We love doing freezer meals. And recently we have started doing individual freezer dinners. We have a nephew that loves Hungry Man dinners, and since I am a personal chef I thought I could make him Farm Man dinners, since we live on a farm, that would have less additives and be more tasty. And I would also dinners already in the freezer, ready to pop in the oven or microwave when we have had a long busy day on the farm. Well we cannot believe how God is blessing. The word is out and I am now making individual freezer meals for a number of seniors in our community, plus my regular clients. And since we use fresh ingredients the meals taste fresh when you heat them. Freezer meals are great, I know it has saved us from coming in hungry and just ordering a pizza, or going to get fast food because we are too tired to cook. Thank you for sharing your meal ideas with all of us out here. Stay safe and healthy. God Bless.

@@Barbaracoyle I use Freshware Meal Prep Containers that you can purchase from Amazon. They are great! I use the 3 compartment containers the most. But I also use the 1 compartment containers for meals for my parents, and lunches for my husband.

That's awesome Amy! I'm also planning to prepare and store freezer meals for my family of 4 on monthly basis.. If I cook food and store in freezer bags, how do you thaw them when you are ready to eat? Overnight in refrigerator or oven? Also, for how long do you normally store cooked food? I know raw meat etc. can store for upto 6-8 months easily, but I'm wondering more about cooked food. Thanks in advance and waiting for your reply!!

    • @amymaryon
      @amymaryon  3 года назад

We sometimes thaw them for a few days..it takes that long or if i forgot then I go straight from freezer. Cook at a lower temp to avoid overcooked food. Usually i store 2-3 month...6 is longest..I usually clean out the freezer by then

In Puerto Rican cooking, we use a cooking base called SOFRITO that is similar to how you blend veggies. Ours consists of onion, pepper, cilantro & garlic. The traditional has a couple more ingredients but that's our base we use for everything!

Having meals prepared ahead is such a great idea. One never knows what can come up and you already have all the ingredients you need. When needed during illnesses almost anyone can put them in the crockpot, oven, or pressure cooker and they're fed. Everyone should have a weeks worth of meals prepped ahead.

I know space is always a premium in my freezer, but recently I’ve started freezing things (example your puréed onions) in ice cube trays. Once they’re frozen I put the cubes in a freezer bag and they’re in serving/seasoning sizes. Take whatever you need - 1 cube, 2 cubes, etc. Love your videos.

I love having my ground beef and shredded chicken cooked up, portioned out and in the freezer. It saves so much time! I have a smaller fridge and the freezer isn’t big enough to have too much extra in there but having those meats ready to go is half the meal prep and every little bit of time and energy saved is another minute to spend with my family.
Love and blessings to you sweet lady.

Ya know, I have been watching your vlogs a long time, was going through and found that somehow I missed this one....anyways, as far as people always asking you why not just make everything fresh, why do you do so many freezer meals....? Ya I would say well I prefer to know what's in my meals, so when I can't do fresh, I pull from my home freezer, like other people will buy from a fast food restaurant or by store bought freezer food, my food is cheaper and healthier for my family this way, it works for us to have easy quick homemade freezer meals..... I think that you doing this makes so much sense, and WOW I know it saves you money!! You don't need excuses as to why you prefer to keep your family on a budget, as well as feeding them nutritious meals!!!! Great job!! 👍 being a good Stewart with the food & money God gives you. 🙌❤

My goodness. I don't understand why someone would complain about watching you make freezer meals when your videos clearly state you are in fact, making freezer meals! Honestly, I'm not sure how I'd manage without them. I work full time, go to school full time, home school my daughter and am the sole care taker for both my mom & daughter. I have never missed having dinner on the table because of freezer meals. If someone in my house would dare to complain about it, then they simply just don't need to eat.( no one has yet to complain about my food) On my freezer meal prep day, I usually will make the same 14 dinners, but I make 8 of each. The freezer containers line up perfectly in my freezer. Yes, it takes all day but that's over 100 dinners done in one day! I will usually do freezer meals 5 days a week, then cook for two days. Works out in my household perfectly ♡
Tyfs your journey and meals with us!!!

Wow I am out of breath just watching you put those meals together. I am inspired. See you tomorrow for Bible reading and Sunday for online church. And looking forward to breakfast freezer meals. I love the purple flowers on the bank behind you in the outside video. Fall colors showing too. Have a wonderful day whatever you are doing today. Possibly the breakfast meals. Bye bye! 💙🍕🍗🍖🧆🥘🥧🍅🥦🧄🧅🥕🌄🌞💙Now sit in the sun a while.

Amy, you make meals look so easy! Can I ask, what is your monthly food budget? And do you shop at a regular grocery store or Costco? Do you have an extra deep freezer or two that you keep in the garage? I think your system is inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing your insights.

We budget 125 to 150 per person for all household food and supplies...i have one big freezer up in my dining room and 2 regular refrigerator/freezers..we just got rid of one freezer as we don't need it . I shop at discount stores and regular ones

Nice idea to blend those veggies together. I didn't have any picky eaters so they all learned distinct flavors and all 3 are awesome cooks. Each one cooks differently too.

Grated veggies and fruit added into a lot of meals hides things too but gives it a bit of a texture so not too thin!

Fabulous and beyond. I need some of your energy! LOL Everything looks delicious and I am excited for breakfast meals. I am loving prepping things ahead in retirement as I am 54 years into marriage and hubby retired 11 years ago and I want to retire too. LOL I'm not sure how that works however. Someone has to continue to keep things up and running smoothly! LOL
I enjoy your channel and please keep it going.......love your family as well. Such a sweet dear family you have raised!

If I'm lucky enough to remember to defrost something in the morning then the rest takes care of itself 😂, then again it's me and my son so I can get away with last minute meals... clearly you can't but you've really made things easier for yourself and that's all you can do.

It has been a while since I've watched your videos and I'm always getting inspiration from your once a month meal Preps. I wish I had enough freezer space to do what you do but I do like having some of those things in my freezer 2. Lots of love from Kanata Ontario Canada

I partially prep with cut and marinated chicken for meals to throw on the grill which usually goes with rice. I do spaghetti sauce, chicken broth and enchilada sauce to freeze. Sometimes I do double batch of chili or salsa sloppy joes to freeze which is helpful later when busy. The only thing I make consistently is lasagna. One for dinner that week and one for the freezer. I don’t have the energy to do everything in one day but I do like double cooking so the kitchen is only dirty once. Freeze the extra and meals ready to go!

Thank you so much Mrs Maryon I will be making freezer meals hopefully for at least 3 months is my goal! Needed ideas so excited now! Pregnant with my second and my first will be 10months old in a couple of days so I need as much help as I can get! He is pretty needy and clingy! Hopefully if I can break up the cooking he will be okay with it!
