Hi Alan great to see you back, what a great episode, loved the fact you had to get permission from the home owners to view the grave. I wonder how it would work if the family of Graham wanted to add someone into the same plot 🤦🏼♀️ thanks again for another interesting grave visit xx take care keep safe xx
Hello Tricia, that's super nice of you too. Comment about missing the channel with so many things on RUclips I really didn't expect anyone to be bothered, but regarding Graham, I'm sure there must be a. I think they call it a covenant where the family will have access to the graves that showing the private section. It's the only way it could make sense. They were super nice people. I stumbled across this site on RUclips and I’m hooked! It’s so well presented and it’s interesting to hear a little bit about the celerities’ lives not just when they died. Keep posting these videos sir. I love them!❤
I remember Graham Hill and he was suave and handsome but I did not know that he died in a plane crash. Like you say. He was brave and determined and achieved so much. 🥰
Thank ;you Alan again another video that I have really enjoyed. Found this interesting because although I am not a racing fan, my husband and son are F1 mad and always loved Damon Hill. You have presented him brilliantly and really done Graham proud in this one. I am also taking away with me, hopefully, the positive attitude, so thank you for that reminder. Let's hope it does do us all some good. Thanks Alan.
Well, if there was anyone who could emulator positive attitude it was Graham. So when we feel weak we should try and think of something like him and it'll give a strength hopefully 😂 Thank you for the lovely comment. Much appreciate Louise
Totally love these tributes to these dearly departed individuals. People I grew up watching and being entertained by. Sorry to hear about your Dad, but he will live on through you and your ways and to a degree your ideas and thoughts. I lost my Dad in 1997 but not a day goes past when I am not reminded of him in some way. Anyone who knew him would say he was a gentleman. I wish to be remembered in the same way. Used to watch Graham with him. Thanks for the usual high quality video. My thoughts are with you. Maybe do Peter Aliss at some time. Best wishes.
Hello, WWW thank you ever so much for the intelligent and thoughtful comment. I'm glad you enjoy these films dedicated to the memory of these fine people that were known in the public eye. Your father sounded like a wonderful person. It was my partner Pauline actually but not to worry. Very best regards to you Alan
HimAlan thank you for your lovely video today. I do remember his death even though I was very young and then I was pleased that his son Damon then took up Formula one racing as well and did well but didn’t acheieve the records that his dad did. Thank you for showing us Graham’s grave and being very respectful as you always are.xx
I also remember I think Damon did fabulously when he was under the shadow of such a great father He must had to the pressure. You are so nice look after yourself. Alan
Thank you for this Alan. I was about to watch last year's Goodwood Revival races, and upon seeing there's a Graham Hill Tribute Parade, realized I don't know much about him. But now I do.
Hello! Den it is never an accident when people are so successful. He was a really courageous hard working driver that was inhibited by his lack of skill But overcome all ihis deficiencies I was amazed when I watch some documentaries on Graham a courageous man. Thank you, Alan
Hello Alan lovely to see you. I remember this man my elder brother was a big Big fan in the day. Many thanks for this. Keep doing what your doing love it. Take care 💞🌹
Another brilliant video Allan. Thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I just about remember Graham Hill on This is Your Life when Eamon Andrews presented him with the big red book. I was only 8 years of age but I still remember it. Graham was a hero. Rest in Peace Graham.

Missed you good to see you. I remember Graham Hilll. I remember the crash . I loved watching racing . I didn't realise Damon was his son. Thanks for sharing this interesting story love from Holmfirth West Yorkshire 💙💚
Hello Gill It's lovely to see you again. I hope you're keeping well. Not only is son Damon went into racing but also his grandson although he retired at 22. Hope you're looking after your garden and thank you. See you again soon Alan.
The first F1 race i attended was the 1971 International Trophy at Silverstone, the last F1 race that Graham won in a F1 car. i was a dedicated hill fan from that time on. i will never forget the fateful night he crashed. i had just got in from a night out with my mates in a Cheltenham nightclub. i turned the radio on and the news came on stating that a light aircraft had crashed on Elstree Golf course believed to belong to Graham Hill, i was absolutely devastated. needless to say i became a fan of Damons and was delighted when he won The British Grand Prix at Silverstone, a feat his father never managed in his career, and then went on to win the World Championship.
Men were men back then. It must've taken every inch of energy to get back into the car after his crash and come 7th. RIP Graham Hill and the rest of the people who died in the plane crash. My condolences on the passing of Pauline.
Anthony, you got the entire thing. I think you can sense he did it all but could manage but all the will in his world was there that originally got him to success BUT if the flesh is weak. Big thank you on a personal level you are observational. Thank you, Alan
On the way back from the first Goodwood Revival in 1998, (the best race meeting I ever marshalled at), I stopped at Shenley to find Graham's grave. I found the church and realised it was a private house and there seemed to no way in. Wondered how you got in. Fun fact, Lyndhurst house was later owned by one Alan Parsons of Project fame and engineer at Abbey Road studios
I lived in Edgware Next to Mill Hill Broadway I don't know if you do know. Where Graham's buried, Its behind his house where lived all those years of racing.
Great video, glad to see you back. I was only 5 when he passed but he seemed very charming and there is no doubt he was the best in his field. Damon certainly had a lot to live up to.
Hello Sheila, I suppose if you think about it Damon did exceptionally well with such a large successful father. He was certainly a chip off the block. Thank you for the comments. Alan
Lovely, thank you very much. To this day I find it hard to believe that a man as brave and brilliant as Graham could die in a ridiculously needless way like that. It was so tragic for him, those with him and their families. He was only 46, yet he seemed to have been around forever. I remember that horrible Saturday night so well. NOBODY has emulated his Triple Crown, and I reckon nobody ever will, and nobody since has come close to his combination of staggering achievement, immense physical courage and wonderfully hilarious humour. Not even close.
The thing was he was piloting the plane. I'm sure it was a disaster for everybody on board. Everybody died. Just one of those accidents but ironical when you look at him being racing drive
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Hi, thanks for the reply. That's part of my disbelief I think, that a man who drove in 176 GPs when GP racing was at its most lethal, with only two really bad crashes neither of which was his fault (Spain and US in 1969) and innumerable other races, including a sensationally brilliant drive at night in the rain which won Le Mans in 1972 - a man who was so brilliant and meticulous in his approach to danger - could be killed in a ridiculous and so avoidable accident like that. I wonder, if he'd lived, whether the Saudi money which went to Williams would have gone to him instead, resulting in his team being world champions... Just writing this now makes me feel so sad.
@@ysgol3 I have to stand in your shadow regarding the details of his career because I don't know as much as you. I could see that his career was based on his courage and determination and work ethic mechanical to understand the cars. But regarding the plane crash, I don't know the details, but it seemed extremely sad that everybody died all six of them. As is often the case I sometimes read more detail about the person after the film because It's sparked my interest. I'm going to look into the crash details when I've got time. I admired him that was my overall feeling from my research.
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Thank you! Graham for unknowable reasons chose to land at Elstree, his 'usual' airport, on a very foggy night instead of diverting to Luton which was fully lit and had experts present to give radio help to him. He hit the tops of trees coming in and crashed on a golf course killing all six aboard. He appears to have thought he was higher than he actually was, there's a theory that he failed to set the plane's 'altimeter' properly before leaving France - I can't explain exactly what that means though I'm afraid! Damon Hill's autobiography Watching the Wheels is brilliant, he goes into his relationship with his father, and Graham's death, in a riveting way. He says that Graham had sent a message for the Elstree airport's landing lights to be put on for him but somehow, and catastrophically, they hadn't been, and he may have mistaken lights in a railway station for the runway, hence his descent two or so miles too early. There are biographies too - Mr Monaco is great, and his widow Bette Hill's 'The Other Side Of The Hill' is fascinating, though hard to find I think, though it's very likely to be on ebay. Do read Damon's book though, it's so much better that a run of the mill sports book!
That's wonderful. Kind of you John. If everybody was a supported as you I'd have the best channel. You are an absolute gem. Thank you for the comments. I am doing ok. Regards, Alan

Hi Perditah You are equally inspirational to me, these kind of comments make me want to do the films, but I'm not sure who you mean about the lady at the end unless you can see something I didn't notice :-)
@@Perditah1 I do apologise I'm a little too close to thinking clearly, Pauline was my partner who Unfortunately died. But thank you for asking. I will be dedicating every film to her from here onwards because she encouraged me to produce from the beginning...
I still like F1 and remember so well when he died, he had many more years ahead, but when he and Jim Clark, Stirling Miss et al did their racing it was a much more dangerous time in racing as there are more protections for drivers these days. Sad loss to racing ❤️👍
Hello English bull, I know what you mean. It's always difficult to be the second act, but to follow something like Graham. It's almost impossible to match, but I think he did a good job did Damon. I'm sure Graham would be proud. It's great to see you again. Alan

Brilliant to see you back, Alan, and another great video . Very sad as I had forgotten how young he was when he died. Very sad as he got himself back as best he could after the car crash only to perish in an aircraft . Great work ❤️
Just amazing to think that a man of such charisma, skill and dedication, a two time F1 world champion, and the only triple crown motorsport winner's grave is just over a small fence along a country road. 😕

Hello Peter, that's so kind of you to comment on the content. I do try. I love watching documentaries before and often I know the people also. Regarding the grave, the public can't go in. really it's private land now but the people were phenomenally nice. I'm sure anybody who asked to would let them. Regarding the family, I don't know but I would assume there will be some right of way. The church has made a wonderful house. They've lived there for about 20 years. Look after yourself and thank you. Alan
Sandra, that's very very generous of you. I I've just noticed I can never get my head around this bit where occasionally people that have enjoyed the content donate a little bit to the channel. It is expensive travelling for the videos but I don't mind because it's my hobby primarily. I do really enjoy researching them and I'm so pleased that other people seem to like watching them. So once again big thank you Alan
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Hi Alan you are very welcome. I really enjoy your channel and so do many others as all the comments are lovely. Thank you for all that you do for us to watch and make comments and you are very respectful when you visit the graves and also tell us all the life history of the person. Take care Sandra ♥️
Graham Hill, he just had they look didn't he. Racing driver, Hurricane Pilot, Cavalier, SAS hero, Knight of the round table. He just had to be something like that rather than spending his life at Smith's Instruments lol. Another nice story Alan. A mix of respect, interest, history and always a little sadness. The cars on the rather isolated grave but so hard to access is a shame. My condolences regarding Pauline. She must have been very special.
Hi Antony I love that of you too mention Pauline thank you she did and they also means you got to the end of my video which a lot don't 😀. I was really taken by Graham's courage. He wasn't by far the best driver but he superseded is rivals by share determination and drive. No pun intended :-) I really enjoyed watching the documentaries about him and I do think the people that own the property but super nice and will come in. So if anybody does want to visit I'm sure they will have a problem. Did he not lock the part? He was perfect in every respect like the the suave charismatic guy.. I'm so jealous! Ahah It's great to see you and your comment. Bye for now, Alan
I was on double decker bus, coming from barnet Market going to borehamwood in heavy fog, when i heard the sound of a low flying over towards arkey golf course. Didn't know at that point it was Graham Hill, heard on the news later that day. I have been to Graham Hill house lynehurst lodge was same name as school i went to.
Hi Rhys Thank you for that. Very interesting memory even though it's quite eerie. If I presume you mean the day died in the helicopter crash? Take care, alan
Great to see you again Alan, we haven't half missed you & your vids my friend & Graham Hill was my favourite driver. But I must admit for the first time I was rather saddened at the fairly rough condition of the plot & stone, I wonder if Graham had any sort of organised following, fan club, appreciation society etc, as they could maybe tidy it up a little being as he was so well known & still well remembered, with the families permission of course. Just a quick little story, when I was a child in the 60s we had a local fishing tackle shop in town ran by a Mr Hilton, who to me just happened to be Graham Hills double, right down to the slicked back hair & Errol Flynn tash, dad always told me he actually was Graham Hill, I believed him for years, Lol! Can I be cheeky & perhaps suggest doing the 'Carry On' team Allen. as a sort of connected compilation.
Another great video Alan. That brought back some happy memories from when I was a kid. Me and my friend Jim would race around on our bikes pretending to be Graham Hill and Jim Clark. We would have been about 8 years old LOL. Take care and have fun. :-)
Thanks for your caring knowledgeable tribute. Graham Hill was a childhood hero of mine, (second to Jim Clark it's true). Graham Hill comes across so well in any film clip I've seen of him. I would have thought he'd have a more flamboyant grave. With somehow a shock of hair on it maybe to flip and slick back, and a witty smile. It's also good though he has a quite personable and quite English grave. Rather close to a roadway, but, well he was a Driver. I like your accent: What part of Britain is your accent from? I want to say Yorkshire, but that's only because distinctive accents come from there.
Hello Carl it was next to a very busy road so I wasn't so keen on the spot. But like you say it was a driver. I watched a couple of documentaries. He was very courageous and that's what gave him the ability to overskill he wasn't the most skillful. Very stylish men. In actual fact the grave is in what is now a private house it was bought so I had to ask permission but they were fantastic, very friendly and took me to it The church have been converted a few decades ago. I'm from Bradford in West Yorkshire .... You never hear your own accents. Thank you for the great comment. Nice to see you. Alan

Thank you very much Wendy for your encouraging comments. All the best, Alan
Incredible! I did not know that.....Graham Hill is buried in what is now someone's front yard, just there by the side of the road....wow
I agree! It's totally amazing. Such an important and brave person
I'm sure anybody who wants to visit. What have any problem. You take care and thank you for everything. Alan

Thank you for the lovely coming Anita. It was a shame he worked in such high performance machines to end up in a plane crash
Yes I remember the crash like it was yesterday apparently the only thing to identify him was his teeth a sad end to a wonderful man
So glad to see you back 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍☝☝☝☝☝☝☝☝☝

Good to see you back Alan. Great video as ever. Thanks for doing them.
Hello Kim, nice to see you again and thank you. See you again soon. Alan

Hello Paul, wasn't he a brave man? That's what made. The difference is determination. We need to take a leaf out of his book. All the best mate. Alan

Hi Alan, great to see another visit. I think I might have e mailed you about this, sorry if you’ve already read it, but I wondered if you might be able to find and visit any of the cast from DadsArmy, I loved that programme growing up. I know Clive Dunn is possibly in Portugal but any of the others would be great 👍
Hello Martin, don't worry about contacting me, do it as often you want. I'm quite happy The guy that played Arnold Ridley is definitely possible to do. I was going to try to do it last year but at least one of the channel is already done this. Similarly, captain Captain mannering. I'm a massive fan of this comedy.
Remarkable he came back from that injury to his legs. Mind over matter hey wow
Exactly! It's wonderful willpower. Nice to see you Grave Visitations

Hi, even more amazingly, he came 6th and got a point!
Good to see you back 😊
Kelly so nice to notice have a lovely day
Fond memories from the few times our paths crossed - me a very junior helper in a few teams.
Lovely tribute to a lovely man xx
Janet Thank you and Graham was a great subject What's a brave hard working person
Nice one Alan x
Thank you, Maureen
I lived in Edgware

I don't know if you do know.
Where Graham's buried,
Its behind his house where lived all those years of racing.
Good work and great choice of location.
Thank you my friend that's very sweet of you. Hope you are keeping well.
Very interesting i used to follow F1 in those days Graham played the part Great driver.
Welcome back Alan, Happy New Year. 🙂

I still like F1 and remember so well when he died, he had many more years ahead, but when he and Jim Clark, Stirling Miss et al did their racing it was a much more dangerous time in racing as there are more protections for drivers these days. Sad loss to racing ❤️👍

Jimmy didn't die in Indianapolis though, that was in Hockenheim during a lower formula race. Cheers
Hi Jiggermast You're a superstar on this channel! Thank you for your great comments. It makes it a joy to do. Regards, Alan
Another great video Alan. That brought back some happy memories from when I was a kid. Me and my friend Jim would race around on our bikes pretending to be Graham Hill and Jim Clark. We would have been about 8 years old LOL. Take care and have fun. :-)
I'm fantastic Graham that you had the names and what a lovely memory of your childhood. I wonder which one the most 🙂 take care ❣️
Alan
