- Everyone who knows the Camp EZ teardrop camper knows that I love green. I’m always on the lookout for a new green gadget for the galley or cabin. Well, in this episode we go all out and add green formica to the teardrop galley countertop. If your a DIY teardrop builder or just someone who wants to upgrade a wooden galley countertop, you’ll love this one!
TEARDROP MEETUP
Last year we hosted a gathering called “Camping on a Porch” at the Edgar Evins State Park Campground. Everyone loved the unique campsites created from large wooden decks. This years edition will be the weekend of Halloween. For more details on the gathering, check out the DIY Teardrop Campers Community page on Facebook. Full details are in the events section. Although many DIY teardrop trailers will be in attendance, you don’t have to bring a DIY camper. Factory built squaredrops, cargo conversions, tiny campers, vintage campers, you name it, are welcome. This looks soooo great Michael! I'm sure Joann loves it too! We are a bit homebound now as we are caring for my 92 year old father-in-law who is staying with us after hip repair and rehab. I know someday we'll make it back to Tennessee and meet all the wonderful teardrop owners! Enjoy your meet-up at the end of the month... It will be a great time. Careful if there are wet leaves on the wooden decks - I fell really hard last year right after I mentioned how slippery the deck and wet leaves were. No broken bones, but looking back, it was like a scene from I Love Lucy! LoL

@@CampandCamera Thank you! It's our second time caretaking. It's a lot of work but when all is said and done, we wouldn't want things any other way. ... The trick is to try to take care of ourselves too, right!?! I tease Gerry (my father-in-law) that I'm shopping for a camper that fits the three of us. =)

Counter top looks good! For easier installation, cut laminate slightly oversize and trim after it's adhered with a laminate trimming bit in a router.

I like your roller, I just use a scrap piece of wood and seams to work ok. One thing I would suggest to others is to wait on cutting the sink and holes intell after the countertop is glued and dryer that way you have allot less to try and light up. then just use a router put or the right size drill bits on them. gally looks great with the green! im still trying to figure out what exactly I want to do with mine next spring.

Nice work! I PMF'd all surfaces of my teardrop except for the galley counter front and top. I went with formica on the counter top straight-away since I had some left over from a chuck box project back in the tent camping days. Saw your teaser photo on the DIY group. Final countertop looks nice! If you have to take this out again, maybe consider putting in a channel to the back of the counter for those wires coming through into your electrical box. That way it slides out & no wires to cut! 👍

Edgar Evans was a great place. Camped there at Thanksgiving last year. Would be very cool to go to that! The fam and I will just be getting back from dragging ours out to Montana though.
Camped there a couple of times this year, and I just love the deck parking there. I learned about the campground from Camp and Camera!

You may need to place some soft rubber on the outer edge of the round cover to help prevent the cover from tipping to the side when an object is placed off center on it. Like the addition to your galley - that color works!

I've got a collapsible sink I use work's great
i put a skillet on my countertop & it bubbled it from the heat. It was a plastic sheet so it's not exactly what you put on, but I glued it on same as yours. I'm going to go with small tile on mine because i want to put skillets on the countertop. I'd try it on a sample piece b4 1st. I can't believe it's been 3 years since your build.

Hey there! Yep, we did a day in Myrtle back in April. We really just used it as a base camp. We went to Brookgreen Gardens, then up to Oak Island. It was a nice trip.

Years ago, when installing indoor/outdoor carpet in a boat, my wife caught me using her wooden rolling pin from the kitchen to smooth-out the glue under the carpet. She asked if that was the one from the kitchen, and I promptly replied, "Nope, it's one just like it". 🤪
