Interesting that you have a lot of oil going into the catch can. Some will drain it back into the block but filter recommended of course as it's "dirty oil".
Yeah if you saw what I drained out of there you’d agree that shouldn’t be reintroduced haha. Probably loose ring gap, or out of round cylinders causing it, or no baffle in the valve cover. But hasn’t caused any issues.
looking at the engine bay you have quite a lot of space where the intake filter is... maybe a horizontally placed inter cooler with some ducting to let cold air go through it ? You would cut out a LOT of piping - look at subarus for reference
Good idea, I'm planning on redoing the intercooler piping this winter actually. That room over there would be nice to build a sealed intake box. Always wanted to do that.

Been watching a ton of your videos, which are super helpful for me. I'm building an F22a6 to go into my 93 SE coupe and will be using my stock pistons and rods with new main and rod bearings, cylinder hone, BS delete, H23 PCBX plenum and TB, and a GT3076 turbo. How has your engine held up so far with the stock rods and pistons? Planning to go a max of 10psi to keep the engine as safe and healthy for as long as possible. What clutch did you use? Thanks for your time.
I used an eBay xtd stage 2 I believe. It’s been holding up surprisingly well. Engine on these are bulletproof at 10 psi I’m convinced. I think this year I might actually turn up the boost.
@@ThatAccordGuy just a stage 2 an and XTD? Now that's surprising. Good to hear you've had good results with it though, as I've heard some pretty bad things about that brand of clutch. And, that'll be sweet! If I get a wild hair I might go up to 12psi but i really just want to keep the engine as healthy as possible.
Yeah no need to push the limits right away. I started on 5 and slowly went up as I learned to tune it. I can’t believe the clutch has held in there that long for the money I’d do it again. I don’t launch it or beat it up too bad but I definitely slip it.
In a few months I might be able to afford a turbo kit for my car. I plan to boost the engine stock, and just be conservative with the pressure. It has 4,000 miles on the new clutch, oil pump, belts, water pump gasket. Would it be safe to boost as is and keep the pressure at 5 pounds or less?
I was told by a machine shop that the weak of the rods is the bolts most of the times you should try some ARP High Performance Series Connecting Rod Bolt Kit I never see anyone talking about this, by the way the guy that told about this he built alot of HONDA'S
If I every build another stock motor, I'll definitely go that route. If I tear this engine open I'm definitely going to build it with new rods and pistons and absolutely use the arp rod bolts. Would have been a good thing to try on this stock motor tho! Thanks for the info man
I have a 97 accord f22b1 bone stock. Runs a little rough, vtec doesn’t activate and sounds like the lifters are bad but I’m not a expert. Should I do a complete rebuild from crank to cam or slap a H22 in it? Can’t make up my mind 🤔🤷♂️
Can you describe the list of things you used to build the turbo? I have an accord f23a and I would love to do the same on it and keep it as original as yours, I would appreciate it
I've got a video on the whole parts list if you check out my channel. Most things will be the same for that engine. I talk about how much it cost too. Good luck!
I've got a sohc VTEC accord us wagon 1995 could I get away with turbocharging the engine without opening the engine up? Or recipe for disaster, I can imagine thicker head gasket would probly be mandatory but was thinking quick road tune on like 5psi
You could totally run 5psi without opening it up. Just doing head studs one at a time you could probably let her rip on 10 easy. As long as the rings aren't too tight. How many miles?
I painted the top arches. Mine had a dent in it on the driver's side so I searched the junkyard for a while to get one and somehow got it off in one piece haha. Had to go back several times for clips. The lowers I purchased some cheap reproduction ones on eBay that turned out not so bad. They're not like oem fitment but they'll do
Will a jdm f22b dohc from a prelude si bolt straight up to a cd5 and also does the cd5 have to manual or auto because I have a prelude with a f22 dohc in it but I want to swap it to an accord because the prelude has a bad title help
Not sure on that but I assume it would bolt right up. Trans probably would too but I'm not sure on that, I'm sure there's people out there with that info. I don't have it tho sorry bud
hey man I love your build I wish I could do this to my car but I don't want to ruin its reliability it's the V6 ex model curiosity what would you do with that one and it's automatic I would like to convert it
1998 is going to be all f23 engines. There's different variants. F23 a1 and f23 a4 which is a ulev version. K series wasn't in accords until way later on. You have to check the engine code on the motor to know for sure
Hide your tag next time. Wouldn't take shit but the right person to look it up & find out where you live. Idk, I wouldn't want people knowing my address. Awesome video though. Love my hondas. 👊❤
Yeah stock for now. I've got an f23a1 intake manifold sitting in my garage. Trying to throw it on this winter hopefully. Supposedly flow better. But really doesn't matter much with a turbo. Boost is boost lol
@@ThatAccordGuy hell yea it breaths well for natural aspiration, i just changed all thr ball joints in the front, now ima work on headers and a complete exhaust system, hope to make a few more ponies
Hi i from thailand i use cd 5 and it is f23a na haha more than you 100cc .i have qution how much max rpm? you have my car is stock only 6000 rpm it like need more rpm to have vtec sound.
These engines don't like to rev too high since the crank shaft is only supplied with oil from one side is what I've heard. But if you throw some valve springs in it you could probably take it to 7000rpm. 8000 seems unsafe but these cars also don't make too much power there with the single overhead cam.

@@ThatAccordGuy well, that's awesome! Hey, would you mind telling me your exhaust setup? Pipe size, resonators and muffler?
Exhaust is literally a 3” straight pipe off the turbo to the dual tips. Nothing else haha
You think this could also be possible with the 1997 CL with the 2.2?
Yep I'm sure it can be done
I also have a 1997 Acura cl 2.2 5 speed what kit would I need to turbo it.
I'd piece together your own kit like I did
In a few months I might be able to afford a turbo kit for my car. I plan to boost the engine stock, and just be conservative with the pressure. It has 4,000 miles on the new clutch, oil pump, belts, water pump gasket. Would it be safe to boost as is and keep the pressure at 5 pounds or less?
You'll need a tune no matter what but 5 psi is crazy safe for these cars
@@ThatAccordGuy Thank goodness. What i would like to do is go to my local tuner to get it tuned there
Yeah absolutely man. First find out what engine management system they're familiar with them you'll know which direction to head.
@@ThatAccordGuy Nice! They told me that they have hondata, so that should work very well
There you go, you know where you're at for tuning. That's the hardest part!
I was told by a machine shop that the weak of the rods is the bolts most of the times you should try some ARP High Performance Series Connecting Rod Bolt Kit
I never see anyone talking about this, by the way the guy that told about this he built alot of HONDA'S
If I every build another stock motor, I'll definitely go that route. If I tear this engine open I'm definitely going to build it with new rods and pistons and absolutely use the arp rod bolts. Would have been a good thing to try on this stock motor tho! Thanks for the info man
What temperature do u run
I have a 97 accord f22b1 bone stock. Runs a little rough, vtec doesn’t activate and sounds like the lifters are bad but I’m not a expert. Should I do a complete rebuild from crank to cam or slap a H22 in it? Can’t make up my mind 🤔🤷♂️
I’d try to figure out the issue before doing a full rebuild. Have you checked valve lash? What kind of oil pressure do you have?
Oh yeah, this is sick :)
215 50 17s give you a lil more clearance. Thats the size i run on my 96 im a lil lower than you. But the extra side wall helps
Thanks for the advice man. I'll keep an eye out for a set in the meantime. Until I'm able to get my ideal wheels going on.
There’s a video fro PFI speed that a guy has the same “engine” F22 on boost with 1060 hp
Yeah man that engine is definitely beefed up and has rods and pistons but these motors are capable! People shouldn't count the single cam out
Very nice video
Appreciate it!
The ad that played was a RuckaRuckaAli video
Ep3/RSX steering wheel fits the accord it’ll give it a sportier look 👀
I'll keep an eye out for one man thanks 👍
Can you put the name of everything you put into the engine ?
Can you describe the list of things you used to build the turbo? I have an accord f23a and I would love to do the same on it and keep it as original as yours, I would appreciate it
I've got a video on the whole parts list if you check out my channel. Most things will be the same for that engine. I talk about how much it cost too. Good luck!
@@ThatAccordGuy thanks i appreciate the help
I've got a sohc VTEC accord us wagon 1995 could I get away with turbocharging the engine without opening the engine up? Or recipe for disaster, I can imagine thicker head gasket would probly be mandatory but was thinking quick road tune on like 5psi
You could totally run 5psi without opening it up. Just doing head studs one at a time you could probably let her rip on 10 easy. As long as the rings aren't too tight. How many miles?
How do you pass the vtech for smog? Swapped a 94 accord with F 22vtech needs ECU still.
Luckily I don’t have to worry about that. I’m exempt where I live because of how old the car is. You’ll probably have to find an ecu from a vtec motor
my CD5 has really nasty window trim how did you get yours so clean??
I painted the top arches. Mine had a dent in it on the driver's side so I searched the junkyard for a while to get one and somehow got it off in one piece haha. Had to go back several times for clips. The lowers I purchased some cheap reproduction ones on eBay that turned out not so bad. They're not like oem fitment but they'll do
How reliable has it been? I'm thinking of turning my boost up to 9-10psi and have my tuner install arp head studs and new head gasket
Haven’t had an issue yet with the engine. I think they’re pretty safe on 10 psi
@@ThatAccordGuy That's great to hear!
Sickk body kit were can i get thoes
i got a 94 accord with the f22b2 and i plan on boosting it, any tips or things i should look out for?
Got a bunch of videos on my process it you're interested. Should be the same exact build except you're obd1 already
Juss Got My 95 back But What Kind Of Turbo Kit And Intercooler do i Need to be Running on A Stock F22?
I've got a video detailing the whole turbo setup. I made my own kit piecing together a bunch of parts. Gives a basic idea
I turned one of these into a truck the other day and it was stick also 👀😂
LMAO accord truck sounds like a great idea
Will a jdm f22b dohc from a prelude si bolt straight up to a cd5 and also does the cd5 have to manual or auto because I have a prelude with a f22 dohc in it but I want to swap it to an accord because the prelude has a bad title help
Not sure on that but I assume it would bolt right up. Trans probably would too but I'm not sure on that, I'm sure there's people out there with that info. I don't have it tho sorry bud
hey man I love your build I wish I could do this to my car but I don't want to ruin its reliability it's the V6 ex model curiosity what would you do with that one and it's automatic I would like to convert it
Dude if you manual swapped it, threw a set of headers and a tune on that thing. It'd be a ripper! I think you'd be surprised how fun it could be
@@ThatAccordGuy think it's pretty fun now but my transmission slipping I'm just going to wait till that goes out then I'm just swap it
Yeah I hear that. That will make it last forever
Got a couple questions for you i Have a 97 accord swapped from a f22b2 to a b1 vtec, need some help on a couple things let me know if your down
Sure I can help if you still need it. My Instagram is a better way to ask me questions. I'm more likely to respond quickly
@@ThatAccordGuy just sent you a message bro
The shifter and boot loll so pen15
How'd u make the fiberglass strong ?
Fiberglass resin soaked into fiberglass matt to strengthen. Few layers of that.
Are all accords either f22 or a f23a and are k24 used on Honda Accord 1998
1998 is going to be all f23 engines. There's different variants. F23 a1 and f23 a4 which is a ulev version. K series wasn't in accords until way later on. You have to check the engine code on the motor to know for sure
Hide your tag next time. Wouldn't take shit but the right person to look it up & find out where you live. Idk, I wouldn't want people knowing my address. Awesome video though. Love my hondas. 👊❤
i have an 95 accord but i don’t know where to get parts to make it faster
Mostly eBay for me lol. Depends on your goals
What intake do you use? Stock?
Yeah stock for now. I've got an f23a1 intake manifold sitting in my garage. Trying to throw it on this winter hopefully. Supposedly flow better. But really doesn't matter much with a turbo. Boost is boost lol
What exhaust system do you have
3" straight pipe
I have a 96 prelude, same car pretty much. Mine just say f22a
Nice man. Those motors are said to flow even better than the f22b. I've got an intake manifold from one I want to swap on.
@@ThatAccordGuy hell yea it breaths well for natural aspiration, i just changed all thr ball joints in the front, now ima work on headers and a complete exhaust system, hope to make a few more ponies
Yeah headers and an exhaust are good for a few horses especially with a tune!
You gonna k swap that thing?
Hi i from thailand i use cd 5 and it is f23a na haha more than you 100cc .i have qution how much max rpm? you have my car is stock only 6000 rpm it like need more rpm to have vtec sound.
These engines don't like to rev too high since the crank shaft is only supplied with oil from one side is what I've heard. But if you throw some valve springs in it you could probably take it to 7000rpm. 8000 seems unsafe but these cars also don't make too much power there with the single overhead cam.
@@ThatAccordGuy thanks ill swap to k24 lmaoo
What is your paint color code or number
It's k11 smoke metallic. Nissan altima SER color
Can this turbo work on the Honda Torneo
Yeah turbos are pretty universal
@@ThatAccordGuy thanks bro am gonna build a 98 Honda torneo
Good luck dude have fun!
Are you still running your A/C?
Nope ac is deleted. Could have probably been kept with more effort but was easier to get rid of it for me.
I got 95 f2b22 overheats when I abuse it
So I straight wired the fans hopefully 😂I don't blow up
