There was a sidequest where you have to take a dying tree to rest. Alexstraza interacted there with Ysera. During the quest Alexsz learned from her that death can be peaceful.
I think Ysera is only there to teach merithra how to fully replace herself.
That quest was a really beautiful thing that was spoiled by the ending interaction. Are you seriously telling me that Alextrasza, The Lifebringer, who has been alive for over 10,000 years, has never, EVER seen a peaceful death? Not even once? Not before ten minutes ago? Horseapples. I was about to point that one out as well. They do interact with each other, just unfortunately not in main quests, only in side quests which can easily be missed
I also came here to say that. You really do need to do all of the quest, not just the main ones to get the full story.
In the same way Kalecgos and Ebyssian had fleshed out stories to show why they were deserving of becoming the leader of their flights, I suspect Ysera had an expanded role for Merithra's story, but wasn't delivered as well
Except...... there was "NEVER" any necessary and sufficient or even reasonable explanation for why Kalecgos should be leader of anything, and neither for ebyssian. There was "NEVER" anything about Magic or Earth that any of those two ever revealed or showed or explained or used or elevated or protected. I literally had to yell at my computer screen when doing the Kalecgos quest back then and having him say the ridiculous word of 'family' ..... because the frelling blue dragonflight is not about borg collective family slavery.... it is about MAGIC. MAGIC. It is amazing to me that the replacement writers did so much character assassination against titans by complaining about arcane magic while the blue dragonflight NEVER USED ANY MAGIC FOR THE STORY!!!!!
Malfurion got sidelined because he was a beloved, strong (supposedly) male character from the good days of Warcraft. And writers have been moving away from that.. Will be slightly curious what Metzen will say about pushing woman in front of everything. Even in this last Amirdrassil scene, its ALL woman.
There is one reason why Malfurion wasnt engaged in an Emerald Dream patch, and its current irl politics which has no place in a fantasy game.

We had Malfurion in Bfa, his one good moment in the entirety of Wow. Wasnt he overpowered to fight grunts of the opposite faction? But when the FUTURE of his entire race is at risk, he is too powerful to help out? Makes sense, dude.

I will say this about the end: it was at least refreshing to not have a final raid boss die with “I was only trying to prepare for the bigger bad that is coming…”

@@OrchinX What the frell are you talking about? Illidan in Black Temple "NEVER" did a "bigger bad is coming" routine. Sargeras "NEVER" appeared in the archimonde fight. The Argus fight "NEVER" had anybody mentioning any "bigger bad is coming" routine.

One thing I found noteworthy during the final chapter questline was that during your visit of various characters across the Dragon Isles prior to the big feast, you meet with the gnoll Mon-Ark who mentions that Decatriarch Wratheye (who we haven't seen mentioned since her escape at DF's launch) will want to corrupt Amirdrassil with decay magic so Mon-Ark is going to lead the gnolls there to protect it. Considiering that Amirdrassil is a whole zone now, I wouldn't be surprised if this is part of the epilogue questlines.
I know that some people want playable Gnolls, perhaps that could happen with Gnoll Mon-Ark and his gnolls.

Ysera has been the Baine of this expansion: They made a huge deal about getting her back only to have her sit on her ass until she leaves again
I just want to say this. Dragonflight has not been perfect but it has been such an improvement on the last two expansions on so many levels. And think of all the features, quality of life changes, things that we never dreamed would happen in the game. And they still haven't stopped with 10.25 bringing dynamic flight across the whole of Azeroth and follower dungeons which is amazing for people who struggle in pugs. And no doubt there is still more to come. So I am very happy, enjoying WOW more than I have in years and the future is very bright!
Ysera's return was meant to solidify Merithra's place as the new Aspect. The more she would have done, the less credible that plot moment would have been.
My issue is the lack of player-character involvement in cutscenes. It would be nice if we didn't just stand there in the background like some weird voyeur and instead were front and centre so that story and gameplay didn't feel so detached.
They always add a See what happened button usually the week after the raid releases for people that don’t want to raid. Not sure how everyone keeps forgetting that.

My money is on what happened is the last bit of sabotage from Bobby and his cronies before they go out the door. I wouldn't put it past them to try and cause some issues out of spite since Metzen and the new CEO want to focus on content quality over the business model they've been pushing.
No he couldn't, Ysera's is Merithra's mom, Malfurion is just some random elf to her. If you'd be nervous or insecure about becoming aspect, who'd you ask for advice, the previous aspect, widely respected and your mom, or Malfurion Stormrage, not an aspect, and someone you haven't interacted with at all.

The reunion of Ysera and Merithra was beautiful, but we didn't really need Ysera to return. Malfurion would have made more sense.
But he's a male and the writers wanted a near 100% female cast.
@@bradikins00 I doubt that's really the case, but I don't buy the devs excuse either. Sure, they might think one race can't have two leaders, but it still makes no sense. Tyrande and Malfurion are a power couple, much like my blood elf paladin and rogue.
Is anyone going to talk about that fight between Odyn and Var? I mean she literally snapped her fingers and ice block him without any preparation. Now you all might hate him an all but did none of you find it weird at all how that feat is possible for her when she wasn't even empowered by azeroth?
The only reason for the Malfurion swap that I can see being reasonable outside of "bring her back but make it sad" would be Malfurion learning the death side of druidism and all the knowledge the Drust had
They did it on purpose because they needed an excuse to kill him off for later. They obviously want to do something emerald dream related in the future and need him there for now to set it up.
I fell like epilogue robbed night elves from content and it's really depressing. Amidrassil was supposed to represent hope for the night elves, but for no reason it ended up on the dragon ilses, far from NE homelands. Blizzard has shown the burning of Teldrassil in CGI, many custscenes, in game cinematics, books and other media, but Amirdrassil appearance on Azeroth didn't even have its own quest. We got a short cutscene after it was all over Tree itself just appeared from nowhere without any cool visuals. When the blessing of the aspects stole a moment that should belonged to the manifesting Amirdrassil.
The night elves have gotten more content since legion than orcs and other races

It had a whole questline about its appearance lmao??? Home isn’t a place, it’s a people. At one point Night Elf homelands was the entire mega-continent, it’s changed before, it can change again now.

Night elf simps always seem to be complaining about how they are treated in story, when they have gotten more attention than any other race
Ysera exists in this expansion to hand the reigns off to Merithra. She saves her and then gives her the talk for her to lead.
I'm pretty sure Ysera not doing anything was kind of the point. We brought her back because Tyrande & co. felt that she was needed, but in fact, Merithra was the one who had to act all along, and Merithra's arc makes that very clear. We did not actually need Ysera, and Ysera tells Merithra as much--it was, however, nice for Ysera to be able to be there for her daughter while Merithra was going through all this. I thought it was very effective.
If anyone thinks this expansion has been low in quality they will never enjoy this game again.
Maybe Blizzard will learn and listen to our feedback and actually create an awesome story eventually...

I've seen people legitimately asking for them to cancel retail to make Classic their main focus, even asking for a new Classic expansion lol. I'm so happy it's not happening, I cannot wait for them to get out of my game (probably to go tell people Demon Souls better than Elden Ring cause it's older)
DF was great, the only big flaw was the story and WW looks like it's gonna fix that. I have a feeling WW will be the peak of WoW and I'm stoked.

I'd like to see some late patch dungeons. Dawn of the Infinite is the only post-release dungeon we've gotten thusfar this expac.
That'd be nice. The last mid-expansion dungeon release that wasn't a megadungeon was in (unsurprisingly) Legion.
there is also another side quest which alextrazsa and ysera work together to ease the pain/grief of an achient tree
Oh, and I have tried the follower dungeons on the PTR. Absolutely bloody brilliant! The tank is the captain from Exiles Reach and she is a pretty good tank, a lot better than a few pugs I have endured ;-) Best new game feature in years! And if it ends up using your Warband and expands to heroics, mythic zero and time walking, (not mythic + obviously). Maybe even normal mode raids in the future? Imagine if the NPCs talked you through all the mechanics, how helpful would that be to learn from? And besides LFR is so toxic!
WoW needs to spend way more time on characters to build up for emotional pay offs, we spend far too little time with very important characters and we don’t get to see them interact with each other much either. The whole “coming together as a family” thing would work if they felt like a family, but they didn’t. There’s a huge disconnect between the in universe character and what we see in game, I really hope they fix that because WoW has characters that are worth caring about, but they get done dirty by the story telling
the quest to give an offering and the offerings are things from shadowglen and dolanaar though.........right in the feels that one
The truth is there is a quest by the eye of ysera with alexstraza and ysera that teaches alexstraza that some times it is ok to let go when it is some ones time
There is actually a pretty endearing side quest in this patch where Ysera teaches Alexstrasza that not all death is sad, death can be a celebration of life too.

It was great but it was also like the 4th time that had happened. Just off the top of my head there was a chain in the centaur lands, the one with the Tuskarr, the one with Senegos and now the one with the tree. All in one expansion; all with the same message “Deaths need not be violent and can be a celebration of a life lived and new life to come”.
Each time the message is less impactful and each time the feeling you are being condescended to rises. Messages can be subtle. Do it too much and you feel like you’re being beaten over the head with it.
It kind of falls apart when you think for two seconds that not only are these two sisters eons old, but Alex is the Aspect of LIFE. Would you find it bizarre if Metzen came up to Didier today to talk about basic colour theory?
Hmmmm so blizz release something buggy again, people gain things from it , so they revert them all back........weird how they cant fix bugs that give no benefit to players and is usually a detriment and if they do fix them it takes years..... but any bug that gives a benefit to players it gets fixed within a few hours of being found.

Ysera's story in Dragonflight was always simple and made sense - as long as you grind the Renown to unlock it.
The entire reason we traded Malfurion was because the Emerald Dream was invaded and our primary entrance was blocked. So, we spoke to Ysers and got in through Ardenweald.
Yes, it's completely contrived. At best, it exists just to make sure we understand Ardenweald and the Emerald Dream are connected.
After that, Ysera has only stuck around to give pep talks to Merithra. They made sure we all knew that Ysera would be gone for good and this other character we don't really know would be the new Aspect of the green flight.
Could they have done more with Ysera or shown her with Alexstrasza? Sure. Maybe the story would be better if they had. But the story they told isn't confusing. I expected to get Malfurion back before the end of the expansion. I will be surprised if he doesn't reappear in 10.2.5.
They didn't like community's understanding of getting rid of Malfie as he was too powerful, so they decided to bring him back.

they did do something with yesera cause she was there to find out she no longer is the green dragon aspect and to help her daughter embrace her role as the new true dragon aspect for the green dragonflight. It is as plain writing as it is. yesera daughter and everyone respected and looked up to her but her own daughter had trouble really accepting that she is now the leader not her mother no more. The story shows new beginnings for both the black dragonflight and the green and blue dragonflights. Malfurion will come back later in the futurre he is to much a fan favorite in wow. Be patient and give the team a chance to work at it
They have been working on for years and ruined it. I used to love the lore and bragged about it to everyone. It was like playing in a wonderful book. Now it’s bland, uninspiring, no conflict, no complexity, no growth in the characters, it’s all just bland as a piece of white bread. no taste no flavor and no use
There is a World Quest with Alexstrasza and Ysera at the Eye of Ysera. Missing was when Ysera appeared.
The Ysera Part isn`t right - you have a small sidequest with Gracus death and she is "spending" time with her sister there. Maybe there are more sidequests hidden.
I think Ysera was less about getting Ysera back and more about removing Malfurion. He’s so powerful I don’t think the writers know what to do with him. So they just removed him off the board.

@@cameronmcewen7192 with the Warbands? Generally I feel like DF has made it easier to get more than several characters to a similar progression point, especially in terms of gear. Don't get me wrong, I don't think they planned on Alts being as integral as they are now, but I feel like they're finally listening. Slow change is still change 🤷🏻♂️

My annoyance with the new tree isnt the fact that its in the dragon isles so long as the night elves do go back to Kalimdor and rebuild in Darkshore and Ashenvale.. what annoys me about the new tree is the color pallete, i want the dark purpleish night vibes and dark forests that make me relate to the night elves. This new tree is just to bright for my tastes

This is the problem with the tech industry, when u just put people that don’t have real staff experiences (HR, project management, & etc) in positions they shouldn’t be shit like this will always be an issue. The industry tends to just throw devs people into those positions and they shouldn’t even be close to them it always leads to shit like the shitshow we have in the story telling & the sexual assault and harassments blizz had face.

I’m going with the Malfurion is to powerful theory, so they always have to do something that takes him out of the story.
If that's the case, this would have been a good opportunity to de-power Malfurion by having him use up a (greater or lesser) portion of his power to help bring Amirdrassil from the Emerald Dream into Azeroth. It could have involved Cenarius saying something like, "The birth of a new world tree will require a sacrifice, my son." And then Malfurion and Tyrande could have looked at each other before Malfurion turns back to Cenarius and says, "I am ready." Then Cenarius, Merithra, and Malfurion all glow, there's a flash, Amirdrassil gets born into Azeroth. Cenarius is left standing, Merithra puts a hand to her head, and Malfurion is slumped onto his knees. Tyrande goes to him, and when he stands up, his hair has changed to a silver-white color. Tyrande goes to him and puts her hand on his shoulder as he straightens up fully. There could have been some more dialogue about how it took the power of a WIld God, the Green Aspect, and the most powerful archdruid working together to bring about Amirdrassil, and how the essence of all three are now part of the tree.
I just finished all the quests and saw the cinematics. I must say it was nice. Yeah, it was a bit different but not as bad as you make it out to be. Kalec had that Vin Diesel family moment that was cringe I agree but the rest felt really nice. Especially when you talked to the npcs during the party. You met so many of them at the start of the expansion, quested with them and now the circle is complete. They also started talking about hearing the voice so it nicely shifts into a new expansion.

The least engaging story in years. Very poor writing, too many unicorns and rainbows. Hope Metzie puts things in order and we get a good story with good plot twists, all in game, not books.
Releasing the features of the next patch two weeks after 10.2 shows that Blizzard just wants to get the rest of DF out of the way to get to TWW. It's like "we need to get these transitionary features out of the way asap so players won't get turned away until TWW releases because DF obviously doesn't have any of the cool stuff we announced at Blizzcon".
DF is an afterthought at this point and I'm okay with this.
TWW doesn’t launch until next November, which is why there should be a 10.3.
When Blizz said there wouldn’t be one, they lied.
DF had one purpose: to help clean up the mess of Shadowlands and create a blank slate for future expansions. And it's done that pretty darn well. The expansion's pretty mediocre in general, in my opinion (about on par with Cataclysm, I'd say - not great, but not terrible), but has been just good enough to keep WoW from being thoroughly flushed after the back-to-back smelly pile of the latter half of BfA and Shadowlands.

the aspects are now a hivemind under azeroth's influence
come the last titan, we'll have to end the aspects ourselves, kill the worldsoul before she hatches/escapes and someone (anduin) will take her place, who can then infuse us with enough power to stop the titans in a council style final battle leaving the planet in our hands

I would love to experience the main story bits that happen in the raid without actually doing the raid, like they did with Anduin in Shadowlands. I thought this way to tell the story would be continued going forward

I wish this game was good again. Every time I watch your videos I log into retail bc I’m hyped. And every time I log in I’m immediately met with stuff all over my screen, and nothing to really do. So I just log off. Just doesn’t feel good to play anymore. Classic is so much better and I’m glad they are taking it seriously. SoD should be pretty interesting and a new way to play without it being a menu simulator.

Calling the game itself low quality is bad faith
The game itself is a good looter dungeon crawler right now but the narrative and the characters are the weakest aspect of the game, which is often what people overlook when they get hung up on trying to compare XIV and WoW
If we have actual good moments, intimate moments mind you when we can *share* it with the characters, then narrative and character interaction would be well on it’s way to being decent
I myself have come back since BfA, thankfully missing shadowlands and I could not care for any of the current cast of characters. I do not know them or can say I’ve shared any personal and intimate moments with them. This feels like I’m in a movie more than fighting alongside comrades.
I really wish higher masculine people were in charge of writing dragonflight. You can practically tell almost every scene was written by a woman or guys a little too in touch with their feelings. Nothing cool happens

It is true that Ysera seems like a wasted potential there, particularly when it comes to switching places with Malfurion but I do belive Merithra needs guidance and she has the Azeroth's blessings so maybe it wouldn't make sense for Ysera to reclaim the aspect seat now... I don't know actually, it's not like she wouldn't be able to guide Merithra had she not come back to Azeroth, but it is what it is I guess. Regardless, I can see that the overall dragonflight story and the worldsoul saga aligning perfectly like the stars in the sky. To me, story feels like it's gonna have a much better transition than recent expansions, especially within wordsoul saga itself. So while these small details leave a lot to be desired from Blizzard, I have clarity and I do see a closure for the dragonflights, as in, they are now united. Primal (at least those that follow Vyranoth), Dracthyr or Aspectral. I am overall very satisfied with Dragonflight.
Honestly, unless they change the game drastically ( class gameplay, different progression formula or something), i wouldn't say the new expansion(s) will be any different from dragonflight.
The lore could change drastically and all but the gameplay still hasn't changed much since legion, every iteration since has been a rework of the legion design with a fresh coat of paint yet still not as interesting as legion's class design was imo.
It's always the same content every expansion too, new zone, new dungeons, a new raid, some side attraction that ends up being either a chore or irrelevant and it's back to the same thing next expansion.
I'm a tank doing outdoor content only, have done the campaign right up to the raid part. Can I do raid on an alt and still get campaign completion?
Does anyone actually care about the dragon power rangers or any of these other characters?

ysera and alexstrazsa do actually meet in a sidequest prior to this cinematic - that's the problem with analyzing a cinematic and spoiling yourself before completing the story. That isn't Blizzard's fault, in this case. However, overall Ysera basically did nothing, it seems like she was just there for emotional support in what they show.
If i want to try wow, how can i play it so i get all the lore and can play all dungeons this many years after its release?
I think Ysera was brought in literally to help Merithra's transition into becoming an Aspect.
Which makes no sense, because Merithra never did anything as a character..... we don't know anything about her, she wasn't competent to do anything and never once told us anything about what the Dream is or what it is for. Malfurion would have been a THOUSAND percent more helpful in the emerald dream.

Malfurion being helpful in the dream has "NEVER" been dependent upon being a dragon, we didn't need any dragons, nor any aspects, we got in because of our earlier work establishing the dream portal. Malfurion had emerald dream access already due to his archdruid status. The end. Your reply was of no value at all.

i REALLY DISLIKE that literally everything gives 424-437 gear but not older raids.
why is 5man heroic 10-35 ilvl higher then tier 1-2 raids on heroic?

Really like how the “boosted” character drops you into the action with new 424 gear for those holding back it’s a free-skip-to new content token if you are planning to stick with WOW
Y it was a good move by Blizzard..I think that alone sells many pre-order expansions.. I've played whole of DF and I kinda wish I could just have boosted to renown 20.. would have saved so much time lol 😑
