If you do come to these spots, respect the area and your fellow surfer. Peace and love. Update! I accidentally called the beach Seacliff when in fact it is Seabright. Also this is West to East. The memorial at the Lane consists of friends and family that surfed there, ultimately passing away. They almost all died out of the water. A ton of people think all those people died surfing the Lane. To clarify, no. Enjoyed the video. Too bad you didn't start at Natural Bridges. Stockton Ave is one of our favorite breaks also. Take Care, JC

    I learned to surf at 38th & The Hook late 70's. On many a great surf day Jack O'Neal would be surfing the hook and sometimes we shared a wave. Jack O'Neal was a really a cool man and shared his surfing knowledge. There's always going to be a wannabe kahuna either the Hook or 38th, but they are easily ignored.

    Great overview. Thanks. Considering a mid to late October trip, either to SC or down south to Malibu and San Clemente. I’m probably a low intermediate longboarder. How would SC be that time of year for someone like me in terms of consistency and number of options? Would love your thoughts. Thanks again! Johnny

    • @ChooseAdventureCaliforniaStyle
      @ChooseAdventureCaliforniaStyle  Год назад +1

      Hey Johnny! Thank you. That's a great time of year to surf. I personally like SC the best. Down south is super fun and I go a few times a year. My favorite spots down south is Doheny, swamis, and of course surf rider Beach (malibu). SC has the most amount of surfing options in such a small area, that is consistently good. The options are vast. From Cowells; one of the best places to learn how to surf to Steamer Lane and everything in between. Going early is your best bet, later in the day it can get busy. My favorite spots in SC and would be great for you is 38ths or now called Jack's (located in front of the green house which was Jack's). Capitola, privates... either way, SC or down south you'll have a blast! Hope you have a great trip!

    Choose Adventure California Style, great vid and awesome presentation, however, the music was a bit loud for me, and with your laid back voice, was hard to hear what u were saying. I was born and raised in Palo Alto, and we used to go over to San Gregorio beach all the time. Sadly, I never got to surf, but I made up for that when I moved to Hawaii. Thanks again for the great video. PS, I know what u mean about grumpy locals. I've had a few run-ins with some local Maui boys. I was always outnumbered, so I usually just tried to fade back into the scenery. Hahaha. :)

    • @ChooseAdventureCaliforniaStyle
      @ChooseAdventureCaliforniaStyle  3 года назад +3

      Privates is located along East Cliff Dr road. This is leaving the Hook and heading towards Capitola. There is a gate with a few parking spots. You used to have to buy a key however now the gate Is supposed to be always unlocked; as all beaches should be public.

      Take a look at the crowd in this video at Jacks and 1st peak. It's flat with 50 people out. The local shortboarders at The Hook are making a "last stand" at this one break. Localism sucks but I understand the desperation mentality.
