Blood Mist is useful for tying a fresh pack of Suppressor Elites with Corpse Tendril + Sacrilegious Ring. How to do it: activate Blood Mist and enter the pack. Swirl around and wait for the ring to activate Corpse Tendrils. Come out of Mist and delete the now tied and stunned pack with Bone Spears. I still prefer it over Decrepify because of that.
Great content! I have come up with a new build I haven't seen anyone using and it works incredibly well. It's basically normal bone spear but built as low life build (kind of like bulwark druid if you're familiar). Lidless wall keeps barrier up 100%, you stay under 35% and stack damage while injured (I'm at around 75% with boots, legs, and amulet). Throw all diamonds on gear for increased barrier and stack barrier for stats too. It allows me to face tank the 3 final blood seekers. Also, using blighted corpse explosion to create shadow DOTs that keep armor up, and proc lucky hit a bunch more, allow for damage reduction via shadow stat, and stun targets via crippling darkness, then paired with enhanced decrepify, everything is literally perma stunned. Only downside is no Tibault's Will... just thought I'd share!
For NM's I recommend flickersteps for more evades and constant bonestorm which refills essence gage the fastest because of sheer ammount of extra hits (hundreds of hits per minute in nm100) with high lucky hit rate. This is faster moving, more essence and consistency of bonestorm. In nightmare dungeons this means you have EXTREME ammunts of sustain with the barrier and twice the effective HP compared to not having it due to barrier always being at 16-18k. More flicker evades also means higher speed through the dungeon. This is without a doubt superior for nightmare dungeons and will be faster through zirs labyrinth with less variance in effective hp - however. Ghostwalker is glorious. So I forgive a lack of this. The critwalker is not good, ghostwalker is the way. It is active while backtracking. While running around. While not critting. While screwing around. Critwalker isnt.
I must say that this was an absolute game changer! Focusing on lucky hit to maintain high essence have helped my build and progress tremendously compared to only blindly focusing on crit chance/damage. THIS should be the Bone Spear build on Maxroll! :)
Amazing, and I appreciate you confirming the bias I have that bone spear just doesn't need shako. Ive been running something very similar throughout the season. I will also say I hate ring of the sacrilegious, and and probably wont be running it for zir and I'd like to follow up with my reasoning. swapping the following items and aspects from your build to these is how I have it now. Ring of sacrilegious soul > Ring of Torment Tibaults will > Disobedience Disobedience helm > Deathless visage/Godslayer crown being able to gain crit on the ring replacement and using torment allows to remove bone splinters from out bar entirely and dive directly into out bone spear chucking power fantasy and keeping our essence almost always maxed. The loss of Sacrilegious is honestly only to our benefit when fights begin to be more technical and require well placed corpse tendril casts to ensure minions are pixel stacked, and spears are hitting them every time.
This is the best Bone Spear build in the game currently, hands down. For HC I'd stick with a Shaco though for AoZ and a 4/4 def pants but obviously for SC your build seems to be the chosen one.
We need builds that don't include Tibaults or Exposed flesh aspect. Neither of these exist in the game.Lidless wall is fairly common so I'm ok with that.
@@brianlutz7813I spend all my Obols on rings. My character is almost 100 and I have yet to have that aspect drop. I got Tibaults from a different character. If you even casually run Duriel you should get a Tibaults. I see so many people looking for groups to run Duriel rotations.
Level 96 here, I haven't gotten Tibaults yet but I have gotten about 10 exposed flesh aspects (and all of the less rare uniques). Just keep farming the blood harvests and repeatedly summon the bosses & blood seekers. I regularly get screens full of legendaries.@@brianlutz7813
I recommend swaping imbiber for a defensive glyph. It is absolute low tier glyph. It is additive and due to us having over 1500% in additive damage mods already, it simply does not deliver. I recommend building the defensive option of Exhumation which retains 100% uptime of fortification as well as giving a small damage reduction. This is contributing - together with permanent bonestorm from flicker boots - to a substantially higher permanent effective hp with 100% uptime of barrier and fortification with no frequent dips to less than a third effective hp.

First of all, I love your videos and just can't dislike your videos. I myself do 90-100 speed runs like SKULM with Lidless and still have a few things to think about. - Harlequin is not just more damage, probes that give 20% DR help keep the barrier up longer. - Blood Mist is good for bosses to trigger Flesh-Eater - Did you know the man with Aspect of Shielding Storm with Lidless is always full of Essence (except bosses)? I think so :). - The boss doesn't live long enough for Essence to have problems. PS: I don't even run with any Essecne producer (ring, gloves) and never have any problems. My 1-H weapon with Aspect of Shielding Storm is swapped with grandfather for the boss. Just dash and get the Essence + dmg multiplier back. EDIT: I test the lvl 100 BOSS Dummy and i need only 2 shots for it ;).
I run Doombringer + Lidless + Starless + Sacreligious. The amount of survivability I have is crazy. Getting 22k HP + 22k Fortify + 22k barrier with shielding storm is crazy good. Had to drop tendrils aspect but I do not run out of essence, I output great solid damage and I can't be killed.
Great breakdown ! I've been playing with different aspects on my ring to see how it affects my overall experience. Essence generation is a challenge vs bosses for me but I think this approach might work great. I have a few other aspects I am weaving in as I am not as tanky yet but just need some better gear ! thanks for this

I play HC, blood mist is a must to avoid dieing. It sucks being tied to it, the skill is very rarely used, but for situations of being trapped, those couple of seconds of being invincible to scroll of escape is crucial.
The problem with sacrilegious ring is its automatically corpse explosion. While it gives you constant trigger of flesh-eater, which is great, it consumes all corpses on the ground very quickly. As a result, when you really need corpse tendrils to gather and stun a group of monsters, you can't. And at high tier NM, that's more important than having the damage multipliers on at all time it provides. Also, I am not sure how you survive in NM100. The margin of error should be small. The problem in NM100 for Bone Spear necro is never damage, but the survivability. I have 10000 armor, 14500 life, 23.6% all damage reduction, 38.1% close reduction, 15.3% distant reduction, and I still got one shot by corpse bow, shocking waves from big knights. Many other monsters like bloated corpsefiend and the bears/bulls/trees can get me under 30% life in one shot. Yes I can push very cautiously, and clear everything before I proceed, but that feels slow. I usually just evade through everything until I get to the objectives, or a pack of elites. With that style of play, the margin of error is very small in NM100.
Are u using shielding aspect? Only thing I cant tank in nm100 is the silly bitcher, only got him to half hp soloing, but nothing can one shot me with 17k hp, 17k fortify and 17k barrier up 100% of the time!
How do you get fortify up 100% of time? It goes down very quickly, and you don't have a way to get that in boss fights. I have shielding, but that cant survive multiple hits by monsters, and you need to get close to accumulate barriers.
I switched to wand an lidless wall pre-season 1 and much preferred it. I kept my essence up, had faster attack speed and was way tankier than using a 2 hander.

Currently using this, but I’m using temerity for a little more damage reduction. I just had a grandfather drop, but I lost the serration aspect, so until I want to try and retool my aspects, this build is definitely doing better. And even with the retool it might not stack up. Dope! I've been maining BS necro since launch and this season decided to just build my own setup and its pretty damn close to this. I was weary of dropping the 2H for 1H and shield but Ive been taking too much damage using tibaults and a 2h sword. Also my main issue is just running out of essence on bosses or single target situations. And the lucky hit on the wand would help. Def going to tweak some things with my setup using this video for reference. Appreciate the guide!
What would you recommend dropping for starless skies? I assume sacrilegious? Is it worth dropping for Starless Skies? Also, for eternal when we don’t have metamorphosis, can I drop Decrepify for blood mist?
Great video, I had been running a 925 2h sword, but this makes me soooo much tankier. The only thing I would add is the lidless mechanic almost requires you to just haul A$$ so you don't drop your bone storms. If they fall off it's kind of annoying and you lose a ton of survivability.
You just have to hit a new enemy within 10 seconds to keep it going. You can even keep the barrier up without bonestorm active as long as you’re hitting a NEW enemy within 10 seconds.
I have not been running veins on my build for a while now. Im not complaining. Doombringer and lidless ftw. Splintering on my armlet serration on my hands disobedience on chest for content minus nmd timbrils will pants with starless skies and edgemaster on my other ring and helm os deathless. I rarely have ess issues anymore.
Just copied this build but I am using Mothers Embrace as a ring because I don't have the damn aspect for resources for some reason lol. But holly fuck, once I get that, game over! I was hitting on my last build I did for 120k-220k but after I was ramping up, however this build is 7k more attack power when in battle. I am hitting for 850k-1.2 million now - still don't have the correct gear, and or the BEST aspects rolls. WILD AS FUCK!
For bosses I recommend having a shield swap for a great offhand with crit, lucky hit restore, essence cost, lucky hit or similar. And a legendary power. It ups the damage a fair bit for a 1 click move when you enter the boss room.
For abattoir of zir, I think a helmet swap with disobedience is recommended and that you should use the unique helm for the rest of the content. This is because it seemed to be indicated that the levels in the final parts of the new instance is higher level. This means they will ignore your armour completely, because that is what another 50 monster levels does to your armour. Just try unequipping a thousand armour or two and see what happens in nm100, easily replicable.
Hi Macro. Thank you for this amazing build breakdown, very well explained. I have recently acquired a Doombringer and I would like to incorporate it on this build, as it seems almost mandatory for the % max life and damage reduction it provides when proc, for the Abbatoir. As I am also using Lidless wall, I am having a hard time to decide which aspect to loose for the Doombringer trade of. Between Serration and Splintering which one you believe it would be better to forfeit? Thank you and keep up the good work 👍
I don't have a doombringer sadly so I can't direct you super well. The answer is probably Serration unless you're at 100% crit without grasping Veins which I believe is impossible without a lot of dex rolls on gear.
For wands I recommend you mouse over the rare nodes and stuff of your paragon board and just see. What would I get if I had +42 to all stats? The doctors hate him for doing this one trick.
Is there any merit to one resource generation roll on ring or is it just not worth dropping any of the other 3 stats to pick it up? I guess that's effectively what you're achieving here by getting lucky hit chance in 3 places and dropping max life/crit chance/max essence isn't worth it either.
Im running a pretty similar build but im using the starless ring instead of the exposed flesh one and shako instead of deadless visage. My essence is 99% of the time at 100%.

Hey quick question... I'm running a HC Bone Spear Necro and I've got the Ring of Starless Skies. I feel its an AWESOME ring that allows me to cast BS nearly 20 times before emptying the globe of essence. Would I be better off to take it off and use the Ring of the Sacreligious and a good ring with Exposed Flesh or what would you recommend replacing?

There is no chance in hell you would avoid it if yo get lucky to have it! Shako..I can see the logic and even agree 100% but the remove the X on Gandfather...Its easy...If o have it USE IT! I dont have a shako (just a grandfather and starry sky) but that's good info on the hat. I always used deathless visage but good to know about needing 15k armor later on. Hat is a good spot for that. I would take tenacity though for this in the paragon tree. Gonna need it lol.
what if you don't have exposed flesh aspect? i'm level 94 and haven't seen a single one drop... with everything being built around lucky hit and procing that, is there anything to do in the mean time until i find it or should i just play another build?
Amazing video, i just wish there was another way to get lidless wall other than farming zir. Exquisite blood is so slow and annoying to farm, and it takes 9 to summon him!!
Starless Sky + 2hander/grandfather? is that something that would balance out a lot of these issues, but being a uber unique is a less obtainable solution? I've seen videos, but aside from dabbling in BS last season/pre-season i hadn't much cared to go again. so i wasn't paying much attention when someone spammed out BS with grandfather and starless sky, so i cannot say if their resource dropped enough that they would have been losing out on anything. especially when people want to laugh at it when removing all skills from your bar except BS.
I wouldn't play Bone spear without exposed flesh tbh, you don't need tibaults. You can use a 4/4 defensive pants with a two hander to make up the damage loss.
I finally got exposed flesh aspect! I tried it but strangely enough still prefer Band of Torment with the 170% increase to resource generation and then Osseous Gale for the other ring. This along with Lidless Wall and Grim Harvest keeps my essence at near 100% throughout. I'm guessing since I didn't get the aspect until I got to lvl. 100 that I've learned to live without it. Who knows. I'm able to handle lvl 100 NMD's with ease so just wanted to say that Exposed Flesh Aspect isn't really necessary to make Bone Spear work if you have Lidless. @@MacroBioBoi
I still feel bone spear with grandfather and deathless will outperform grandfather and shako. With the aspect being reworked for season 2 on deathless visage each explosion is another bone spear hit that procs lucky chance hits.
There is no such thing as overhealing you're essence, there is no aspect that keeps track of that so if exposed flesh procs while near max it's just lost essence

Currently using this, but I’m using temerity for a little more damage reduction. I just had a grandfather drop, but I lost the serration aspect, so until I want to try and retool my aspects, this build is definitely doing better. And even with the retool it might not stack up. Thank you for the explanation and the guide.
Dope! I've been maining BS necro since launch and this season decided to just build my own setup and its pretty damn close to this. I was weary of dropping the 2H for 1H and shield but Ive been taking too much damage using tibaults and a 2h sword. Also my main issue is just running out of essence on bosses or single target situations. And the lucky hit on the wand would help.

What would you recommend dropping for starless skies? I assume sacrilegious? Is it worth dropping for Starless Skies?
Also, for eternal when we don’t have metamorphosis, can I drop Decrepify for blood mist?

Great video, I had been running a 925 2h sword, but this makes me soooo much tankier. The only thing I would add is the lidless mechanic almost requires you to just haul A$$ so you don't drop your bone storms. If they fall off it's kind of annoying and you lose a ton of survivability.
You just have to hit a new enemy within 10 seconds to keep it going. You can even keep the barrier up without bonestorm active as long as you’re hitting a NEW enemy within 10 seconds.
I have not been running veins on my build for a while now. Im not complaining. Doombringer and lidless ftw. Splintering on my armlet serration on my hands disobedience on chest for content minus nmd timbrils will pants with starless skies and edgemaster on my other ring and helm os deathless. I rarely have ess issues anymore.
Just copied this build but I am using Mothers Embrace as a ring because I don't have the damn aspect for resources for some reason lol. But holly fuck, once I get that, game over! I was hitting on my last build I did for 120k-220k but after I was ramping up, however this build is 7k more attack power when in battle. I am hitting for 850k-1.2 million now - still don't have the correct gear, and or the BEST aspects rolls. WILD AS FUCK!
For bosses I recommend having a shield swap for a great offhand with crit, lucky hit restore, essence cost, lucky hit or similar. And a legendary power. It ups the damage a fair bit for a 1 click move when you enter the boss room.
might try this later on, currently testing all uniques, no problems on essence or dmg/survival

For abattoir of zir, I think a helmet swap with disobedience is recommended and that you should use the unique helm for the rest of the content. This is because it seemed to be indicated that the levels in the final parts of the new instance is higher level. This means they will ignore your armour completely, because that is what another 50 monster levels does to your armour. Just try unequipping a thousand armour or two and see what happens in nm100, easily replicable.
yes, when i play a dungeon and i take for example tibults and godslayer i loose 3k armor and just get oneshotted :D
Hi Macro. Thank you for this amazing build breakdown, very well explained. I have recently acquired a Doombringer and I would like to incorporate it on this build, as it seems almost mandatory for the % max life and damage reduction it provides when proc, for the Abbatoir. As I am also using Lidless wall, I am having a hard time to decide which aspect to loose for the Doombringer trade of. Between Serration and Splintering which one you believe it would be better to forfeit?

I don't have a doombringer sadly so I can't direct you super well. The answer is probably Serration unless you're at 100% crit without grasping Veins which I believe is impossible without a lot of dex rolls on gear.
I just got the doombringer last night on my necro. Would love to know what would be the most optimized build to utilize it.
For wands I recommend you mouse over the rare nodes and stuff of your paragon board and just see. What would I get if I had +42 to all stats? The doctors hate him for doing this one trick.

I suggest you to gamble from curiosities seller as much as you can.
Hi Macro, which is better for Abattoir of Zir? your Bone Spear Necro build or your Infinimist build?
I think they will both perform well with Infinimist having an easier entrance to the mechanics.
You're wrong for the aspect of serration, it starts at 50 essence not 90, it's 1% per essence above 50 up to a max of 40%
I'm not wrong. I say you get your maximum bonus at 90 essence, so dropping below that is a large loss of bonus damage.
Is there any merit to one resource generation roll on ring or is it just not worth dropping any of the other 3 stats to pick it up? I guess that's effectively what you're achieving here by getting lucky hit chance in 3 places and dropping max life/crit chance/max essence isn't worth it either.
Im running a pretty similar build but im using the starless ring instead of the exposed flesh one and shako instead of deadless visage. My essence is 99% of the time at 100%.

I don't recommend bone spear for leveling. You'll have a much better time on blood surge

Hey quick question... I'm running a HC Bone Spear Necro and I've got the Ring of Starless Skies. I feel its an AWESOME ring that allows me to cast BS nearly 20 times before emptying the globe of essence. Would I be better off to take it off and use the Ring of the Sacreligious and a good ring with Exposed Flesh or what would you recommend replacing?

Which D4 planner do I use for Zir, the Abattoir of Zir Bone Spear or Video Planner Bone Spear? Confused since your video title states Abattoir of Zir Setup but your exact planner in D4 is the Video planner Bone Spear and not the AOZ Bone Spear planner. lol thanks!

To get the Culler node you invest 8 paragon points to gain 5.1% attack speed... is it really necessary with a one handed weapon + Ravenous?
Like this great breakdown! Really cleared up alot...But please romoe the pic on this Video. Because the one thing o did not go through...was Grandfather. And since I played w/ it. There is no chance in hell you would avoid it if yo get lucky to have it! Shako..I can see the logic and even agree 100% but the remove the X on Gandfather...Its easy...If o have it USE IT! No way around it. Not that I found at least...But a great video and sorry if I maybe missed anything were you mention somthing about this?
That's just showing that the build doesn't need to use them to output high level content clear.

Ring of starless takes care of resources mgt specially if you have shako

In Boz lo scudoe l'assetto che lancia ossa ti fornisce una barriera é top. L unico mio problema è che non mi droppa ne shako ne nonno nonostante abbia fatto mille run. E poi non sono riuscito a battere lilith ma ho visto la tua build con spirito d ossa che prenderò spunto! What about using Doombringer sword? Would this exclude Lidless or would DOombringer _ Lidless be better than you posted?
Doombringer is terrible for damage except on blood builds. It's a cool tank option.
thinking about higher hp and therefor longer lasting monsters in AoZ would blighted corpse explosion be a viable option to keep disobedience ramped up thanks to the dot constantly triggering the aspect?

I think grandfather can still be a great addition, I just think Shako is sub optimal

I don't have a starless so I can't tell you the expected outcome but a lot of people like it.
I dont have a shako (just a grandfather and starry sky) but that's good info on the hat. I always used deathless visage but good to know about needing 15k armor later on. Hat is a good spot for that. I would take tenacity though for this in the paragon tree. Gonna need it lol.

If the boss dummy isn’t against the wall would it change that much?
Just means your damage is slightly slower as it takes more time for th3 splinters to reach the boss/target.
what if you don't have exposed flesh aspect? i'm level 94 and haven't seen a single one drop... with everything being built around lucky hit and procing that, is there anything to do in the mean time until i find it or should i just play another build?

They can drop other places and aren't super rare. I got my first from a NM dungeon. Just keep playing you'll end up finding multiple
Agreed, zor is slso such low lvl getting a high ilvl with decent rolls almost impossible. Took me 63 (!!!) kills to get a single lidless from zir…
Ring of the starless, shako, grandfather makes bone spear unstoppable. If you have them use them.
only starless i would say. shako and grandfather are good obv but its not always the best in slot

Starless Sky + 2hander/grandfather? is that something that would balance out a lot of these issues, but being a uber unique is a less obtainable solution? I've seen videos, but aside from dabbling in BS last season/pre-season i hadn't much cared to go again. so i wasn't paying much attention when someone spammed out BS with grandfather and starless sky, so i cannot say if their resource dropped enough that they would have been losing out on anything. especially when people want to laugh at it when removing all skills from your bar except BS.

Hard disagree, that's only vaguely relevant on bosses, everything else should be dead before tendrils procs on them
I hate the sound effect for corpse explosion. I HATE it. i use blood mist instead and lidless which helps.

Level 100 Bone Spear necro here. Can you do one without Tibaults or Exposed Flesh Aspect? Neither of these exist in the game.
I wouldn't play Bone spear without exposed flesh tbh, you don't need tibaults. You can use a 4/4 defensive pants with a two hander to make up the damage loss.
I finally got exposed flesh aspect! I tried it but strangely enough still prefer Band of Torment with the 170% increase to resource generation and then Osseous Gale for the other ring. This along with Lidless Wall and Grim Harvest keeps my essence at near 100% throughout.
I'm guessing since I didn't get the aspect until I got to lvl. 100 that I've learned to live without it. Who knows. I'm able to handle lvl 100 NMD's with ease so just wanted to say that Exposed Flesh Aspect isn't really necessary to make Bone Spear work if you have Lidless.

Splintering is much more important and I cover the aspect placements in the video.

I still feel bone spear with grandfather and deathless will outperform grandfather and shako. With the aspect being reworked for season 2 on deathless visage each explosion is another bone spear hit that procs lucky chance hits.
What 2H would you use for speed farm?
Serration of splintering if you don't intend to swap to a Lidless setup for certain scenarios.
You got a better chance at a shako than getting exposed flesh aspect to drop.
I think it's still better to use torment aspect and shaco. You'll get more tanky and most consistent resource generation.
Torment is actually trash, it doesn't give as much essence per second as it says it does on your character sheet.

There is no such thing as overhealing you're essence, there is no aspect that keeps track of that so if exposed flesh procs while near max it's just lost essence
