      Lovely Video clip! Apologies for the intrusion, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you thought about - Genubrey Mispriced Infiltration (do a search on google)? It is a great exclusive guide for learning the simple trick to reduce your blood pressure without the normal expense. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my friend after a lifetime of fighting got cool results with it.

    That was ok. But there's a few key things medical and pharmaceutical students should know for patient safety.
    Like ACEi and AT2 blockers shouldn't be combined.
    Diuretics are also not 1st line due to kidney damage risk and postural hypotension.
    ACEi have similar yet lower risks, but shouldn't ever be used in bilateral renal stenosis.
    Those basics usually pop up in exams.

      yes, not sure why Alpha blockers were left out either.

    • @dilettanter
      @dilettanter 2 года назад

      @@Saffron-sugar that’s true… From my notes apparently for African-Americans ace in Hibbett her‘s and beta blockers don’t work as well as expected or hoped for, and alpha one blockers can be used instead…But it also says in my notes that alpha one blockers are not that effective at lowering blood pressure, so normally for African-Americans there’s some sort of ace inhibitor or such to relax the blood vessels combined with the diuretic

    I was told Calcium channel blockers would effect the HR....and minimally also does some coronary vasodilatation. Also with ARBs, it only effects SVR.

    Be very careful taking the thiazide diuretics. These have a well known(although not mentioned by my doctor-I had to find it out myself) side effect of increasing the risk of skin cancer, especially squamous cell skin cancer. One study I read indicated that the risk is 30% higher(10% increase for basil cell and melanoma). Not knowing the risk, I took a thiazide diuretic and after about 1 year later starting suffering squamous cell skin cancers every 6 months or so. I had never had these before and my siblings do not have them. Even after I got off of the drug, I am still seeing these. I recommend that you do not take these unless absolutely necessary.

    Thank you. What about Alpha Blockers (Doxazosin, Prazosin ,Terazosin). I know they’re usually used in combination with a beta blocker or diuretic, but they should probably be on this list I believe?

    • @Saffron-sugar
      @Saffron-sugar 2 года назад

      also good to bring up all 3 categories of diuretics, because so many are on Loop diuretics. Thiazides are not the most popular

      You should see a doctor. Examination and tests will be carried out as necessary and follow up is needed.

      Have you done periodic bp accessment & ruled out hypertension ?
      Please do initiate hypertensive drugs under a physician's guidance only. Management may differ in different countries, but at my place we do refer for periodic blood pressure monitoring for few days, followed by *history taking*, followed by some blood tests 'required'. Then only we put a patient on any particular type of anti-HTN drug. At 27, many people can tackle it with few lifestyle changes, if it's not too high & unless there's some associated co-morbidity.
      Best wishes
