      Yea, unfortunately as time has gone on, college degrees are less and less useful in the real world unless they're something very specific such as a law or medical degree, and even then it can be hard for people to find a job that pays well enough they can even cover their debt from getting said degree.
      I'm a college dropout myself, but I've had several coworkers over the years who had full degrees but were working the same job as me for the exact same pay, because there just weren't many options for them.

      I am not a fan of mantle sharing, so I would prefer the original Blue Beetle to get the spotlight. "But", I have seen Jaime in the Young Justice, Justice League Action, and Brave and the Bold series, and he is entertaining. Sure, like Miles Morales, no doubt there's the diversity push with the minority thing, but the innocent minor utilizing street smarts is a good character template that never gets old. As for the Scarab itself, as a fan of Guyver, I can appreciate it as well. Still, Batman and Spiderman will always be my favorites because they are not really over powered tanks with powers only bound by imagination. I also love how all the original Robins and Batgirl became their own heros rather than becoming Batman, much better than mantle sharing. It doesn't even make sense with Green Lanterns, no human Lanterns ever, then there's 6 human Lanterns in a row???

    • @drakegrandx5914
      @drakegrandx5914 11 дней назад

      @@jeremybrummel3254 Thing is, Jaime has been DC Comics' main Blue Beetle since 2006, something that's also reflected in other media (from Batman The Brave And The Bold to Justice League Action to even Tiny Titans). The most iconic parts of the Blue Beetle Mythos (Khaji-Da being a sentient alien weapon rather than a magical object) come from him, and he's the one people think to when "Blue Beetle" is mentioned; Ted Kord, on the other hand, is mostly only relevant as "Booster Gold's partner".
      In DC's case, "mantle-sharing" is frequent and usually a very big deal; it's not like in Marvel, where most of the time it's either gimmicky or a lazy attempt to cash in on "diversity" (that's usually the case with "legacy characters" from 2015 onward). So, it's not too rare for a "legacy character" to redefine their superhero mythos and become the iconic (or at least just-as-iconic) bringer of the mantle, especially if the former "bringers" weren't very popular in the first place. I can't think of a better example of that than Flash, a character that is associated with compassion and a jokey persona... but that's Wally West, not Barry Allen, yet those attributes are often ported to Barry in non-comic media (basically, the "iconic Flash" is actually Wally West, even though Barry Allen's name is used more often due having been the first Flash in main continuity).

He just hasn't passed the bar yet. He can get ANY job in a law office for $30 to $50 per hour or MORE because he can be paid as a paralegal but has MORE skills than a paralegal since he went to law school. Once he passes the bar, he can charge higher if he's hired as an associate attorney. @drakegrandx5914 11 дней назад

      @@tkps I mean, to be fair, it's important to get the ethnicity of a character right, especially if it's the lead of the movie.
      But... yeah, the problem is when "ethnicity" becomes the deciding factor rather than the filtering criteria.
      You can see it a lot in this movie. Jaime Reyes is a very entertaining character in other media, but this isn't a "Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes)" movie as much as it is a "Latinoamerican superhero" movie. Jaime's ethnicity is so pushed that it competes aggressively, when not overshadows, the other sides of his character (which is why, for example, you have Jaime's family being so active in the story, as opposing to being side characters the way they are in comics; because the "Latinoamerican=Familia is important" aspect is more important than rest of the character). Compare to Miles Morales in the Spidervers movies, whose ethnicity is never brought up as a plot point (nor even with cringey "white people vs. minorities" one-lines) and is only used to add flavor to his interaction with his parents; where Jaime Reyes (in the movie) almost comes out as a stereotype, Miles Morales feels like a unique character, despite both fitting into the same "inexperienced superhero" archetype.

    The one comment I'll make having a foreign name myself is that even when you say your name to people, especially white americans, they are still fully capable of mispronouncing it in the way that would imply that they've somehow attempted to translate or transliterate into english and pronounce it as such instead of just repeating after me. This is my life experience and that of many people I know who have non english names who have dealt with americans. I mean, to be honest, I grew up here and didn't even realize that there existed people who did not do all that and could just pronounce your name properly by just listening until I literally left the country for the first time.

    Ain’t no way you just implied not only that 25% isn’t a large tip (yea it absolutely Friggin is. That’s 1/4 the total bill)
    But then also implied that people with college degrees aren’t struggling to find jobs? Friggin everyone is struggling to find jobs. Every place says they’re hiring but then they don’t actually hire anyone.
