Why drive.... when you can WALK! That's the energy I'm bringing in today's video, where I decided to walk from one side of Beijing to the other. It was actually amazing seeing the city change in character from district to district. I feel like I know Beijing a lot better through this experience :)

Enjoyed this! Might have to do this one myself in Shenzhen 😀
That will be awesome! I’ve been following you guys for three years. Jia you!
I recommend it!!! Different way to see a city
cant wait to see Barrett’s city walk vlog 😂
Hey Barrett. Hope your treatments are going well.
@@BlondieinChina Blondie, I make homemade biang biang noodles. You did not expound on why you gave the noodles a 6 out of 10. Can you offer insight?
I love how he shouted at you like his own family lol "Waaaat, breakfast? haven't you looked at the time?" 🤣🤣🤣
That man was offended by the sheer concept of late morning
这就是没把你当外人看,可惜西方白人不理解这其中的温情,然后说中国人不礼貌
that's chinese culture for you. no concept of privacy and personal space. you get asked about all sort of things you would consider inappropriate in western cultures, but when you are immersed in it you'll feel the warmth and friendship like in no other culture.
@@THICCTHICCTHICC actually he is not. He just try to show his hospitality by treating her like a friend, not like a stranger. I think this is unique for China, especially in East China.
@@netterdrachen1687 You are both right. The word "offended" is neutral here. It's not negative. It's like you're offended by him/her using the word "offended" in his/her comment and that's why you have to defend that guy by commenting here.
Holy shit, the blue sky and clear view, I can't believe that's what Beijing's air quality is like these days. I remember how bad it was in the early 2010s, the progress they've made is absolutely mind blowing.
I was there around 2004 and it was greyer skies than even Shanghai, where I was based for several years. I never knew Beijing had so many attractive locations.
that's true, it's been improved a lot these years.
I was there in 2019 and it wasn't clear at all lol
It just heavily depends on when you go
This video is by far the most likable Amy's video for me. The amount of information in this video is incredibly significant - street views, those roads, different faces of Beijing, food, time recap, rude people, nice people, etc. Most of all, the sponsor's product is wonderful and it's really compelling to use that camera for this adventure.
I am so inspired by this video so I just told myself that if next year I am back in Shanghai, I will do exactly the same in Shanghai. Hope my work VISA will be authorized soon.
❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
As someone who was born and raised in Beijing I must say, that dude in Hutong can't be considered as rude at all in our culture. That's him simply being friendly and comfortable to talk to someone he feels like he can banter with, to troll in a friendly way but not offensive. It's part of the bantering culture ;)
@@HAKAKA1000 yea, I was about to educate him on that cultural phenomena. That dude was chill and open af, just like the way one would talk to his best homies. He wouldn't have suggested the noodle if not for his 'rudeness'.
Yichen Cai, as others have explained, there was no rudeness. This is a fundamental cultural difference that outsiders perceive and interpret inaccurately. He was actually quite friendly.
那并不是粗鲁,是没把你当外人,才会这种方式说话。
Really appreciate the energy and time that went into making this fun video.
Awesome to see Miss. Chopstick Legs has now graduated to Miss. Iron Legs! :D
Aww thank you!!!! Iron legs LOL! By the end of this video they felt more like jelly legs
I am Chinese American…. I went to Beijing 4 years ago…..That is most great vacation I never had…..I 100% will go back again…Thank you all your tips 👍🏻
Please tell you fellow Americans what China is REALLY like. It may not be perfect, but it's not the hell hole US media paints it. Chinese people, Han, Uyghur, Kazakh, Tibetan, Lisu, Zhuang, Miao, etc, are living in relative peace and prosperity.

OMG This is such an AMAZING relaxing walk! There is modern and there is ancient along the way so much to explore despite it being a normal walk about the area. Totally jealous right now! I hope i can do something like this one day. I hope you can also do a video with your parents like this when they come meet you! :D I'm sure they will love this too. Thank-you for another lovely video and also and idea to pop on my list of things to do.
So happy you liked the video!!! Would love to make a video like this with my parents one day

I love Beijing. It's very iconic. If you have amnesia and you wake up in that city, you'll know it's Beijing. Not many cities around the world give that kind of feel.
It's so bittersweet watching your vlogs while waiting for China to let students back in again, but.. I can't help but be thankful for you for sharing this to us helpless and China-starved people!! Really, thank you for the high quality vlogs showing off this beautiful country!
But she just returned to Beijing recently.

Can't believe Blondie just walked through my home, my middle school, my high school, and my college in a single video!
I could've very well been one of those people lining up for them chestnuts HAHAHA!
Thank you for all the nostalgia 艾米饭, you are the best!
Thank you for watching and such a lovely comment! so happy it brought back memories for you xxx
Amy is such a positive oz girl
Loved the Sculpting in Time Cafe! not only because of its poetic name but because I tried to imagine the aroma of the flowers on the first floor rising to the second floor and gently mixing with the cafe aroma. Now it´s on my wish list.
I miss China so much 🥲🥲 our son is at Nanjing university from Canada. I work over there sometimes too but left when COVID-19 started so never got to spend a couple of days in Beijing. Saw your video about visiting Kunming, because our son is heading there tomorrow with his friend. Ironically he shares an apartment in Nanjing with 2 guys from Australia too. He loves it there hoping the borders open this year so we can visit him again it’s been 2 years now since we’ve seen him ☹️☹️ love your videos 👍👍👍 love the comment from the old guy breakfast it’s 10:30am 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ it’s always breakfast somewhere 😁😁 be safe 👍👍👍
walking in Beijing is so much fun! I also did it for about 24km in a day when last time I visited Beijing in 2019
wow!!! thats a mega walk !
@@BlondieinChina yep! I was walking around and seeing those modernism or postmodernism architectures which are not usually seen here in the bay area :D
It is just so iconic to watch you eat your way across town. Just love it. Thanks for the video. We were in Beijing in 2018, and I kicked myself for not going up to Jingshan Park.
T
This is honestly one of your best vlogs. So cool to follow along as you go down your memory lane. Top of the class, lady!
When Blondie said she started at this uni 5 years ago, I thought that was such a long time, then I saw the year was 2017 and realised I started uni in China the year before 🤦🏽♀️ I’m still here so that shows I need to improve my Chinese…any maybe go on a walking tour of my city!
I´m currently studying Mandarin and your videos really motivate me to keep doing it, hope one day I can visit China
This also brings back my memory of studying and living at Peking University. I haven't been able to visit Wudaokou for three years or so. Also, if you don't know this already, we call it the center of universe (宇宙中心), instead of student center. lol
do you know why it is 宇宙中心 😂
I got you beat. When visiting Beijing in 2010, one day I walked 33,000 steps, including climbing up to the same viewpoint at Jingshan Park! The view you showed of the Forbidden City and the rest of the Beijing area is just as I remember it. BTW, my back was quite stiff and sore that evening. Hopefully you didn’t feel the aftereffects of such a long walk!
I really appreciate your willingness to just ask people questions. It's really excellent and I would be too scared to do it.
You shouldn't be scared to ask questions of other human beings. The only thing you lose is they don't respond. Eventually someone will. It will open up whole new worlds for you to express your curiosity. Try!
Oh man...I have so many memories in each and every stop on your route today. I went to elementary school in one of the 胡同s near 东四; I remember seeing that pedestrian bridge for the first time, thinking it was a miracle in architecture 😂. If I were to walk from 国贸 to 五道口, I'd literally take exactly the same route as you did, 景山-北海-炸灌肠(wait what?)-什刹海-鼓楼!
This is unbelievable that I have subscribed to your channel for a long time but I just know that we are schoolmates! I was born and raised in Beijing and now worked in Houston, and your video makes me really nostalgic but when it shows Wudaokou and Tsinghua University, that's a total bomb! Thank you for your vlog Amy! Gogogo!
I don't dare to walk anywhere in Houston or anywhere in America. My changes in getting Robbed or Shotted are most likely.
Feeling so relaxed watching this! Made me fall in love with this city already. I gotta go visit Beijing sometimes!
Nostalgia walk. Sure bring back good memories.
This one is probably one of my favourite videos of yours!! I lived in Beijing for two years and watching your video made me realise how I actually missed Beijing🧡✨ thank you Amy you are amazing🎈
Awwww thank you so much!!!
Respect, girl. There was a time (30 years ago?) that I could (and probably did) walk the distance you did here. Enjoy your youth and health!
OMG, Amy, I can't believe you have walked all the way from Guomao to Wudaokou, that's quite a long journey. I feel nostalgic when you walked through Jingshan, Beihai, Houhai, Wudaokou, that brings me back to the days when I was studying in Wudaokou and makes me feel a little emotional too. Now I've been living in New Zealand for 6 years, and I'm so looking forward to visiting Beijing again once the 28 days of quarantine is not required any more. Thanks for your lovely video, and I really like your content. Not only people who have never been to Beijing can enjoy your content, people who have lived there before can relate to your content.
Amazing video! Such a hard work you've put in it! We appreciate it very much :)
Thank you so much!!!
I once biked from Shuanjing to Tian Tan park and I thought my legs were going to fall off! I couldn't imagine all of that walking... even after watching this video, it still seems unfathomable to me. It was also nice to see all the sights along the way, plunging me into deep nostalgia of my time in Beijing. Great video!
I enjoyed walking in Beijing sooo much! It’s all flat unlike here in NZ everywhere is pretty much like hills and mountains😂and you’ll never get lost!
Wow! So many different scenic views and landscapes. A wonderful walking tour for viewers like me who's been to Beijing several times.
And what a contrast to the boring walk that i used to take over here between Vancouver and Burnaby and North Vancouver.
Well done Amy! You're tough! I believe you're the first RUclipsr making a video on foot across Beijing city introducing all the beautiful places and local food. You're like a local Pekingese now.
灌腸 is not enema... It's sadly the same words used as enema, but here 灌腸 means "Starch Sausage"...
哈哈哈
Enema is way more fun
This was such a good video! Such a cool concept, loved exploring a Beijing’s sites and food with you. You have come a very long way! I want to walk through Beijing now!
You're so amazing! Thanks for taking us on this journey.
Hey Amy, didn't know you live around the Guomao area. My wife and I have been watching your videos for the past few years in the states, giving us many reasons why we wanted to do something in China. We opened up a Bao shop by Guomao area earlier this year. "Yaofood, 毛大庆包子铺". If you have time please give our salted egg yolk bao a try! You won't find it anywhere. It's an Asian American receipt. I learned from my Viet-Chinese friends here in California. Southern and Northern fusion. The salted egg yolk bao gets sold out early every day. You will see my wife there taking orders, I bet she will be so excited if she sees you in line! but I'm still stuck here in the states because I can't get a Visa to go back. All I can do is watch your video about Beijing lol I was born there but can't go back...lol well hope you can enjoy our Bao one day, good luck, and wish you the best!
Hope you can go back soon. I think China does allow family reunion visas during COVID…
I loved this video! So fun getting to explore the city with you, and hear so many interesting and funny stories along the way! Keep doing what you're doing!
Awesome video Amy! I felt very cozy watching your walking tour across Beijing.
what a sweet sweet video! thank you for sharing sights of the city, I even got emotional too when you got to the campus gate! so happy you came on this life path and you are able to share content with all of us!
I enjoyed watching this video as much as you enjoyed making it. Thank you so much for this fun video, Amy!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
this is one of my favourite videos you've done!! i love walking and feeling exhausted afterwards so i can eat lmao it inspired me to walk lots today!
Great content! It’s incredible how a simple walk around the city can give you new views on the different sides of a city, and its people
Hi Amy, I absolutely love this video! Thank you for sharing us the views of Beijing❤️
This is an amazing video. The weather, the streets, and the food really brought back memories. Thank you.
What a fabulous video and thanks for taking us along. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦 ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Man I love your content, you have such a nice energy. Even though I was born in China I never really had much appreciation for it. I guess you take those things for granted. But watching your videos really helps me appreciate it more. It's so lovely 😌
Thanks for sharing the city walking guide, so interesting to see the day to day scenes of Beijing
This video makes me missing my home town Beijing so much, thank you for sharing such a wonderful vlog!
With all due respect, this is one of your better video, calm, nice, gentle music in the background, well explained, not rushing, abrupt n chaotic like before, though l love your liveliness n sense of humor! Love the slow shots of all the food eateries, the snacks, the Pagoda n its stunning view of Beijing, Forbidden City, the mountains n especially the Map to indicate the locations!
Well done, Amy, hope for more of Beijing n China, n a slower n less chaotic video, easy on the eyes, n love the music too definitely easy on the ears, for a viewer from Japan. Thank you! Jiayou,👍🇨🇳
Will definitely visit China once borders are reopened, hopefully!!!
Thanks and great video! Bringing my memories back while I traveled by myself walking around in Beijing in autumn 2019
One of the best video I have seen! So much things to view, love it.
Thanks Blondie!
As a guy used to drive commute between Chaoyang (Jiuxianqiao) and Haidian (Xierqi), and spent literally 3 hours on the road with traffic, this is pretty awesome! good work Amy
Trough this video, I can see how far Emily has grown from the first time I saw her video. We are proud of you Emily!
You’re always so enthusiastic and cheerful😮 hope you’re happy living in beijing!
wow amy, such a relaxing video! Thank u for bringing us with u as u walk around Beijing haha! I got emotional too the part where you took your jumpshot💜💜 i love you and your vids amy!!
Hi Amy, Congratulations! you nailed it!!!!! - Exploring the Beijing City from one side to another side by walking without any transport!!!!! I really enjoyed watching this beautiful video with so many picturesque views of Autumn Beijing, actually I've watched it twice. Beijing is such a AMAZING city - I hope I can visit it again very soon!
Wow! That was a fun video. I actually did this by bicycle in mid-october, round-trip starting from PKU to CCTV pants building, stopping for dinner at the Pushkin restaurant (which has lovely authentic borscht btw).
Amy's videos are always so informative and so fun to watch. I have learned so many new things about China that I didn't know before as a Chinese person lol. Keep the good work Amy!!!
Great video! I just subscribed your channel because of this one.😁 Beijing is so beautiful in early winter! The places you pass through bring up so much great memories. Well done!
I love this video! Great idea for a walk crossing the ancient city in Autumn. So keen to try ! Thanks, BTW, do miss ur hilarious Dad n witty Mom on ur videos.
Really enjoyed this particular video, loved the content, please do more video like this! BTW, you are an excellent ambassador for Australia (and your whole family). You were so lucky to have attended Tsinghua University, as you are aware, for millions of Chinese youths, this is their dream school, super hard to get in.
Love this video! Beijing looks amazing in Autumn, my favorite time of Beijing.
Omg! I've been mostly in these places that you've been in this video, , Amy! Great memories of Beijing indeed! Thank you so much for this walk-a-tour vlog for this week! Hoping for China's border to reopen very soon with less restrictions! #nostalgic
I am glad you are enjoying your time in China....I wish one day I can go there and try out all the foods you have been tried.
I'm craving a Beijing walking tour so much right now! Haven't been there for almost eleven years now and getting more and more nostalgic by the day.
This is amazing. Thanks Amy for this video.
Hi Amy, thank you for this video which was not only about your insanely long walk but filled with tons of information about Beijing, nice views, funny food (of course with explanations in your very personal style) and all that in a funny and entertaining way - I always wonder how you set up your mind straight in order to talk to the camera like would be a person - with a sparkling eyes and engaging smile.
That was fun to watch!
So fun to see your videos and even better to see all the places I used to frequent. I used to live in the CBD district across the street from SKP. Actually lived in the Orientino Executive Apartments that are share with SKP-S. But one thing is for certain I do not miss the cold!
The editing and shots on this video are top notch. Love this concept!
You're so.lucky to be able to do this. Thanks for taking us along.
Glad to see you're alive after all the river fish 😄 It's my only day in Beijing today and I'm a bit cold here but everything is pleasantly convenient.. Didn't expect to have a warm reception too, but it's a little easier to move around than in Chengdu.. That said, Chengdu is maybe a little greener to the eyes. Enjoy and Stay Safe! Good walk!
You wear the right color for Tsing Hua! What a match. :)
Awesome walking vlog…enjoyed every minute of the sights you showed!
OMG I love this type of video! Really got to see different sides of a city and those little snack shops along the way are so interesting!!! Thank you so much for making this video, it really motivates me to explore the city I currently live in. It's so true that often in time we just go from point A to B and completely miss all the small little special details in between.
Beijing is so fun for walking. You did a great job of capturing the experience. There are so many fun little snacks and buildings to check out along the way. It would be awesome to see another walking, or even cycling, video. Have you ever just got on a bus and drove out in the direction of the mountains? I've gotten lost many times, but it's a super interesting adventure.
Very nice. Love watching your stories in Beijing.
Happy to hear that!!
Very cool channel! Thanks for sharing the fun and interesting sides of China without judgement
Very nice city the roads are very tidy and neat, thank you for sharing your walking trip in Beijing.
I can’t be more familiar with the route. I lived 5 min away from wudaokou and my best friend was at where you got shouted “breakfast?when the time is it now?” I can smell the phantom aroma of Beijing in winter still. You really make me homesicking.
If I ever get to Beijing, I'm totally walking across the town!!
That is one very large “town” sort to speak.
It s a big ass city 😂
I totally love your videos. Specially because of your cool interractions with people. 😁 All of them are so nice😁
It was a nice walk to go along with you. Last time I was in Beijing was in January and it was super cold. It's a great city for good walks, and lots of snacks!
This is such a wonderful video, in fact, one of the best video of Blondie in China. I shared your joy of going back to the university that you studied , in fact ,the best uni in China. It also brings back lots of memories for myself too. I have been to all of the places in the video except now it is much more organised, with less bicycles , should be more pleasant to walk. Your narrative of the video is so good and it double the pleasure of watching it, it’s your lovely smile and of course, your beautiful face! Thanks for sharing, bravo!
Glad to know a new word "nostalgia". Thanks Amy! I really like you as a bridge for cultural exchanges between the East and the West, introducing the ordinary Chinese life to Western friends without any political painting. I also really like some common English expressions that you inadvertently taught the Chinese audiences in your adventure. Beijing boutique private tour guide with vlog together may be a good career for you.
Your videos always cheer me up. Hope you have a good time in Beijing.
Love this, reminds me of adventures me and my wife would have in shanghai. Exploring where you live is so much fun!
Great job on the enormous step count! Impressive.
not sure how marathoners do it! My legs were about to fall off by the end of this
Such a good video. So good to see the Beijing streets while you take this walk. I miss Beijing So much. I used to take these long walks in Beijing through the city too. Hope the COVID will pass soon, and everything could go back to normal.
Unfortunately COVID is here to stay. Every human on the planet needs to accept this new normal.
This video was so great!
Love the effects and the half marathon, you should walk some more (maybe in other cities too)
Thank you for this. I'm a couple of weeks out of quarantine in Chaoyang District and this has given me a little more confidence to get out and explore, even without a lick of Mandarin :)
wow, I am truly impressed! as a Beijing native, I know how long this is and I would have suggested it is impossible to do if you ask. Not only that, she stopped by parks and climbed the hill in Jingshan, that is crazy. I should do this sometimes.. maybe on a bike though.
Reminds me of your dad!! Who is also a long distance walker😃 I love walking long distance as well
Love the video and walk. Thank you for your adventures! Can’t wait to visit ! What a beautiful city ...I would love to run across the city. I’m so hungry watching this. Regards from Canada
That’s so touching that you felt emotional at the gate to your old school. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Beijing looks so beautiful. Do you still keep in touch with the Ychina family? I loved that music video you did with them. It was so funny 🤣
Amy, you are living the life I aspire to find one day...awesome foods, adventures, people, drinks, cultures, arts, technologies, etc. God bless you woman!💞💪🤠🍾
Good job girl! Thoroughly enjoyed this video, I studied at Beijing Language Uni 10 years old, this just brings back so much memories ❤
Wow Amy, thanks for continuing to share you China adventure. Please do more.. luv ya😘
Derk needs be extra careful of the way he treats Amy. She still remembered the day she couldn't ate the fired chicken after 4 years and got her revenge lol
