    I wanted to go default UI, but I found that I was installing too many addons to change the look (fonts/textures) that I just went back to ElvUI+ToxiUI. I love it. Very clean and minimal right our of the box. Another thing I didn't like about Blizz's UI is they can't just do N1, N2, N*, MWU, M5 etc for keybinds. They all say num, num, num, mous. I'm left handed and I actually _use_ my mouse in my left hand (apparently not all lefties do that??) so all of my binds are on my numpad. I keep my binds similar across all classes/specs, but sometimes I need to quickly look to see what bind a rarely used utility spell is on and then I just end up clicking it because it would take too long to figure it out. Every UI addon maker can do keybind text properly, but it's something Blizz didn't even bother with.

      I'm left handed but I do still use my right hand for the mouse. I'll never be a professional FPS gamer due to using the mouse in my non dominant hand, but it's completely fine otherwise 😊

      Most textures can be replaced just by updating the associated file. Many texture packs exist to replace textures, icons, and of course fonts. Obviously, those replacements also cost zero memory or CPU. Highly recommend!

      @@bradmiles1984 I will have to respectfully disagree. Its the little things that make or break the game, and unnescessary in game ram *will* bite you in the arse sooner or later.
      Maybe you lost that spot on that group that was filling up fast, or couldnt make the tag on a rare mob in time. Wanna guess who the culprit was or at least played a role on both of those cases and many others like soloing something and wiping at 1%? In game ram which slows you down and adds unnescessary lag to your client.
      Add to that the fact that the game itself is sorta poorly optimised to begin with and you can understand that its best to not take any chances even on high end hardware.

Your game performance had way more to do with your cpu, wow always has been a cpu bound game. Unless addon is malfunction which makes it produce calls constantly it won't impact performance unless your running on a low end PC. You can disagree but running actual tests don't line up with your opinion. Maybe it's something with your hardware if your having issues. I've never had latency problems or getting to rares in them to tag. Even in full raid runs I get 120 fps with less than 25 ms latency. I can't speak to your rig but I've tested on mine and it's less than fps difference if I let it go past the 165 frames my monitor can handle when capping at my refresh rate it's identical. Everyone's performance will vary based on hardware and connection.

      @@bradmiles1984 I hear what you are saying. I cap my graphics and fps to save on overall resources and system temperature. All that being said i agree about cpu being the undeniable king for wow. My system runs wow smoothly as i have an i7 and a 3060ti as well as 32gb of ram, yet as i said i like to play on the defense because i really suffered during the pandemic playing with a 10 year old rig which made me really want to chill out and sorta never let the game extend my resources but rather be effective with what i have regardless of graphics. So i tend to keep those at 5/10 too.
      Also yes, i ran a few old addons which may be affecting me slightly but honestly iam not aware of anything else that might be. I feel like 100fps is more than enough for most content (i used to have it at 80, but noticed the performance suffering during levelling a bit). Where i notice the most inconsistence is outside world, instance content has never ever been a problem even when i was running it on my old potato. Also my internet sucks bigtime capped at 20mbps.
      I do realise none of the above warrant any issues for me and honestly its more of ''being overcautius'' than actualy dealing with performance scemantics. Iam the sort of person who gets annoyed when i experience the slightest lag so yeah in my case in game memmory definitely needs to be kept in check.

    Is there any reason to skip ElvUI though? That is my question. You started using default UI for some elements but then went and downloaded new addons for other elements
    If you want default character portraits you can disable ElvUI's character portraits. If you want to have the new trend, Cell, for example, you can disable ElvUI's raid frames.
    This is the convience of ElvUI! You download one addon instead of 30.

      It’s a CPU intensive addon even with modules off. That’s the main reason I removed it. I saw a good performance boost from making the swap, but no two builds are alike and if you’re having FPS issues it may not stem from just this. Mileage will vary, usually when addons are causing significant fps drops or high ram usage it is because the addon is throwing up a bunch of errors in the background. One thing that can be helpful is the two addons bug grabber and bug sack. They will record the errors and notify you so you can look at the errors to see what is causing issues.

    • @985steve
      @985steve 15 дней назад

      @bradmiles1984 but now your talking about malfunctioning add-ons, which in both cases can happen since instead of elvui he is suggesting three others. The point to transition would be if just by swapping the add-ons and both worked as intended if there is difference.
      From what I have seen the memory difference is barely minimum and weak auras which is used in both cases takes so much more memory that you won't notice a y difference. But that is my case feel free to test it out yourself.

    • @bradmiles1984
      @bradmiles1984 15 дней назад

      @985steve I don't know what you are going on about. I never said elvui or his setup was better. I was pointing out the fact that most add-ons unless you're on a low power system typically have no impact on fps unless they are throwing errors. It's why. I said mileage will vary. No one can give you a for sure answer since we don't know your hardware or addon setup. In general if you are not playing on a potato PC add-ons aren't affecting your performance to a degree you'd notice if they are performing normally. You get performance degradation when they are throwing hundreds of errors per minute because those bad programming calls mess with wows game engine which is already heavily cpu bound.
