Historically, not all people have the same luck fitting new speakers in their 944. This set worked for me. Good luck.

Glad you got them to fitted without issue! I installed the Kicker DSC460 in mine (appears to be the same dimensions). The grill on the ‘88 isn’t flush like the earlier ones on yours and it snaps into place over a plastic tray/bracket that holds the speaker in place. I did have to grind out about 1/8” of plastic on the sides of that tray because the metal speaker housing was too wide. The details from the seller I used said direct fit for all 944, but not sure he accounted for ‘88 and beyond, which I guess there aren’t nearly as many based on production numbers. The differences year-over-year are never ending. 😂

I can't get those speakers to sit flush in my 1983 944. The magnet hits the channel running in the door. Now the door panel is not sitting flush, and the speaker covers don't sit right. Are there slimmer speakers? Less thickness on the magnet ?

Hmmm. If they’re the same speakers then I would imagine it is a difference in model years, as you have an early model and I have a later model. There are too many small differences to keep track of. I expected to have to do some cutting but these dropped right in for me

@@larryburd6206 seems about right by all the research I did. Some people don’t have any problems fitting new speakers and some people have to hack up their doors. Guess I was a lucky one.

​@tims_4x4_garage he means demo-ing the speakers, playing a couple tracks through them and recording it. Of course youtube and compression won't capture how it sounds, but it's still valuable for getting the gist of it

@@icarusix8750 you’re right. cell phone video wouldn’t capture the true sound, not even close. Also, they’re about the only speaker that will fit so you get what you get. They’re decent speakers.
