- Activist Nika Kovac and her team are on a mission to address the rise of online hate speech towards women in Slovenia fueled by powerful men. As well as pushing for legal reform, they are touring the country to hear people's experiences and recruiting an army of volunteers to counter the hate with kindness and love. #CNN #News
Nika is one of the most priviliged individuals in Slovenia. Her grandfather a former communist butcher, her dad a publisher. She truly believes she is entitled to privilege. God help those who disagree with her. Luckily she has MSM on her side. Including CNN.
There is so much hatred out there, it is heartwarming to see her and her allies fight back. Love always wins. Always ✌🏾

If I go online under my name and just state an opinion, I’m instantly attacked and threatened. If I change my name to a mans name and make the same opinion, they may argue with me but they don’t attack, or threaten violence.

Once a group identifies itself in certain roles or with any sort of status, if you disparage that status or role you are perceived by those who define themselves by those roles and status to be an existential threat.
Which is why they respond by attacking the messenger instead of disputing the message, or through stochastic terrorism, or in extreme cases, through actual violence.

One of the things we can all do is report every hate comment, after repeated reports they will close their channel down. Even if they make a new channel we can continue to report them. We all can’t do big things but we can do this and at least feel like we’re doing something to fight the hate. ❤️

No, not at all. That is censorship of speech. If I remember correctly that falls under the First amendment.
We learn kids languages, maths, etc... and it is all important. But learning kids kindness and developing a good heart, respect for life, good communication and a healthy self-esteem is essential. Educators should reflect on the benefit for relationships, communities and world peace of a healthy emotional development.

Amerifats still eating up the biased media drama. Nika is one of the privileged ones in the society, we call those "kaviar socialists". Her "institute" is milking on the taxpayers money. She was hardcore against Slovenian previous government and she gave full support to the Slovenian current government. When the current government does the same shit as the previous one, her organization is quiet. To me, I don't know the difference between current and previous govt. The current one gave her institute a few 100k, and the previous didn't. Mindblown? Someone does something to her audience, she gets mad. Someone from her circle does the same thing to others, her institute does the full circle of mental gymnastic to justify it. Her family has been around the govt money for generations. And of course everyone knew that's where Nika was headed long time before she got famous.
I don’t know if there are laws in Slovenia that protect against defamation or threats to personal safety but if she hasn’t already she should talk to a lawyer to find out if there is legal recourse. Good luck to her.
The laws do exist and they won several cases, but Janša pays the fine and continuous on with that kind of behaviour.

Quite simplified view - while these definitely have connections with centrist liberals, the other side is much more darker and their social view are incompatible with freedom and democracy.

I think there will always be some of that hatred of straw men and I agree the negative emotions shouldn't be quashed. Violent speech, however, should *not* be condoned and people who say such things over time can drive themselves to think violence is ok.
The most concerning thing in recent years is how politicians and news media have taken up these comments and increased the volume, all for performative politics or likes. We should be able to expect more from our leaders than this sort of behavior. These "leaders" pump up the strawman descriptions of real people and cause them to be attacked.

Violent speech is either a direct threat of physical harm or inciting fear for one's life/safety (includes doxing/stalking) OR suggesting others do the same.

I think silence in the face of bigotry is acquiescence to it but that is their choice and they can remain silent. Inaction *is* a choice and can earn a response for taking that position. You don't get a free pass (or else you are then stifling other speech, right?).
I don't know what "rigging elections" you are referring to other than legislators disenfranchising voters, but the primary response to bigot/"strongman"/authoritarian/nationalist prospective leaders should be with more speech. Unfortunately that often leads to threats in response :(.

Im interested in cycles, cycles of different types (economic, political), this is expected for the phase of the cycle we are in.
Strauss-Howe describes this as the crisis phase, the fourth turning, the phase of great inequality, conflict and social upheaval.
It does not mean we will certainly have war, it can be avoided.
Everyone can feel it, we have (necessarily) well evolved sympathetic nervous systems, "the great reset" as people are calling it can be felt by everyone.
A new monetary system will come for sure, high productivity (technologies such as A.I) could mean we have a super cycle and break historical trends to avoid catastrophe.

It was good to see older women at the Love Campaign. It shows men that ALL women support what you’re doing, and that you’re not just a group of a few young women stirring up “trouble” for the “natural order”. The more you have women of all ages involved, the more this will look like a movement and become a movement. I am so sorry hate is on the rise again. We enjoyed more support from more men for a time. But, the toxic masculinity movement has given white men the false idea that they are the top of the human food chain all over again. Another reason movements like yours are important is because most white men want white women. It’s important that they can’t find women who tolerate toxic masculine values at home. These men need to come to accept that their time has passed that they are no more or less important than people of any race, gender, etc. If marginalized people in societies determine to isolate men from what they want unless they decide to become better people, they will continue to feel entitled to run everything and influence the values of same societies. Find those mothers and grandmothers who lived through gender oppression in their time to speak on behalf of your time. Get security.

I agree with everything you said and believe we need a chapter of this group in every country. But I must say that even though most of the online hate is due to white men, the other races have their fair share of misogyny too and it also needs to be called out.
