Thats way better then 8mpg and I just have a stock 350... Well worth the trouble u had... What was cost for the swap if u don't mind me asking?? Thanks
Man good video.. but I wish you would of showed more of the parts that was used...I like to see not hear how too.. camera man need to be in the engine and undercarriage.
We will be working on a complete How-To video of this conversion in the future. This was for a TV show and we only had limited screen time. Thanks for watching!
What do you got 2.5" between the engine and firewall? With the right bracket and motor mount, you could have saved yourself $1300 on the ls3 accessories drive. Also you probably could have kept the factory oil pan.
On this truck we used the 6cyl mounting holes on the frame to mount our bracket kit to. That moved our engine forward and we used some LS3 accessory belt stuff that we already had on hand. Our bracket kit can ALSO be mounted to the V8 mounting holes on the frame, which moves the engine back and creates enough clearance at the radiator for truck/long accessory belt drives as we mentioned in the video @ 9:30.
I litterally am never going to understand the idea of having an empty engine bay, and not addressing the dirty firewall, or frame rails. All it takes is a few hours of elbow grease, and some paint and the engine bay will look brand new with that modern LS in it...
This swap was done during the taping of the TV Show Sam's Garage. Studio time restrictions forced us to do this entire swap including the wiring and fuel delivery in 12 hours, and be able to drive the truck out of the studio when finished. Even though we completely agree with you, we were under a huge amount of pressure on this project and didn't have a spare minute to de-grease or paint anything.
There will be challenges along the way, but that's part of the fun, if it was easy then everyone would be doing it! Take your time, keep it simple and plan ahead and you'll be stoked on the results!
Can you still use the gas tank in the cab or is it required to place a new one under the bed?? Im assuming the high pressure fuel pump cant be done right in the cab??? I kinda like hearing the gas slosh around behind the seat lol. Id love to LS a old C10 but I am totally lost when it comes to computers and all the stuff needed to make it work right.

I’m looking at doing a LS swap for my c10 next week. If I use the 2003 motor and trans from a Tahoe or Silverado can I use the 2003 drive shaft with my 85 rear end? Or do I need to use the 85 drive shaft to get cut and balanced to work? I never see any one mention driveshaft replacement or fitting when going to LS swaps.
No one mentions it because circumstances change from swap-to-swap. Like in this case you are using an '85 rear end, some guys who do this on a '71 might be using the stock rear end, etc... In your case, we don;t have enough experience to say for sure you can use the '03 drive train with the '85 shaft and rear end, our guess is you can't. Best way to find out is to get the engine and trans installed, measure the length and check the yokes, then ask a local driveshaft shop. Sorry we couldn't be of more help.
I’m looking at a 65-66 era c30 dually. The kit on the website, is that the same kit for the 2wd dually? I was thinking of going with a manual trans like a nv4500 or similar. Thanks
Please call the office and talk to one of our techs. There are a few variables and it's too much to answer here on RUclips in the comments. Thanks for watching!
We played around with some coat hangar wire and bent it in to the shape we wanted our hoses to go. The we took a trip to the local auto parts store and dug through the options until we found stuff we could work with. It's a little hit and miss, but in the end you'll have something that looks nearly factory!
I’m doin a ls swap in a 64 c10 stepwise bed and if my budget was like yours I would be done already but I would like to know your budget and price for parts that Dakota gages man I want that you guys did great 👍 I learned a lot
We had the LS around the shop that was taken out of a different build, so that was kind of "FREE". That gave us a few extra bucks to spend on the Holley system which just made the swap easier. All-in we probably spent around $5000-$6000 once all the small stuff was added up.
I paid $7500 for parts and labor to a shop that did a 6.0/4L60 on my 50 Chevy pickup she’s running awesome I could do it myself but I have no help and only 2 hands that’s why I decided to take it to the shop that way everybody wins.
Not sure what you mean? Do you want to use the original gearbox from your truck, or tge original gearbox that goes with the LS? if you want to use the LS gearbox then thats no problem, if you want to use the original gearbox then some modifications need to be done to adapt the engine and trans and provide a proper crossmember
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV Did you use a harness for the charging or build yourself? What did you do with wires running to the regulator? ( Junction block?)
The Sniper kit is $999-1500 depending on which one you choose. Bracketry for this swap is $720. You'll need a fuel pump, radiator, drive shaft, exhaust and other peripherals which you should probably budget $1500-2000 for. So in the range of $3200-4200 providing you already have the motor/trans.

You could use the factory tank in the cab, but you'd need a few modifications to make it work. Return line, external pump, etc...
