One thing about “duck x tangbao”: I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned, but roast duck tangbao (天王烤鸭包) is actually one of the signature dishes at 大牌档 (Nanjing Impressions). Be sure to try it out next time you visit! You won’t regret it. :)
Thanks to you (and this video)= I ordered myself some Nanjing roast duck for dinner today as a treat since I am recovering from surgery, and it was absolutely delicious! rich, slightly sweet, a tiny bit of sourness. Fun fact: Beijing duck comes from Nanjing since Beijing is quite a northern city where ducks are kind of rare, because Ming emperor move the capital from Nanjing to Beijing, it brings a lot of local dishes including ducks.

Your video brings my memory back to the days that i was in Nanjing, the typical summer background sound from cicadidae, that was used to be my pet peeve sound in summer, but now it could be the best music...
I envy how well China handled the pandemic. People actually seems to be living life. I miss Chongqing. They also have really good ducks. I would eat one duck every other day when I used to travel there. And 2 grilled pork feet per night. Can't wait until China let Americans enter without quarantine.

We are so lucky that here in Sydney, we can get both traditional roast duck and salted poached duck. I love the flavour of the salted duck, but because of the cooking method, it's a bit fattier than roast duck. Either way, any duck meal is a good meal 😋
You are supposed to just have a small bite on the soup dumpling first, and suck the juice out of it, then dip in vinegar and eat the rest. You can actually ride tandem bikes on these walls of Nanjing. Fall in Nanjing is particularly charming, the whole city is infused with the smell of osmanthus flowers.
As a native who keeping having soup dumplings for almost 30 years, I scream out with frightening when Amy dumped soup out of 鸡汁汤包 lol. Love the video and feel proud of my hometown Nanjing! Thank you Amy.

I really enjoyed walking under the paulownia trees in Nanjing, the huge trees give the city a very different cityscape from Beijing. Also, Nanjing has a very interesting and historical nickname "Stone City石头城", which I think is probably due wto its ancient city walls and buildings. There is a song about Nanjing called "金陵谣", maybe you can listen to it. They also wrote about Beijing (紫禁), Chengdu (锦中客), Guangzhou (天南歌), Xi'an (长安四韵), and Hangzhou (云山入梦舟). I travel to all these cities and 👂 these songs while roaming the streets.❤

Fun fact, Beijing roasted duck was originated from Nanjing roasted duck. It happened back in early ming dynasty when the new emperor moved capital from Nanjing to Beijing. Duck is not a common delicacy elsewhere in northern China.
