Great video Michael, enjoyed the sewer hose jokes lol. I think I'm going to switch from the climateright connectors to the valterra connectors on the front of my a/c box. Sucks about the wiring. Hope to see you at a future meetup.
Just found you channel and loving the content. I have a climate right like this. I used sewer hoses like this also. But what I did was used the wall shelf bracket and set it up to use the fender as support and set my unit on it. Was able to make my hoses much shorter and keeps the unit off the ground.
Genius! The window unit is perfect. Mr Ed ! Ed you should make a conversion kit for this and you could kick in a monster RV. You could have hot and cold running women , wam they're all cold eventually.
I modified a window unit, I had to add a blower fan on the return and I wrapped the cold air hose in reflectix, taped with true duct tape, was able to keep my unit 80 when it was 100 plus in direct sunlight
Awesome as per past performance. Great vid. We’ve camped without AC for years and this year we stared researching. So this is great,…7 pin trailer plug!? Priceless!!
Another great video Michael. Man, you're making me famous. Seriously I am honored you have interest in my little projects. The diy a/c has undergone some evolutionary improvements since you did the video. I still use it. One thing I might add about the ClimateRight unit. They came with duct hose & fittings but it is my understanding they were cumbersome and not high quality. Most people did what you have done and use sewer hose. Look forward to our next camping adventure. It's always a great time.
I’ve had that footage in my back pocket for a while now, but knew it would come in handy someday. You’re a DIY master Mr.Ed! I look forward to our next one.
they make 4 inch insulate heat duct hoses, not only is the sewer hose black but its too long and its got too much surface area, think of it like an old radiator, all those cool looking expansion rings are cooling loss surfaces.
When heating a space, heat down low and reserc up high. When cooling reverse it. Cool up high and reserc low. You need the move the air where you need it. Hot rises and cool drops.
Excellent video Michael! Maybe you can sew a white cloth sleeve for those hoses?? It would collapse with the hose. And you are also right about Ed. Great guy. We have camped with him several times with the Tearjerkers.
I really like this design. Right now I'm focused on just getting my rig built (just glued up the interior plywood onto the walls) but this is so cool and I love that you can choose to leave the AC behind if you're not going to need it. I laughed way too hard at the babe ruth joke. I'm glad no one was around to hear me snort.
Awesome video & thank you for sharing your experiences as well as Ed's conversion of the window unit. I have a pop-up truck camper & want to add AC (without adding weight to the roof or having a window unit hanging off the side/back).
They make a HVAC wrap you can put around your hoses and it helps tremendously. I had that same unit but up graded to the big brother one because the condenser leaked around the copper 90s. With insulated hoses and the bigger unit I had my teardrop stay at 60 inside when it was 104 outside. For the wrap measure the outside diameter of your hoses and there is a insulated wrap that will fit.
That’s awesome. I have a setup like Edwin’s. Some things I did to make it perform better was to put it on a table to get the unit as close to wall connections. That allows you to shorten the hose and expose less hose to sun. Also, I put a bilge blower in-line on one of the hoses. It moves air significantly better. AC fan isn’t meant to move air through hoses and angles. Bilge blower does come with a noise penalty but worth it. (By the way, I bought one of those spring punches because I saw it in one of your old build videos. Use it all the time.)
People told Edwin, "you can't use a widow air conditioner that way". I know you can and Edwin proved it! I hate it when the majority is a know it all, when they dont. Good show Edwin! 👍👍
One of those A/C unit came with my vintage teardrop but no remote and I cant find one that works for it anywhere. I already have the vents cut in teardrop
I just went to Climateright’s website and see they have just remotes for sale. Lots of items on their site are listed as out of stock, but not the remotes. Maybe they still sell them? Here’s the link: climateright.com/collections/replacement-parts/products/cr-remote
I am assuming your title was intended to get views. Why would anyone use a used sewer hose?! Great job. By the way I gave you kudos on my trailer build video. Showing what the other guy did with his AC was excellent.
Great video as always. Look into like kitchen vent hose, they're smoother on the inside as they're made to flow air. Also flexible because they are replaced rather than cleaned with all the grease coming from frying pans etc. It would improve airflow and lower the noise. Aluminium lined and more often white outer colout. Google kitchen vent hose. Thanks again for sharing your build.
Easiest way to shield your sewer hoses would probably be to use flexible metal foil dyer duct over top of it. It would expand and contract with the sewer hose.
I really wonder what happened to them as it seems like there are plenty of uses to sell these guys to. hopefully, another company will come out with something similar soon for us all. I think you should do a DIY one as well then compare how the two work... and so I will know how to do mine lol
I just watched this video as I'm looking to add some cooling to our project and was surprised bu the shout-out. Thanks Michael
I lost it at the baby ruth skit 😂
Great upgrade!
That's one slick fix.
Another great video Mike, The baby ruth gave me a flashback of Bill murray in caddyshack🤣
Love this channel. Great informative video.
Thank you!
So amazing!!!
i sure am glad i saw this video-i have a 2500 climateright too,but my hoses and fittings crapped out, thanks,i like watching your videos
Glad I could help!
I have one on my 2015 Retro Ride. Climate Right works good. Thanks for the videos
Also my hoses are white…
Great video Michael, enjoyed the sewer hose jokes lol. I think I'm going to switch from the climateright connectors to the valterra connectors on the front of my a/c box. Sucks about the wiring. Hope to see you at a future meetup.
Bill Murray would be proud !!! LOL Thanks for the vid !
Man I've been looking for a climateright for a while now. Good find
It was a super lucky eBay find. I didn’t believe it at first, but sure nuff it arrived in the original (beat up) box.

You should make a video of the conversion Ed did. That would help out a lot of us TD ppl.
Gold star for the Caddyshack reference.
Great video guys! I love it when I find candy like that. Bill Murray would be proud.😂🤣
You're so funny with the Baby Ruth candy bar
Another great video!!
Try a Dryer vent hose.
Thank you!!
One my DIY system I found that the fans do not move enough air. So I added inline duct fans to give the air circulation a boost and it helped greatly.
Genius! The window unit is perfect. Mr Ed ! Ed you should make a conversion kit for this and you could kick in a monster RV. You could have hot and cold running women , wam they're all cold eventually.
So amazing! Do you have the design instructions to build the front part for the window ac? Thanks!
That baby Ruth!!!!!! Ha. Oh man. I want to figure this out for mine
I couldn’t resist with the candy bar!
@@CampandCamera too funny

They sell a 4” white vinyl ducting. That’s what I currently use and it’s perfect! Lambro is the brand I use 👍🏼
"Throw something in there"? 🤣
Another great video, Michael!
You should get insulated hose, uninsulated hose will soaking wet from condensation.
I’m gonna see what I can find. I agree that would be the way to go.
Mike, I wouldn't have noticed your ratty t-shirt if you hadn't mentioned it!
Cool video! 👍👍

You should have a 10X10 canopy you don't make cold you remove heat .Use passive tools to prevent loading heat thus less heat to remove .
I like your way of thinking
@@CampandCamera I was trained that when I drove refrigerator truck.
Love your little humidity/temp gauge. Where does one find something like that?
I believe it was an Amazon purchase.
A nice 4 inch isulated jacket around the air intake and outlet will make a world of difference.
Was thinking kind of same thing giant pool noodle
they make 4 inch insulate heat duct hoses, not only is the sewer hose black but its too long and its got too much surface area, think of it like an old radiator, all those cool looking expansion rings are cooling loss surfaces.
Oh I need to do this with my AC I get too much humidity inside. Why the long hoses what if the hose are about 4' long? Thanks for the video
Another great diy video 👍 God bless you
When heating a space, heat down low and reserc up high. When cooling reverse it. Cool up high and reserc low. You need the move the air where you need it. Hot rises and cool drops.
Great logic, thanks!
Somebody send Michael some “clean” green hoses for his A/C

I’m gonna take your tip of elevating the unit and shortening the hoses. The punch tool is frequently used around my shop!
Glenn, I also have an inline duct fan in the return hose now. I have also added a run timer to cycle the unit 8 min on & 2 min off.
I don't remember where I got my hoses, but I am using white.

I just typed “Climateright remote control” in eBay and saw a couple that may work. Not sure though.

Spray paint the hoses white?
The Wallfoam need to be protected against moisture.

Any updates?
I dont think its enough to make the ducting lighter color or reflective, you need in insulate them
Easiest way to shield your sewer hoses would probably be to use flexible metal foil dyer duct over top of it. It would expand and contract with the sewer hose.
Does it use half the power of a 5Kbtu?
I doubt it. The fan is probably the same.
Simple solution for the hose colour would be just spraypaint them a glossywhite. You may have to touch up every once in a while
