Eh, there should be a minimal attempt made. If there is a chance he will be tortured and killed he is owed at least that for signing up for the military to begin with. We shouldn't make it a message to our service members that their lives have no value and theyre expendable.

No, justice has not been served. There is no “justice” in North Korea for anyone, and we have no idea how they’ll treat him (depending on how much he cooperates). He needs to be brought back court martialed under the UCMJ and properly made an example of.

      Instead
He was drove away by NK themselves instead of kicking him out of the vehicle.

To those who are still seeking, still questioning, still not sure about their faith, here's an invitation.
Understand that we, as humans, are limited. We often make mistakes, go astray, and lose our way. It's not about perfection; no one is. As it is stated in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
Recognize that actions alone won't bring ultimate salvation. It's not about counting good deeds against the bad. Ephesians 2:8-9 teaches, "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."
Believe in the transformative power of love and forgiveness embodied in Jesus Christ. He laid down His life so we could find ours. The Bible states in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
True change and enlightenment come when we turn away from our old life and towards a new one - one guided by compassion, love, and humility. Acts 3:19 says, "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord."
Express your faith, not only in words but also in actions. Embrace love, kindness, and righteousness, just like how Jesus lived His life. As Romans 10:9 suggests, "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Consider baptism, a symbolic gesture of your new journey, your decision to leave the old behind, and embark on a new life in Him. Matthew 28:19 encourages us, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
Lastly, remain steadfast. Consistency in following Jesus and His teachings is the key. As Jesus says in John 14:15, "If you love me, keep my commands."
This is not a demand but a warm invitation. ..

Like it's a next babysitter after school.
Before you have kids, one should think: can I teach them any useful lifeskills myself, or do I rely on the system and teaching facilities (which will probably fail them). If you have no generational wealth, and no special skills to teach (which would have to be pretty extraordinary in these coming years) there's no reason to have a kid really, because what if your kid is a lazy loser, because you had absolutely nothing to teach them or to aspire for. Do keep in mind that A.I can already do everything your kid will probably ever do. So these types of things are very likely to happen especially in (this economy and) single parent households, statistically speaking.

That's what I thought, at first. But this guy has no value to them if they do that. They're going to make a star out of him.
He ran away from the US military into the arms of the NK military. Kim Jong Un can propagandize this. He can contrast it as NK vs the West (good v evil). He'll make sure this kid lives a better life than he could attain in the USA, and that everyone knows about it.
By Imprisoning, beating, torturing and killing him, he only drains resources. This soldier has zero intelligence value to NK. So it's a drain of time and money. Kim Jong Un also knows that we won't trade anything of value to get him back. That was lost when the US military stated that he "willfully" crossed over to the enemy. So, unlike Brittany Griner, we can't claim that he's been unlawfully detained.

King actually went to the place he needed to go.
There he will learn respect for authority, accountability, hard work to the point of perfection, and strict discipline.
As a Black woman, I don’t feel sorry for him. He had multiple opportunities in life that others didn’t have. He is impulsive, alcoholic, disrespectful, and didn’t appreciate his privileges.
He was dangerous and bound to hurt someone in the military or at home.
Even if he only stays in N. Korea for a few months, he will return a better, catatonic, man.

I have a feeling that’s the case unless he refused but he seems like a coward and I’m sure they might interrogate him for info but I doubt he knows much. Why was this service member allowed to be anywhere near the actual DMZ post is setup for special envoys to meet and negotiate after he was just released from prison and was being processed for dishonorable discharge. The individual or individuals responsible for allowing this scenario to evolve in the first place needs to be retrained and maybe some type of disciplinary action.

I can't even believe that we have just witnessed someone running into HELL! Unless he absolutely had a death wish, this is incomprehensible.
Also, to hear about all of the trouble he had been in with the military is very concerning, soldiers repeatedly breaking laws and assaulting people when they are supposed to be fighting for our country should be dishonorably discharged (not give 3, 5, and more chances). I don't know if he has mental health issues, anger management issues, or something else but I don't see things fairing well for him. Is it possible that he took military secrets from either the United States or South Korea with him?
I am sorry for his family, but for them to demand the U.S. bring him home is not in line with reality! I doubt very highly that the U.S. will not be going to war for him, nor do I see the U.S. negotiating a trade or arms for him. He knowingly booked a flight on tour to see the DMZ border (I didn't know this was a thing or why anyone would do this.) and he ran across the border even searching for an opening, those actions take some level of comprehension. Just knowing how their leader has starved, imprisoned, tortured, killed, and assassinated people including members of his own family, is absolutely telling. This surpasses Dennis Rodman and Donald Trump praising Kim Jong Un!
