Great explanation! We're Language Assistants in Spain right now and definitely feel some of these things, especially having worked for a while in the US before coming. Hopefully, we'll be able to find some longer-term jobs in Spain because being a Language Assistant really isn't something we can, or want to, do forever.
I’m glad you can relate! But yes I agree long term jobs are the best way to go after being a language assistant & is definitely a viable option! My friend did that and now is working for an English company based in Madrid. But all the best on the job hunt!

I’m glad you found it useful! Yes, it was British council! Out of all the people that I met that did it through British council, it was about 50:50 who did it for uni and the rest, including myself who had already finished uni. I wouldn’t say it was specifically designed for uni students at all
I can relate to this video on soooo man levels! I also teach in Madrid, I got here in November of 2020. This year I'm working with a new teacher along with 5th and 6th grade when last year I was with 3rd and 4th. Sometimes I'm not needed in class so I sit there or I can go into the teachers lounge, one of my teachers got Covid so winter holiday started prematurely however because of the spike in cases it was best to stay at home and not travel. And because of the borders closing down to many countries I'm not able to travel as I anticipated. I never planed on this being a forever job and I did renew for 2022-2023 in Murcia but after next year its time to do someting different. Thanks for being so transparent in this video 👏👏👏

Hi! I’m so glad and I really hope you do enjoy the programme 🥰! That’s a really good question as I feel like most of mine was down to luck! But I would defo recommend always saying yes to opportunities that come your way because you never know what that will lead to, it’s always good to have more doors open to new possibilities. Try to make friends with the teachers, it will make your time at school more pleasant and less segregated. Meet as many people as possible, some of them may be with you for the rest of your life and friends are much needed there for when the times get tough! Also although it’s an amazing experience there are defo a few low points so just be prepared that things won’t always go smoothly (especially administration things which were a nightmare!) I hope this helps!
Great and honest video, well done! I was teaching as a language assistant in Barcelona and it is a tough gig sometimes because you are dealing with classes where you have studetns of mixed levels and it is hard to teach soemtimes but you always manage soemthing. What company did you work for in Madrdi as a language assistant?
@@aimeeweekestravels I worked with a Company in Barcelona called Caps International but due to the company getting into financial difficulties, a lot of us were made redundant. Still, despite all of this, I really enjoyed the experience and want to work as a Language assistant again in the future.
Of course! But it was more about the people than the language. I was just so grateful that they wanted to play chess with me as I know not every language assistant has a good experience with their students
