Hi Chris! Thank you! You do not have to speak French to volunteer, but it is recommended, if not required, such as in French-speaking settings. Fortunately, the English hospitals and clinics (especially in the West Island) mostly deal with English-speaking patients, which makes it easier for healthcare staff and volunteers who are not as comfortable in French.
Hi Med, I have a question. Which premedical experience did you have? I'm searching but everything seem inaccessible in Montreal for someone who has no experience. I can't be a medical scribe because they ask for a DEC in this field. I can't be a Medical Assistant because they demand a full time worker ( I can't I have to study). I feel like it is impossible to get a clinical experience. What did you do?
You don't have to work to get clinical experience! You can volunteer in hospitals or clinics and shadow doctors to gain some experience until you get your DEC!
Great video!! Thank you so much for this helpful information!! 🤩🤩
You're very welcome Kalista! I'm glad you found it helpful! 😊
Hi Mani! I really enjoyed your video :)) In Montreal, do you have to speak French to volunteer at hospitals or clinics?

Hi! Do you think that a secondary 4 student should start doing extracurriculars? Is it too soon?
Never to soon to start extracurriculars! If anything, showing your dedication and commitment from a younger age looks even better on an application!
I'm in the same position asking myself the same question 😂
