Great video demo. One correction. It doesn't send a signal to a satellite. GPS satellites are constantly sending out a radio signal. The delay you are getting is the GPS RECEIVER in the trolling motor control locking onto the satellites and calibrating. It also likely gets a DGPS signal if your accuracy is to 1 foot. So to be clear the trolling motor does NOT send signals to satellites in space.
Nice video of the foot pedal and "issues." I highly recommend an on/off switch from the battery to the troller as the button provides a false sense of security in protecting the head unit. Also I'm a big believer in being able to pull off the motor to both store and then not have on when trailering.
Very useful video EXCEPT : I wish you had the camera focused on the foot pedal when you were touching it... I'm V I S U A L and really need to see the buttons that are being pressed. I wanted to see the lights on the MODE and the ones on the left, so I could remember them on my Ulterra. I had an ISSUE with my battery dying on my ( Ipilot remote ) and couldn't stow the motor. If I had the foot control installed I would have a SECOND option. So NOW I'm bringing my foot control along next outing. Thanks Again.
I think it would be too large to fit in a recessed pan. Also, there are several features on the foot pedal that you would not be able to click with your foot if it is recessed.
Wow I wish I had fishing in my high school! I actually went to Edgewood in Ohio but any ways I just bought my the terrova I pilot and when I push the anchor button it says SL TMP on my remote. It will stay in spot lock for maybe 5 minutes then kicks out. Also I cant find the calibration setting anywhere on my remote. I thought I paired my GPS puck but maybe I didnt do it right. If not could that cause these problems? Thanks
The spot lock is great for deeper water. It actually works best when the wind is blowing - when the wind is a whisper the spot lock struggles. The Talon or Power Pole is used in water less than 10 feet deep. If you want to flip to a laydown for instance.
lol it's not "sending a beam to a satellite" it's receiving signals from multiple satellites constantly, and uses a minimum of 3 satellites pinging distances to determine it's own location on the globe. also, in case you think your phone "goes to space and back" it doesnt, they use local tower signals unless you're using a satellite specific phone, which are incredibly expensive and used mostly by military, government, and backcountry adventurers.
Wife here,( I did this)accidentally deployed while still strapped down. Status is flashing red. Won’t go up or down. Tried the off, on, hit power switch three times... any other ideas?
Here is a link to another video showing how it should sound, if you registered it you should have a 2 year warranty, I would have it looked at. ruclips.net/video/Avu12_XQdGY/видео.html
Figured out the cause of that sound. Your belt is not running within the guides. I just had my trolling motor require some service today and I asked him about yours and said that within the motor unit, it has a guide that keeps the belt in place, if it continues to make that sound, take it in for service work, as the guides could cut the belt. I would suggest taking it in anyways to have them double check and show them the video of what it is doing. Also, on the Ulterra they have an upgraded motor unit with new seals that will stop water from getting inside of the unit, they may change that out for you too for free, if you are still under warranty. If you registered your motor, you will have a 2 year warranty.
Next year they are coming out with "spot pizza" ! You hit spot lock, and then hit it again....and a pizza restaurant boat senses your position and delivers a nice pizza for you. maybe a beer as well. Revolutionary !
Excellent, just what I was looking for.
Great to hear!

Will that fit in a recessed foot pedal pan, it looks rather big width wise.

Mine is in a recessed pan
Can you use the fob/remote or is this strictly foot pedal only?
It came with a remote but I never use it. I know many people swear by the remote but I prefer to have both hands free.

You should call Minn Kota's customer service.
With spot lock, do you need talons/power poles?

@@highschoolfishingcentral7753 Thank you very much for your reply !

Ha, thanks for the clarification.

Go to Minn Kota Website and search. I know there is a way to reset the Ulterra.
How to you set depth when deploying in shallow water? So you don’t hit bottom!
You can hit any of the 3 buttons at the "heel" part of the foot pedal to stop it from deploying any farther.
I dont recall mine being so loud on the stow, when your deploys, that is how it is supposed to sound. Something isnt right.
Hmm, I have never heard another one so I have nothing to compare it to. LOL

It doesn't seem to be making that noise for me anymore, I wonder if it was just a little misaligned when I shot this video?

That wind is brutal on the audio
Sorry about that. I actually purchased a nice microphone shortly after making that video.
Doesn’t sound right. When it was stowing sounded kinda funky
stopped watching as soon as I started...wind noise
Video very helpful thanks . I put the same motor on my old 690 Ranger. Nice job on the video .👍
