  • In this video, I'm going to repair an original Xbox that came out November of 2001, costing around £299
I got the Xbox from ebay as spares or repairs the problem with it is that it does not power on because of the capacitor for the time and date had a bit of corrosion around the capacitor that caused the problem with it bot work the reason I didn't replace the capacitor it because they are known for going it just means the time and date will keep coming up on start up
I've had some messages asking me why don't l replace the missing capacitors I'm sure there's no missing capacitors just think it's a different model when l was doing my research there are different motherboard
    Tools used
    Screw driver set
    Isopropanol alcohol 99.9%
    Multimeter
    Pen detector
    Flux
    Heat gun
    Air blower
    Thermal compound ( MX-4 recommend )
Don't forget to subscribe. It will help me out a lot

Just did all of this and softmodded with a 1TB SSD. BUT, I recapped the whole MOBO and the Clock Cap. Curious why you didn't add the Clock Cap back? Also, the missing caps? I'm not sure why on that front? It wasn't opened previously.
Lastly, you had no corroded traces for the power button and eject? I am happy for you if that is the case. I had to re-run 3 wires because of ruined traces.
To sum it up, you only cleaned it and it worked again? Take only as a good thing. I am just shocked! Congrats.

Hello there, and thank you for watching. The main problem with it was the clock capacitor, which leaked on the board, causing the problem. The reason I didn't replace it is because it's a common problem, and all I've got to do on start-up is just skip the time and date
I'm not sure that it's missing caps. I think it might be because it's a different model, and it's never been opened before to go missing and thank you again for watching really much appreciated 😃

Should have replaced the 3 caps near the CPU, at least 1 was starting to bulge and even if not, Nichicon HM's in XBOX's were faulty and prone to early failure.

I could have done, but I chose not to as I'm happy with it. If I'm honest 😌 if you wanted to replace it, you can thank you for watching 😃

It is only to keep time when not in use for time specific games. Not many games on this console need time keeping.
