I like this idea of him being the Mad Hatter. It would lend itself to the idea they actually have three games planned. First of course was their spin on Pinocchio. Based in the end credits scene, We have Wizard of Oz and a third game being Alice in Wonderland?? This would be the trilogy I would cherish
Giangio being The Mad Hatter would be interesting. Would that mean he was speaking to The Queen of Hearts in the secret cutscene? Would he have allegories to The March Hare and Dormouse as allies? And where does characters Alice Liddel and The Cheshire Cat fit into this? So many questions. So much potential. I can't wait to see where this goes. It's going to be awesome.
As I was nearing the end of the game I swear I thought it might go into a League of Extraordinary Genntlemen thing with more books and folklore and the idea of a soulslike universe in fantasy books is honestly brilliant
So far besides the cast of Pinocchio we also got Dorothy (Wizard of Oz), Dorian Gray, Belle and her partner (Beauty & The Beast) confirmed, so the idea that Giango could be the Mad Hatter isn't that much of a stretch really 👍
Has it really been confirmed that it was THE Belle from beauty And The Beast, or could it just be a coincidence ? Also, are we sure it's not just another girl entirely whose full name is Isabelle ?
@@jackwilliam4436 I haven't heard official confirmation of the devs intentions with the character of Belle, but the fact her partner turns into pretty much a sentient "beast" I think the intent is quite obvious (there is also Adelena and her sister who mimic Snow White and the evil witch, with an apple involved as well, though not exactly in the same way as the original)
@@AscendantStoicThanks. About the White Lady and the Red lady, couldn't they be Snow White and her sister Rose Red, instead ? Also, if the series explores Alice's adventures (Wonderland and Looking Glass Land), it would be interesting to see another Red/White pair fighting each other : The Red Queen and the White Queen are the 'real' leaders of the chess battle.
@@jackwilliam4436 It could be as it could not given from what I've seen not many people know about snow white having a sister so it really depends if the creators knew about that as they did their research or if it was just a coincidence that they chose to dress them with red and white respectively.
@@jackwilliam4436 Not really confirmed. Notably, Belle is a Disney original name, and in the older stories she was simply named Beauty (which in French does translate to Belle). However, much like Pinochio, one of the retellings is in a fairy tail collection named Blue Fairy, as are some of the other inspirations the game is hinting at. So it's very much possible that would make for a setting in a DLC/sequel.
I’d love a video about Gemini, I feel like there’s nothing about him throughout the whole game, like why is he so robotic at the start but then gets normal and the flash back at the beach mentions him
His robotic speech at the beginning is due to his system restarting, some kind of factory reset type of thing. I think it's implied through what Sophia and him tell you but I don't remember exactly. Also there at least used to be more Monad's laterns, so there's likely more beings like Gemini out there
Jesus Christ i love this game so much and i love this little community we now have. I swear if this game had been made by From, it would be hailed as perhaps their best work. Ok maybe it's an exaggeration, but it's that good
It’d be wild if we had a Dark Souls 3 moment where due to all these fairy tails merging, converging, mish and mashing as they become real in a world where a person can represent more than one character, the world itself starts to change and morph into a cluster of all these fairy tails colliding, no different than the “Kiln of the First Flame” and “The Dreg Heap” locations from Dark Souls 3. We’d see places and references to all these fairy tails sort of collide into a messy landscape as the fairy tales become more and more real with destructive effects
as well as having the last boss not just a character from fairy tale but the writers’ muse. The epitome of inspiration, the reason everything was made in the first place just like the soul of cinder being the epitome of everyone who kindled the fire before or maybe even after you (the flow of time is convoluted as we know)
Great video! An interesting thing to note about Giangio is that his skin could be a reference to argyria, a condition where the body has too much silver (important element in alchemy and many other traditions involving the metal) and the skin has the blue-gray tinge Giangio's does. The reason he might burn from trying to touch Gold Coin Fruit while they're still attached to the tree could be because he has silver in him from his condition or it could even be because the Weeping Willow despises the Alchemists that turned her into the tree we see in-game so she burns any one of them that tries to pick her fruit.
OK, here is something that bothers me. On my first playthrough, when I had no clue about connections with Oz, I rescued a Test Subject 826 NPC just after Laxasia The Complete bossfight. He seemed a bit weird but one thing in particular - his nose. It could be a coincidence but man, I don't know now. Why they specifically chose the nose to look so distinct in color compared to the rest of his face. And now take a look at the Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz (1939) movie.
This is a very good theory. The hat does make this theory incredibly viable considering what happens in the post credits. It will be interesting to see where Lies of P goes from here. The world building is incredible in this game!
Something that I found cool which you could maybe explore in a future video is that the architecture presented in the game and even the name of the hotel, Krat, are of a Germanic nature. This makes sense considering most folk lore we know today stems from Germany. This goes to show we have only begun to go down the rabbit hole.
So something hit me on my second play thru.........Belle. and her liver who turned into a monster......or a beast, I think Belle I beauty from beauty and the beast, her outfit is navy blue and white, she was the smart one out of the two and she is very questioning of everything going on in krat
I know Bloodborne was a huge inspiration for this game. So give what we know about Giangio from the story so far. Should we be worried that Giangio looks like a young Gehrman. And that the Alchemist ( a group of researcher ) are attempting to gather and mess with artifacts and other things left behind by some type of god. You think i could be possible that the whole story ( just like Bloodborne ) is being manipulated by a corrupt outer god? Which could explain the layering of of these stories and the reimagining of the story of Pinocchio.
I may be wrong, but I don't think you've mentioned the picture you find and give to Geppetto is by D. Grey as in 'The Picture of Dorian Grey' by Oscar Wilde.
I'm not a fan of a soul game, and this is my 1st one. I do not enjoy where you die endlessly, and near rage quit when playing a game. But this game begs to differ; when I saw it, it was amazing, and all the lores connected to the game make it enjoyable. I'm a fan of Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp). I'm still dying A LOT but enjoying the game😂
Your right about this theory 100 percent. Mad hatter is very bipolar so the way he switches tone in the secret ending. And with him after the other keys. So I can see wizard of oz and Alice in wonderland will be forsure there next big works for the story.
I saw Giangio / Parascelus as The Mad Hatter for one of the obvious reasons, by the time they showed an interconnected universe with the Wizard of Oz, his top hat is enormously and outstandingly huge... I mean we get one and outside of the giant puppets, he has by far the biggest top hat in the game, which is a key identifier of the mad hatter in Alice in wonderland amongst all other things. Now it would be interesting if Alice and Dorothy are actually one in the same divided in some soul splitting way, which causes them to be some strange being you encounter in the other games. It'd be also amazing if they threw into the mix, little red riding hood and Hansel and Gretel as integrated side stories with some sub major implications. Like the three pigs are actually evil and you have to aid the wolf in snuffing the three from an indomitable fortress ridiculously fortified. and a legion of witches that are also wreaking havoc. They literally could revive classic fairy tales galore with a plethora of back stories taking inspirations from their materials and adding the spin like we see in Lies of P. how could I forget, the villainous PETER MFing PAN and his evil cult 🤩
also if i remember some myths correctly it is said that Paracelsus Van Hoenheim trapped a demon into a red gem and put it into a sword (I'm not so sure about the myth) and who is so mad to do that
Is it just me or does the ghost that you can summon for boss fights look like Giangio? At least you can buy star fragments from him and many uses for the dice help the ghost in the fight
WHere I do enjoy the theory, I firmly believe he is in reference to a small german folk/fairy tale "The Legend of Paracelsus." A small story detailing Paracelsus assisting and thwarting an evil spirit/demon trapped with a tree, obtaining two tinctures (One of which is referenced in the game itself.) The Tincture that can be used to Cure All Disease, and one that turns all things it touches to gold. The game pays homage to this by making the tincture that can cure the Petrification Disease made from the Gold Coin Fruit. The tincture that turns all things to gold isn't overtly referenced, but it's possible that the tree itself is that. A tree made from the souls of those touched by Ergo, similar to Sophia.
So far I’m seeing Pinnochio, Dorothy of Oz, now the Mad Hatter of Wonderland. At this point I’m guessing if this game and story does go on, it’s a shadow war between Lewis Carol, L. Frank Baum, and if we introduced to people like Red Riding Hood or Snow White, the Brothers Grimm.
I believe it would also be supported by the end credits scene as well. You can hear a female voice on the phone, could it be Alice or The Queen of Hearts?
After just reading "Mad Hatter" it totally makes sense to be honest. Still I'm not completely sure he might be the Mad Hatter, with design he sure hit the spot but who knows, definitely not impossible though.
I thought Giangio was actually Peter Pan. Based on what he was saying to the person on the phone I assumed he was immortal or something. And the letter that he left was signed by "P.P". Or they just need to manipulate the "chosen ones" to get them to do the work for them.
I thought Giangio is clearly Carlo/Pinocchio from the future. They look exactly the same. Same hair and all. Giangio also wears gloves so you cannot tell if he has a mechanical arm. And the ghost you summon during fights, looks the same too, and uses the ouroboros weapon sometimes. Aren't they all the same person from different times?
Now, imagine Eugenie's cat actually originating from Cheshire and getting fatter, as it follows Dorothy in the sequel - only to return to live with the Duchess in the third game.
You think he's suspicious, I just thought he was adorable and I wanted to wrap him into a blanket every time he spoke xD Well the post credit scene changed that for sure...

Dude P stands for Pinocchio. That’s who the main character is in the story. Paracelsus signs his letters as P.P anyway
@@astrea4020you play the game? The main character is a puppet with the memories of carlo. They never once refer to him as Pinocchio?
Found the Easter egg in the title 👌 The mad hatter in the bottom left
Bottem left corner is a mad hatter
There is the Disney mad hatter in bottom left corner
The mad hatter in the bottom left corner

I thought Giangio was the the wizard from The Wizard of Oz.

A bit of a reach at the end , but I like the theory
Man called a pharmacist a farmer .
The pharmacist called himself a farmer in your conversations with him
Mad hatter bottom left
Farmer 😂😂😂 bro doesnt know what a pharmacist is?!
You might not be that bright to understand what he was referencing. Go play the game again with more attention and hopefully you'll get it.
oh my god hes not a farm boy hes a pharmacist like the people who give you drugs
but he signs his name PP, and he’s looking for immortality. I think the idea of him being Mad Hatter is awesome…but Peter Pan makes more sense
This. When I read the note signed P.P. I immediately thought he was Peter Pan
