  • JURA 18 YEAR OLD
    A RICHLY FRUITY AND FULL-BODIED SINGLE MALT WHISKY FINISHED IN FRENCH RED WINE CASKS THAT LINGERS ON AND ON
    On Jura, our tiny island community finds time stretched by the changing seasons and tempered by the unique microclimate. Each passing year brings its own riches.
    Matured for eighteen long years in American White Oak ex bourbon barrels, this whisky is then beautifully enriched by superior Premier Grand Cru Classé Bordeaux red wine barriques from the South of France. The result is an incredibly rich and fruity whisky, with flavours of cooked raspberries, warm spice, rich caramel and crème anglaise.

    Good whisky, great price, but is the 12 PX cask better? Let me know what you think

      I’d try the Offerman 3 if you can find it! Delicious and quite sweet! I love the price you can get Jura for - esp the 18! That’s very good Gert! It’s definitely worth grabbing! Cheers!

    Hi Gert! There is definitely colour added to the Jura 18. I just Googled to find out. I don’t mind the Jura 18. It’s the only Jura I have tried. I admit I miss the peat but it was okay. Not exceptional or complex for an 18 year old scotch. It gets pricey for the 18 where I am so I won’t get another bottle when my husband and I finish this expression but I am glad we could try it out and get a sense of what Jura scotch is like! That’s always fascinating! I lived a Lagavulin finished in a red wine cask (Offerman edition number 3) but it’s hit and miss for me as to whether I will enjoy this kind of finishing. I think I prefer it when it’s done with a peated scotch. I really enjoyed this video! Thanks so much!! Cheers!

      Thanks Christine. It’s very drinkable and I think €85 here and I saw it for £75 in the uk. Don’t actually mind the colouring. Never tried the Offerman.

    I only have 2 Juras: the pre-2018 Superstition, which is medium peated (well, it's a combination of unpeated and heavily peated...) and a 19-year-old single cask (sherry butt) that was sold for a Scottish charity, which is nicer than your average Jura (which has a reputation as a bit of a 'supermarket whisky').

      This one has a hint of smoke. Apparently. Did not get any of that.

      @@WhiskyLoversSociety I often find that people who mention smoke in tasting notes don't really know what they are talking about... (although, as an ex-smoker, I sometimes detect notes I relate to particular tobaccos - I once had to explain why Deanston Decennary reminded me of Sullivan Powell No.1 Turkish!).

    P.S. I found no viscosity at all. I like the dryness after a sip and the oak and cocoa and fruits. Bitter and dry are amazing. I think too sweet can be a turn off for me. Ardbeg sherry bombs and other sherried scotches don’t bother me - love them - but other scotch whiskies with a lot of sweetness tend to stay full on our bar. I think a lot of people know about Jura but I don’t hear raves about it too often.

      Oily in the glass and dry on the palate. Definitely. You would not like the PX 12. It’s super sweet. Just ordered a Ardbeg Heavy Vapours.

    Price in Sweden 62 €
    I do not try it yet,
    Is it a good choice?

    • @WhiskyLoversSociety
      @WhiskyLoversSociety  5 месяцев назад +1

      Depends on what type of whisky you like. At €62 it is well worth the price if you like a sweeter type of whisky. I would pay that.
