well said. Love and respect is the most important thing and we need to practice it now more than ever.
Absolutely-maybe it is a silver lining of the times we live in. Here’s to hoping practicing love and respect will make perfect 🥰
Beautifully expressed ❤
Thank you so much 💜
Thank you. The world would be better without so much hate and politics is making it so difficult for us to understand why!!
I agree!! It is heartbreaking that the systems that are meant to make the world run smoothly are filled with so much finger-pointing and hatred. I’m hoping we can turn the page on that at some point soon. Lots of love and take care of yourself!
The colour of your rannunculus is amazingly stunning! Seriously a beautiful colour for you. May I ask what the weight is? DK,Fingering or Worsted?
Hi! Thank you! The yarn is by Ritual Dyes in the Maven base, which is a non-superwash fingering weight yarn.
I agree with you ,WE ARE ALL AMERICANS
What is the name of the shawl you are wearing….it’s gorgeous
Thank you Kathy! It is the Bubbles and Brioche Shawl by Stephen West. I highly recommend it-great way to use up precious bits of leftover yarn 🌈
Thank you for the new direction of my extreme sickening disappointment!
We must find hope, Holly! We can be sickened and disappointed but we have to find a way to move forward. I believe in us. 💜
❤ thank you for your beautiful words and wisdom xxx
You're so welcome!! Sending you love! 💗
❤
Oh I think you made your political feelings very well known! This American was thrilled ❤
😘
I would like to try doing a ranunculus one day, in red it looks amazing.
I’m certain Americans made the best choice for their country after the last four years.
Hi Debbie! Thank you! I never thought I’d love red, but this tomato color is making me so happy.
I too hope wonderful things happen for the country. Lots of love to you.
Leena....I feel you❤
💜
Wow…I will try…to live the path...thank you!
Thank you as always for watching Valeriea! So grateful to have you here 💗
Addi had lace tips super sharp and Rocket tips sharp and Turbos dull❤
So interesting! These are the Rockets but not sharp enough for me. But I still love them! They are delightful to work with. Maybe I need to try the lace tips some time.
One Love ❤
Thank you!
Thank you
Thanks for watching Jennifer!
❤❤❤

Why not knit a double brimmed hat with no mohair on the inside, then you can still get the halo.
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing knitting and all the insights, as well as being so genuine, you are such an inspiration ❤🙏
Thank you so much my friend 💜 Grateful to have such a beautiful community.
you refusing to take a political stance is in itself political. it says a lot.
