XBOX Repair

- In this video I am restoring an original Xbox from 2005. The Xbox is in working condition but the disc drive won't open. Repairing the stuck disc drive was easy but the Xbox came with a lot of surprises, both good and bad.
It was hard modded with a SmartXX LT OPX chip which made it possible to install Xbox Media Center on the console, it is the predecessor to what we today call Kodi.
Thanks for watching! Enjoy!

Epic!!!!!!! I enjoyed this video very much, thank you Restored! Like a first seat in X-Box factory. It was nice to see all parts and the way how you solved problems along the way, you did an amazing work. Well done! Enjoy playing 😆👍
I'm glad you enjoyed the video😁 Thanks for watching 👌
@@RestoredChannel 😉
Bought one for 25 euro. Found out later it is a limited edition crystal xbox. Modded it some time later and now has a 2tb hdd with hunderds of games on it ;)
Awesome video, one of your best I think. Did not think I just watched 27mins, thought it was 20min.
So many great shots and edits, too many to mention (envious).
Man I burst out laughing at the front panel cracking in half 🤣
That was soo brittle!
Thanks mate! I'm glad you enjoyed it😁🙏 Yes everything was snapping and breaking. Never seen anything like it before😶 Thanks for watching 🍻
This was an awesome video! At first, when you broke the fan clip, I was like "c'mon man! You have to be more careful!" But then everything else started breaking and I was like "Okay..." And then the faceplate broke and that was when I knew it wasn't your fault. By the way, it was really cool that you were able to take a v1.4 case and make it work for your version. Nice work! 👍
I have never seen anything as brittle as that case🤣 Awesome comment and thanks for watching 👊😁
Now that's what I call restoration 🔨 👍
Glad you liked it😁👍
Excellent video. The care and attention to detail 👌 ✨️. Loved seeing this returned to like new condition. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching mate!
This was a very useful and well made video. It made for an excellent reference during my process of restoration. Thank you.
Glad to hear it. Thanks for watching!

Thank you my friend, it means a lot!

Restored Channel: Hold my beer
Good SAVE☺☺☺
Thanks man
Great video man. I enjoy watching stuff like this. Can I ask where you bought the tape for the feet and the size?
Thanks mate! Google "taperunner" 👍
I have worked on several Original Xboxes and every once in a while I will get one where the plastic is very brittle like this. From what I recall it has been v1.6 boxes every time.
Thanks for sharing. I wonder how these were stored? Or maybe it's a bad batch which they fixed later on.. Thanks for watching!
I opened one to do a recap (it was suddenly dead on the button), nothing broke but got scared off from trying to get the faceplate. No pre-snapped bits either.
Its a v1.6 Crystal btw.
Excellent job. Hugs from Brazil.
Thanks for watching🙏
Awesome Restoration :)
Your video is very satisfying! 🤩
What is your camera and lens?
Thanks man! I record with my phone, Galaxy s20. Thanks for watching 🙏
@@RestoredChannel amazing, picture quality is really impressive 👏
I've never seen that ever happen to an Xbox. Where was it from? Has to be from somewhere super hot and dry to mess up the plastic that much. Nice restoration. Thank you for preserving another Xbox. My favorite console. 😁
Hi great video. What type of grease did you use for the dvd tray.
Silicone grease, thanks for watching!
Ty I am sorry what also lubricant did you use to lubricate parts?
What glue did you use to glue the rubber and stickers where the screws went?
Search for taperunner👍
What brand silicone grease did you use? Thank you.
Looking great
Thanks!
Beautiful video. Almost like an ASMR in some parts. When the brittle plastic kept snapping, it made me feel the opposite, like intense frustration ha ha. Wonderful camera angles too. Thank you for making it!
Quick question: what kind of “vinyl spray” (cleaner?) and what type of adhesive did you use for the feet / labels?
Many thanks
Thanks mate, I really appreciate it 🙏 For the plastic I used Armor All Protectant and Taperunner for the feet 👍
@@RestoredChannel 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Can you provide me with a link to the adhesive rollers you used to glue down the rubber feet? It would be very helpful. Thanks so much!

Hi what brand of silicone did you use. I am trying to fix my dvd drive it makes a loud scraping noise: ty
You can actually toss the fan units in a dishwasher and they still work fine.
To all you restoration junkies out there... When you clean fans, never blow air into them and allow them to spin up. This can ruin them. Hold the fan blades still with your finger and then blow air into them, changing the blade position a few times. Then use cotton swabs and IPA to clean the hard dirt off.
You're absolutely right. I just had to play with it😁 thanks for watching!
16:17 uuuuuh dentist time 😬
A light polish? I wish someone gave my car "a light polish" 😂
🤣🤣me too. Thanks for watching 👍
Restoration? This was a super clean xbox to start I've seen far worse
As in Dantes Inferno there are circles in hell and this might have been circle 5 because of the brittle shell😉 thanks for watching and leaving a comment mate👊
7th video I saw and no one mentions what kind of screwdriver and size needed?
T20 torx for the shell👍
What adhesive did you use for the feet?
I used taperunner. Thanks for watching!
What possessed you to use that much thermal paste on the gpu?
The voices in my head 😉
great video, does anyone know how to fix an og xbox with flashing green and red lights?
For fault codes see: consolemods.org/wiki/Xbox:Error_Codes#LED_Error_Codes
@@RestoredChannel Thank you
😉 i like this short video 👍
Glad to hear 😋
Wow what could possibly have happened to the plastic in the first case?
Do you do any work for anybody that needs their consoles clean and restored??? I could defenetly pay for someone to fully restore and refurbished my console into brand new
At this point, I don't do comissions. Thanks for watching mate 🙏
lets play!

you can use Coca Cola as well to remove rust :P
👍👏👏👏
🙏😁
When dissasembly in the past the xbox must have not been handled with care as the plastic should NOT be that brittle i have a 2002 2003 and a 2004 xbox they are no where near that brittle
I got one from a thrift shop, broke it all down, the rf shield was nasty. I sanded it and spray painted with automotive accessory paint. Purchased a motherboard and matching drive for $30 and have a great system now.
Glad you made it work. Great effort👍thanks for watching!
Neat video 👏🏼👏🏼
