I didn’t get a good understanding of Blue Beetle until I watched his arc during Young Justice. They fleshed out his story, the suit and where it came from so perfectly. A lot of your qualms and complaints are addressed and explained in those episodes.
yea, young justice has definitely been the best thing DC came out with in the last decade (Harley Quinn series being a good contender as well). Honestly, I'd be perfectly fine if they just stopped trying to do live action adaptations so long as they kept putting out quality animated works.
the voice and personality of the scarab in Young Justice is on point and the voice in the film really puts me off
I'm Brazilian and I'm here for the actress Bruna Marquezine. Everyone here in Brazil felt so proud of her when she got this role, I mean, a Brazilian in a big Hollywood movie! 💙💙💙💙

I don’t think this is a “Big” Hollywood movie lol but it’s a small one with some good actors
Coco had a massive boom from the Mexican community seeing as it focused entirely on Mexican culture, and it’s a incredibly large community.
The thing with just painting all South American peoples as “Latinos” though easier and more broad term, it is not truly a unifying thing.
A Latino can refer to a person from over 20 different countries and territories and all with their own unique cultures. It’s why something like Into the Heights didn’t compute with all Latino and Hispanic audiences
A Mexican is not the same as a Puerto Rican who is not the same as a Dominican who is not the same as a Salvadorian who not the same as a Honduran (very important factor if you know country history) who is not the same as a Argentinian who is not the same as a Brazilian but all can be classed as Latinos and not all can be classed as Hispanics, and so on and so forth
It’s a incredibly difficult demographic of people to break down. And Hollywood can’t treat them all as one single demographic

I appreciated they were trying, thanked them, and then explained the difference.
Likewise, I appreciate any time there is a genuine attempt at good representation, especially when it's not just posturing but actually telling an original story that meaningfully shares that country's culture.

Well that explains a lot and makes sense why the word “Latino” is a complicated word. Not sure what word to use but I’m sure there will be a word that works.

It’s not a character either myself or my son have heard of, but we have our tickets for tomorrow evening. It looked like a decent movie from the trailer so fingers crossed. Like Disney, Warner Bros seem hell bent on destroying the super hero genre lately.
Glad you liked the movie! Just wanna point out that the whole thing about dealing with death in a more “positive way” is mostly a Mexican thing rather than a Latino thing because other Latin countries don’t have a “Dia De Los Muertos” type of holiday like Mexico does 🇲🇽

Does the scarab have a personality in the movie? That to me is a key component of Blue Beetle

Well Grace it's nice to hear that this movie is worth seeing, because I had assumed that this was a iffy at best, but you've convinced me otherwise.
I know someone is going to mention Tony Stark and how his nanotech suit also had no rules but I want to remind everybody that that was his swan song as Iron Man and not his first entry.
One of the reasons why I want to watch this movie is Susan Sarandon. I'm very glad to hear she's a really evil villain.

The movie’s entire dialogue has been heard in any other movies about family- it’s not bad but it’s not anything else than a generic movie with very few interesting actions sequences. Nothing is memorable but Jaime’s actor does a fine job.
I'm definitely supporting this movie in theaters with my family. Latino representation for sure.

I'm excited to see this one. A character I have liked in media before. Lets get it. UNFORTUNATELY just checked theaters nears me through the weekend and only a handful of seats have sold and it's got the BIG screens. UH OH!
I’ve always liked Superhero Origin Stories (if done right). It’s great to see Jamie Blue Beetle rise in popularity so much after Injustice 2, I loved him in there. Definitely looking forward to seeing this tomorrow with the family.
Have you seen the Young Justice tv show? They depicted Blue Beetle perfectly when he was introduced in season 2

The trailers did a horrible job at portraying this film as generic
8:15 I would never imagine people making such a fuzz about someone saying Batman is a fascist. Of course Batman wouldn’t be the most popular hero for DC citizens.
I live a good chunk of my life in Palmera City, we just call it San Juan, Puerto Rico. (Seriously, most of the scenes are either San Juan or the neighboring Carolina)
Really hope this does well. DC needs a big win or any win after these past few months

This movies has half of the Flash budget, and still has way waaaaaay more better VFX than The Flash.

Well this movie also has half of the Flash’s vfx lol. This movie relies on practical effects as well as vfx, whilst flash had plenty of primary vfx scene’s.

Watching this movie, of course, for the Latino representation. No idea who Blue Beatle is but looking forward. Also, because here in Mexico going to the movies sill is the one of the cheapest dates options, but only Monday to Thursday when you get two tickets, two sodas, and one big popcorn box for 199 pesos, like 6 or 7 dollars. Win deal.

Hi Grace - it's not about superhero fatigue - and it never will be. It's about the two cinematic universes not giving the fans anything to be excited about!! The DCU is a mess and the last meaningful end credit scene we got in the MCU was in February with Antman and the Wasp! Secret Invasion - NO end credit scene. This is mid August!
I agree with that. I think the mcu has a lot of potential with Deadpool 3 and Daredevil Born again. With DC I’m looking forward to Joker 2 and Batman 2…
@@kennycodes Absolutely! Deadpool 3 notwithstanding, it's Captain America and the Thunderbolts both with great mid or end credit scenes that will make 2024 a fantastic year. Daredevil - very intriguing. 18 episodes? Not all of them will be good, unfortunately.

Xolo Mariduena is the only choice for Blue Beetle, first time I saw Kobra Kai I was like "Blue Beetle!!!! Make this movie NOw!!!!"
Missed opportunity. Could've used Ted Kord instead of Reyes. Great way to tie in Booster Gold. Not to mention other characters associated with JLA like Guy Gardner and Mister Miracle.
Blue beetle was before Gunn and basically already done at that point
