The show ends the same way it does in the novel. Philip K. Dick always had a way with ending a book. It was his writing style and I feel like the show emulated it well although many people who aren't into his book may not understand.
The series was great in the beginning and in concept, but at around season 3 it began to go downhill, they begin concentrating more on the alternate reality concept and away from more country/military conflict that I would have expected from a Nazi and Japanese alternative reality, and then the series reached rock bottom when they had to abruptly end the series, concluding on a unsatisfactory ending and leaving many questions. I really wished they kept the sci fi stuff to the side and concentrated more on the conflicts within the GNR and JPS, there was so much wasted opportunity with this series.
I thought the story wrapped up pretty well. John Smith died, and his associates decided to renounce Natzisim, thusly calling off the bombing that was supposed to happen on San Fran, that was left to the Americans, by the surrendering Japanese. The most terrifying thing about this show is this could’ve easily happened. If all our naval ships were at Pearl Harbor that day America would’ve lost the war before they even got involved in the war. And if Hitler hadn’t of invaded Russia Germany would still be ruling Europe and parts of Africa giving Hitlers scientists plenty of time to figure out the atomic bombs and nuke the US and other enemies.
Silly silly silly. The destroyed fleet at Pearl Harbor was quickly replaced while quite a few ships were raised and repaired. Plus the USA produced many more as its war industry jumped into high gear. Pearl Harbor only gave the Japanese a few months of free play but everybody knew the USA would be back with many more ships, men, fighters, bombers, etc. etc. Both Japan and Germany weren't fit to fight wars in the major league, which is why they had to deliver a knock out blow to their greatest enemies, capturing more territory and raw materials so they could prepare for the second round. The only way Germany could have won World War II is if Hitler hadn't come to power. Because Hitler's main goal was to invade Russia and create a Great German Empire spanning from Paris to Moscow. Also, he shouldn't have wasted enormous resources on building his pocket battleships like the Graf Spee, Bismarck and Tirpitz, etc. If Germany had instead focused on producing many more U-boats, they would have strangled Great Britain, forcing the British to surrender before the USA could even enter the war on their side.

Ye i know a lot of people didn't like the whole mixing of alternate realities, people cbeing able to travel between and such, but personally it really enticed me, because i'm a total sucker for sci fi, so seeing a show so realistic include some sci fi elements really drew me in a lot. The whole concept of Nazis winning the war and how the world was different is intriguing by itself, but the alternate realities was like icing on a cake.

What show is this?
@@mtrich8113 Man in the high castle
I enjoyed the production elements aswell.
Ye????? Kanye?????
I LOVE the one-off sudden side comments, they’re so funny
One of the best shows I've ever watched in my life. I literally binged watched the hell outta this
I really enjoyed the alternate history aspect of this show. I was interested to see how the resistance fights against the nazis and all the differences and similarities between the show timeline and our timeline. John Smith I especially found to be an interesting character. I was ok with a bit of alternate dimension shenanigans, but they just kept getting dumber and dumber and it got to a point where I didn’t even bother watching all of season 4.
Season 4 wasn't worth it. Never liked Julliana crane since she had an ego got people unnecessarily killed the relationship with joe could've been a lot more but they decided to take him out of the series. And the ending was totally disappointing a good build up but the end was just rushed and it didn't go with a bang but a wimper...
Well they had to somehow show BLM 🤡 defeat a global Nazi empire … so yeah , it was always going to be Ludicrously DUMB
It got too political. Started suggesting that Black Communists were the good guys. (I mention they were black because it played a role in their ideology).
@@BrandonToy nah i liked that part cus it made you wonder what happened when in our reality it would have been the civil rights movement w hints to alternate reality panthers just like how there was alternate reality j edgar hoover. it def could have been a better final season or multiple seasons but i disagree about the too political stuff. i was also left wondering wtf happened to the rest of the world once the nazis leave America lol are we basically back in pre occupied times w nazis still thriving? what about nukes? also your telling me there was a gate open to multiple timeline realities and thats a good thing not bad??
@@BrandonToyI'm sorry... The topic is a show... About Nazis winning the war and imposing their politics on the world... And you think ti got "too political"?...
Really?
This is the frst video of Mystery Recapped that I am commenting on. Gotta say, this show is one of those which has to be watched in full to understand all the little callbacks and details from WWII. "Can't remember what we were fighting for" very powerful saying from the Police officer.
What happened to Italy in this universe? It would’ve been interesting if they controlled Africa rather than the Germans.
I think in the book they did but it doesn’t really focus on africa and Southern europe that much
On the map it shows that Germany has Italy annexed alongside their European axis allies except Japan. As for Japan they also have their ally Thailand annexed.
This is the time stamp of the map 0:30
@@FroppyVA yeah I saw that but from what I’ve heard about the book Italy controls majority of Africa, the Middle East and some parts of the Balkans but I assume the show just glossed over that.
😯 🤦♂️
Mussolini dies and Germany launch operation axis so Italy is annexed or puppeted I think.
It was such an incredible book, however the series dragged a bit… I am rewatching it now though!

This show had sooo much potential, unfortunately i stopped after S3, i just don't feel it anymore, it was sooo good up till S2

I don’t understand why no one seems to know about this great series
The “Obergruppenführer” translates to “Above Group Leader” also it’s not spelled Ober gr ü ppen Fuhrer, but how i spelled it. Also it would have spaces between “Ober, Gruppen, and Führer”
This was an outstanding series. Kept my interest from start to finish.
except that it is ridiculously unrealistic and clownish propaganda do influence your understanding of the NSDAP
0:49 For the last time, that's not a Swastik. The Germans never used such a word. Swastik is an Indian symbol of prosperity, the German symbol is called 'Hakenkreuz'.

A pretty riveting and compelling Elseworld I didn't know it was based off a book. I've enjoyed seeing DC do a couple similar tackles of this concept like the animated Justice League 3-part Season 1 finale and the huge Arrowverse crossover event "Crisis on Earth X".
Finally, you recapped one of my favorite alternate history series!
YESSS YOU RECAPPED IT BRO!!!!
finally i can watch dis shit with my low attention span
High Castle was great TV kept thinking right up to the end Smith was going to redeem himself. Only grip I had was the potential alternate timeliness were teased but not explored.
Now we need a movie about what if imperial germany won ww1
Well the result of the Germans winning ww1 wouldn’t be nearly as crazy as the nazis winning ww2
Just a few territorial changes in Europe and such but they weren’t trying to take over the world
not much, really, Germany wouldn't have enough resources to keep others down and the WW2 would start anyways
This was one of the best show i have ever seen.
Intro song was nice too
the series really deserves to be watched its quite good, though they run out of time at the end of it
I could not imagine what happened to the Queen of England and Winston Churchill in England in this type of alternative timeline
During WW2, there were evacuation plans in place that had the Royal Family fleeing to Canada, so I would assume King George VI and family would've attempted that.
The series is really good, but the last season and especially the last episode is rushed, but all in all it's a good series
This is some Wolfenstein content right here.

And not to pile on….. Canon City is Spanish and has an ena on/in it. So it’s actually pronounced like Canyon City.
"And erick, whos name is significantly easier to pronounce" had me laughing harder then it should have 😅
This is why I love historical movies.. stuff like this could of really happened and alot of right now would've never happen
I will never ever understand these movies were somebody is trying to kill the main characters and then they win the fight and kill the bad guy and then they break down feel guilty about it and all this other BS? Absolutely ridiculous.
I was intrigued with the alternate history but then when you mention the sci-fi aspect i'd rather not watch. I wanted to watch the military strategy, the diplomacy. Somehow i always think the idea of two reality collided and make a desired outcome for both world is kind of a cheat code
This story proves that humans will strive for freedom even in face of certain death.
In movies the resistance is much appreciated and the real life totally opposite 😹
0:49 No the nazi symbol's name is Hakenkreuz a German word. Swastika is an Indian word from Sanskrut language used for the symbol revered by Hindus, Buddhists & Jains.
Not same there is differences plus it just a coincidence
@@Johnnythehandsome What is not the same? What difference are you talking about? Which co-incidence are you referring to? You need to be a bit more clear so I can understand what you're trying to say.
In my comment I'm simply referring to the actual name of the nazi symbol which is Hakenkreuz & not the Indian word used here.
I could see people against this go full Star Wars and leading a rebellion now that would be a good movie

A world where Japan doesn't like modern art??! A WORLD WITH OUT ANIME!?
Would be interesting to see such a documentary where the Nazis actually win. Ofc without the biases and a story where there's a hero who might fix everything. Just episodes where they show daily life of people of all kind.
None of the stories would be happy in ending and I think that would make a nice touch
@@See_nn it doesn't need one just the struggle within the inner circle and the possible war with Japan would be enough and the good ending would be that Germany wins from Japan or war is avoided, and then you could go on in the technological struggle a possible war in space later in the story since the Germans where so far ahead in technology
Hope Putin invades evil Germany
@@AudieHolland nah man Uboats is not enough when they are now start being hunted in late 1942

An idea for another video regarding 'alternative universes' - with far-reaching historical implications - what if Constantinople never fell?
It kind of makes me wonder, what would people do if they weren't so busy fighting wars? What would people do with themselves? Would they even know what to do? Just seems like all of our drama is just to give ourselves an illusion of some semblance of purpose in an otherwise meaningless life.
