Just been to Guiyang last month, from 遵义 I ate 乌江鱼 and in the city we went to 南门's 肠旺面. We had to stand beside the table watching other people eat, and when they leave we had to rush to sit down to catch a place to sit. That was very delicious, and as you said, I feel it IS a bit more spicy than us in Chongqing.

I always want to see food from my hometown in this channel. I was so glad you enjoyed them. One of the special ingredients in Suantangyu (酸汤鱼) is called Mujiangzi (木姜子). Kinda hard to describe what Mujiangzi tasts like. But it gives the dish some extra freshness. The dipping sauce is aslo Guizhou's special. The chilli is called Hulajiao (糊辣椒), which is made by bake red peppers near the fires. The dipping sauces are mostly soup-based in Guizhou, rater then oil-based in Sichuan. Guizhou's hot pods are generally less oily than Sichuan hot pods. Guizhou's hot pods are more about the base soup. Sichuan hot pods are more about the oil. Too bad I cannot go back to Guizhou at this time. Otherwise I would be happy to be your host. Maybe next time 😊

I think the uniqueness of Guizhou spicy is Guizhou dish uses different forms of chilly pepper, for example, powder, oil, and 糍粑辣椒. Also, the last one can only find in the Guizhou style 辣子鸡.

I think you're crazy...but then again I've become a wimp when it comes to spicy hot (old age 73) and living in Edmonton Alberta Canada. However, I'm happy to see you bring tears to your eyes and dripping nose hahaha. .. Cheers to you ..

Hey Amy! Glad to see you traveling and exploring new flavors of China again!
I’ve been to Guizhou in mid-2020 and found that I’m more a fan of the 江团 fish (a kind of carp fish) than 黄辣丁 (a kind of catfish) cuz it has more meat and larger bones. I’m really bad at getting all the fish bones out of my way 😂
But talking about spicy food, when are you visiting Hunan 😉 That’s your dream destination since you were still back in Sydney. Also the province right next to Hunan, Jiangxi, is known to have some most spicy cuisine of the whole country 😉

For someone who has just a bit over 250K followers, your videos consistently achieve 100K views or more. That's saying a lot. There are so many channels I've noticed who have a couple of millions of followers/subscribers, and they only regularly achieve something like 30K views for each video. Once again, your percentages about your subs and vids are saying a lot about you and your fans! 👏👏👏

Just been to Guiyang for one day for some chores in August, so not much time. Ate along the way some 乌江 fish on the highway towards the city, then the famous 肠旺面 in the city. Nice memory. Good work. The accent is more relaxed compared to us in Chongqing, very fascinating for me.

Thanks for the video!! My order from the top would be Yunnan, Sichuan/Chongqing, Hunan. That said, haven't been to Guizhou or Jiangxi. Would imagine minority groups would mean there is some spicy in Guizhou. Need to get there some time.

There is a theory in Chinese common sense that sourness can boost your appetite greatly (很开胃)
Ok, now I have progressed to the point where you explictly adopt 开胃 in your chinese subtitle, which means you knew such theory. Seems I was too eager to play the teacher here.

Armor Xiu building (甲秀楼) that built across the Nanming River is the landmark of Guiyang, also a famous scenic spot。 I really envy your stomach can afford to enjoy the "so" spicy food.

Why is it that Shanghai's local government didn't stockpile food, medicine and toileteries for emergencies like this, like how Singapore's Govt did? These essential items can be distributed to citizens in times of emergency. After this lockdown is over, Xi Jinping ought to FIRE these lousy Shanghai govt officials and hire new competent ones.

I often enjoy spicy foods with a cold beer. However, this combination may be a double whammy to cause peptic ulcers. Here is how:
Alcohol is harsh liquid, it can irritate and inflame the lining of the stomach. Eventually, that irritation and inflammation can cause bleeding, a condition known as gastritis.
The compound in spicy foods, capsaicin, is believed to stimulate the production of protective enzymes in the stomach that can prevent ulcers. However, some medical experts and scientists believe that eating spicy foods can lead to an increased risk of peptic ulcers. It’s also believed that spicy foods can irritate existing ulcers. Since it’s unclear if spicy foods cause or prevent ulcers, to be safe, avoid eating them in large quantities.

Had to look at myself in the mirror, I couldn't believe this white girl more cultured than I am....i live in the US, so maybe my perception of white girls is different than those outside the US. She doesn't even act like those ignorant foreigners, she seems to have very strong grasp of the language and the culture.
