after over 2 years the legend has returned
Yes!
Yeah it was too long!!
Glad to see him back
Thought he fell into one of the fatal Covid statistics
When are you gonna return to war videos
Legendary Comeback 🔥
Ahh here we go my favorite channel, keep them coming.
I am overwhelmed with the amount of fresh content this channel has posted in just couple of days after almost 3 years break. Welcome back!1
Didn't know Lenovo was THIS big. Always though HP/Dell were alone at the top.
Depends on the region. Lenovo is not that strong in US for example.
I believe these are worldwide sales. Lenovo is huge in China.
Lenovo is old IBM. IBM wanted out of the PC business in 2005 to focus more on things that made better money so they sold everything to Lenovo and probably still have a percentage or something. So Lenovo got a big head start with re-branded IBM equipment and probably all the accounts for the first many years and then built upon the existing tech to start producing their own.
@@jamescole6846 Well, they kept the quality.
Lenovo tend to be the standard issue laptop for the work place.
I guess it makes sense. Apple might be popular with personal computing, but Dell and HP are definitely used more in offices, universities and general industry, which probably covers a lot more units than PCs
They also have broader segmentation.
normal ppl can't afford an apple laptop for home use
Apple is super expensive and mostly meant for the content creations and graphic designers. PCs are more affordable and can buy in bulk for office use.
Considering apple is one company and one os competing against hundreds of companies with a different OS says a lot.
you didn't cover lenovo
FYI, Lenovo (as a computer company) is basically IBM, rebranded. They bought IBM's PC division back in the late '90s/early '00s and rebranded.
So IBM Computers is still the top, but they are owned by/partnered with Lenovo now.
by that logic, compaq is also at second because hp bought em.
Lenovo bought IBM PC in 2005 I think. They announced the deal in late 2004.
На тикнькпадах пишут что это IBM
We’re so glad you’re back. I’m committed to watching all of these.
So glad to see you back with more hypnotically beautiful data!
Thank you D.I.B. for making more content again. You’ve inspired me to make bar graph racing videos like this one. Also happy holidays to you and your family.
-Peace;)
Congratulations on becoming a father and welcome back! Have a safe holiday season and New Year! It's great you're posting again!
Thank you!
omg can't believe you came back ❤ welcome back bro 👋.
I Love the music so much in your videos, keep rocking the content !
yes. another video. I'm so glad that your are back for real. 🔥
LOVE the music you do with these videos! ♥️♥️♥️
Good to see you back 🙌
Hope you are earning well from RUclips mate. Your content is informative and valuable.
Always great content. Keep it up.
This is the channel which makes me to take start interest in stats videos 🥰🥰
OH MY GOISH the data-visualizing legend has returned! :D
They returned when we needed them most
Apple?
@@omargonzalezortiz320 nah the channel itself
Ah the boss returned !!! I love your videos : they are really relevant!!
Love it. The FWOOP! that happened when HP and Compaq merged, just amused the hell out of me. Knew it was coming, but man that was exciting. I'm... I'm very boring. lolol
Apple, HP, and Dell are on the chart since 1996. Legends :)
Welcome back!
What would be awesome is if you put an overall percentage of the total number of units sold by each company at the end so we can see which company has been the most successful over the given years. Maybe do it for other new videos, (for example the most viewed TV-shows) Hope this makes sense, love the videos!
Ahhhh my old gateway. Those were the days.
Data is Beautiful
IVE BEEN WAITING
Will you do a new video of popularity of systems? That was my favourite movie on your channel! ;)
It's ready, will publish in couple of days.
I've been with ASUS since 2012. Haven't looked back for 10 years now. One of my best decisions ever.
I totally agree with this bar graph!
Back in 1998 owned Compaq then had some custom builds made from Asus parts along with Toshiba gifts that were not so popular. Right now I own ThinkPad Lenovo which is rated at military grade reliability.
I have a Lenovo laptop too. Excellent piece of hardware.
@@titusmccarthy me too.
I love that Lenovo claims their Thinkpads are rated at military grade reliability, but the coating they use for their (case) plastics degrades and loses its layers like an onion after only a year of normal day-to-day usage.
Oh yeah, due to that degrading, Lenovo won't repair your laptop under warranty.
I'm glad you are re-making your old videos!
It's about time.
@@DataIsBeautifulOfficial no pun intended
lol
Still can't believe he's back
Thought you stopped, glad you haven't
I had a Compaq as my first laptop when I was a kid... Good times... :')
I remember my first family shared computer was gateway in the 90s
This Legendary Music

Thank you!
bro just skipped the entire pandemic lol great to see you back!
lol kind of.
THE RETURN OF GREATNESS!!!!
CompaQ ❤️ my first computer
Awesome 😉
I had never even heard the name Lenovo and yet it's been the best-selling computer brand for a few years... I truly live under a rock.
If you’d ever seen a “ThinkPad”, that is a Lenovo laptop, commonly used by companies as work Laptops. The ThinkPad is the Laptop with a red dot in the keyboard that acts as a cursor
I never heard of it either, it's a relief I'm not alone.
Lenovo laptops are mostly rebranded IBM laptops, like the Thinkpad. They bought IBM in the early 2000's, hence the sudden jump from IBM to Lenovo in the video.
Nice👍
I have a Compaq until 90s, in 2007 I have a HP Pavilion PC with Windows Vista, 3GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Intel Core 2 Duo processor and ATI Radeon video card 256MB. In 2012 I have a Xtratech desktop with Windows 7 and an HP laptop with Windows 8 at the end of 2012. Now I have a Gateway laptop with Windows 11, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD + 1TB HDD(added for me) and Intel Core i5 processor
My very first laptop was a Compaq. That thing was tough.
Compaq & IBM were the days I had my first PC when I was a kid.
I remember a tons of Compaq ads in those days magazines.
In 2000 Compaq said "my job here is done" and dipped out. Also had no idea Lenovo was doing that well, must be popular in the corporate world
THEY’RE BACK!!!
Lenovo really does have great computers and laptops, they deservedly hold #1.
What definition did you use for computers becoz tablets are now officially part of computer definition, since couple of years now, in addition to desktops and laptops?
Also Compaq was bought by HP in 2002. That's the reason for it not showing up later.
Tablets included in stats.
i didnt know about compaq aquisition, also what happened to IBM ?
@@sigfigronath IBM sold their entire PC department to Lenovo in 2005.
1 in every 4 laptops sold in the world every quarter being a Lenovo laptop is kind of insane.
Soundtrack is haunting, emotive, made for bar chart races capturing the essence of the rise and fall of data and eras through time.
Wow Amzing Asus and Acer on the top as a Taiwanese im pround
Never knew Lenovo was very big. Assume it's popular in China or India and not Europe.
Correct, it's only #4 in US
I love this channel
cool
Nice to
You KNOW you were eyeing apple the entire time. Either rooting for it or hating it. Don’t deny. lol.
watching this from HP laptop :)
Are these numbers annual sales worldwide or just the US only? And also are they desktop computers or laptop computers?
Worldwide trailing 12 months sales market share.
Interesting the last 12 years six companies were the same ones just changing spots in the top six.
Healthy competition.
Where were you in the last two years? I miss your channel😂
busy, sorry
Typing this now on a Lenovo gaming laptop!
I have a acer for the win!
Teacher : what's your source in this information
Me: so there's this youtube channel
lol
Yeah! YEAH! YEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHH!
i had a gateway PC, shame they never took off
I've never heard of Lenovo before this video lol
Lenovo is huge in some countries and virtually non existing in others. Where are you from?
@@DataIsBeautifulOfficial I'm from the Netherlands
i love apple & HP
I love Apple & HP & Asus
Please start in 1980 next time! 😊
Who else is watching on a Macbook?
could you give me a name of this song?
hp is love
Considering how many MacBooks I see floating around, I'm surprised they don't have more market share. And surprising that the Windows surface computers never showed up!
Microsoft Surface? It's peaked at 3% market share in US
@@DataIsBeautifulOfficial oh wow. I have one, and it's the perfect windows laptop experience. By the way, you as a creator, the only thing more refreshing than the quality videos is a creator being active in the comments. The discussion makes your videos all the better!
Those are personal machines. If you consider office laptops, almost every company has thinkpad, Hp dell
Anyone remember when Packard Bell was a thing?
Idk if I have ever seen one of these where a brand goes from 1st place to dropping off the chart in less than a second.
Buyout.
@@DataIsBeautifulOfficial Right, by HP. That makes sense. I remember Compaq being the "cheaper" line of HPs when I worked at Circuit City right before they closed down. Don't know if I knew they used to be their own company.
When you hear the Heaven and Hell track…they’re back 👏
My favorite.
Just a question, where have you been?
Personal matters.
too bad we can't exclude corporate sales. I wonder what home computing sales would look like. I just have a hard time imagining Lenovo Thinkpads being the home laptops of choice.
There are more models. I used to buy Lenovo Ideapads which were/are perfectly fine for private users.
Well, my choice they are. Corporate buy them for a reason.
Acer Swift laptops
Got to say, didn't expect Asus to be *that* low down. Thought Asus would be at the top, actually (and maybe Lenovo 2nd)
Glad CrApple stayed near the bottom :)
Why? Competition is good.
"Stayed near the bottom" in the list of the top 5 best-selling computer companies in the world, with almost 1 in every 10 laptops sold in the entire world being a MacBook. And in 2022 Mac sales grew by 40% despite the overall PC market sales declining by 35% year over year.
@@utubekullanicisi And MacBooks are the most profitable just like iPhones and iPads.
Me who built my own pc: ha no brand
I’ve never heard of Lenovo wow
no way
I was surprised that chrome books were not on the list
Chromebooks are still manufactured by one of these brands.
Apple has great marketing. Never at the top but seemingly ubiquitous.
Speaking about brand value..
Bill Gates once said, "PC controls 90% of the market", though it's been reduced if you later count in Android & iOS
Asus&Acer is Most Popular in Asia
What is Lenovo?
can someone please tell me the name of the backgroundmusic?
It's a track from RUclips library. I downloaded it several years ago and have no idea what's the title. Maybe someone here will help you.
@@DataIsBeautifulOfficial I found out that it is "Heaven and Hell" by Jeremy Blake.
but thanks for the answer anyway :D
Should have been since 1980 so the home computer in Guinness Record Book could be in the video. Commodore 64.
Most popular youtube channel please
Working on it.
the reason Lenovo became stonks now was because MotoGP rider Bagnaia became 2022 MotoGP champion with team name Ducati Lenovo team
I don’t even know someone that owns a Lenovo.
I like the look of the IBM logo the most.
I think the big, bold capital letters with serifs give it a professional vibe. Much better than most of the other ugly, rounded, lowercase, sans-serif, over-simplified trash.
If IBM was an office, it would be beige walls, beige filing cabinets, fluorescent lighting, blue carpet tiles, and water cooler.
Acer on the other hand looks like it would be teenagers sitting in beanbags, using tablet computers and smudging the screen with greasy fingers.
Congrats on becoming a dad!
Thank you!
Dude your gettin a Dell!
lol easy to buy easy to own
@@DataIsBeautifulOfficial love your videos, keep up the good work and enjoy the holidays.
1:20 Asus is among us
I honestly though that dell and HP would be switched. I know lenovo, dell, and HP own the office market. Apple owns the laptop world and movie/music world, asus gaming community. And acer is just cheap 😂. I’m not surprised by these companies being at the top at all.
