    Ok i still have a few doubts 1. Is Holding a bachelor's degree or finishing the Masters considered an eligibility for medical school 2. Is the CASper test easy to pass or does it require good preparation 3.Will there be interview for all before getting into medical school ? 4.Is there any preference for students who have previously took a bachelor's from the same university 5.Is MCAT hard to pass? Also is there any university without MCAT other than mcgill which is easy to get in ? I know I've asked a lot of questions at a time, it would be great if you consider to reply😄

    Hi, I am a highschool student in quebec and my school (private) offers a grade 12 following the ontario education, so my question is should i do year 12 and then 4 years at uni and then medical school or should I go to cegep and then apply directly to medical school. And what program do you need to apply for in cegep to do well.

    • @medwithmani
      @medwithmani Месяц назад

      If you do grade 12, you'll have to go through a bachelor's degree and then apply to med. If you go straight to CEGEP, you can apply to pre-med once you finish. Both are good options, and you would need to complete a health science degree to meet the prerequisites requirements for medical school!

      The bachelor's itself does not matter, as long as you complete the science pre-requisite courses required by McGill (physics, chemistry, biology, math). This can be done as part of your degree or as separate courses, so you should do a degree that you think you will perform well in and you'll enjoy!

    I am graduating in fall 2024 as I had switched form social to Health so I had to do an extra semester. Since McGIll has increased their requirements from 2 years to 3 years this is all great for me. However, I do not understand the timeline to apply for Med P since I am 1 semester late I don't have my degree yet. When should I start submitting my application form? Also do cegep students all have to go through Med P or is there a way to directly go into MDCM?

    • @medwithmani
      @medwithmani 7 месяцев назад

      That's great! You'll apply next year if you finish in the Fall. Should you get in, you'll have the Winter 2025 semester off! Applications open on September 1st usually and go until November 1st! Unfortunately, CEGEP graduates have to go through Med-P, which is 1 preparatory year and then you start the MDCM program! Only students with a bachelor's degree could directly apply to the MDCM program. Hope this helps!

    Inspiring story man. I’m really confused about some things right now. The medical school at McGill basically offers the MDCM program correct? Is it for high school graduates or do you NEED to have an undergraduate degree beforehand as is the case in the universities in the US? I’m getting really varied information on the internet which I can’t trust. Also, is French proficiency an admission prerequisite? I’m from india so when I looked up the website it says there are merely 2 seats for international students, that is indeed extremely competitive but I believe I can still get in, given high school graduates are eligible. Cheers🎉

    • @medwithmani
      @medwithmani 7 месяцев назад

      Hey! So yes, McGill offers an MDCM program, which is equivalent to a MD. High school graduates CANNOT get accepted. In Quebec, they must at least go through CEGEP first. As an international applicant, you must apply to an undergraduate program (i.e., a Bachelor of Science program), complete that and the program pre-requisite courses, and then you can be considered for one of the 2 international spots. I hope this helps clear some things.

      I appreciate the support! Secondary 4 grades do not impact your medical school admission. However, sec 4 grades are crucial to getting into a good Science program in CEGEP which would then allow you to apply to medicine! So make sure you keep those Science and Math grades up!

    • @medwithmani
      @medwithmani 10 месяцев назад

      You're welcome! After med school is residency, where you spend 2 to 6 years or so specializing in a particular part of medicine. For example, individuals who want to become family doctors will do an additional 2 years after med school to specialize in family medicine.

    Hi thanks for your information I’m 37 years old and I have master in civil engineering but my ambition is to study in medicine in Canada I’m in Montreal now and my question is , how do you think about my age is it matter for getting medicine here ? Should I start with bachelor in biology?

      Hi! You're on the older side, but I think the range goes up to 40 in my class (but there's no limit). If you did your science pre-requisites, no need to do a degree in Biology for example assuming you had a strong GPA. Hope this helps!

      Hey! Best of luck! The average interviewed R score last year was just above 36, it will likely be the same this year. A R score of 34+ is likely considered competitive, and depending on your CASPer score and CV, you should have a good shot at an interview. Hope this helps!

    Mcgill is where a corrupt faculty member like Christine Ross in the department of art history runs her international mafia of organized crimes from. This criminal has an international gang on payola to steal from me & has so viciously taken over my finances, my bank accounts, personal accounts & now has her criminal mafia rampage our properties. This filthy criminal has built her empire in canada by running a criminal mafia of organ trafficking for big pharma, sex & human trafficking to canada, pillage, larceny, theft & taking over my work & intellectual property with her criminal mafia members. This criminal then funnels back this money to universities & museums as grants, positions, endowments, etc to by clean the money & showcase philanthropy & prestige. This criminal fraudster has self-appointed herself as a custodian to my affairs without my knowledge & consent to steal around the clock & enrich herself & her cronies. She is a corrupt & deviant larcenust that must be publucally prosecuted for her over a decade of organized crimes.

    Hi, I'm wondering if the med-p program is mandatory to go to McGill's MDCM or MDCM-PhD programs. When I looked up the class profiles of the past 5 years, I saw that the age range of the admitted resident students was 17-40 (e.g. 2022). Would that mean that the med-p program is not mandatory for applying to MDCM? (for Cegep students of course). Thanks!

    • @medwithmani
      @medwithmani Год назад

      Med-P is only mandatory if you have a DEC from CEGEP and nothing more. People who have completed a bachelor's degree in university go directly into the MDCM or MDCM-PhD program, which is the same case anywhere in the world really. Since Quebec is the only province with a Med-P program, it kind of acts like a stepping stone between the huge gap that is CEGEP vs. Med school. The age range you are referring to is from the MDCM cohorts, including Med-P. The Med-Ps on their own are all about 19-20 years old since they all recently finished CEGEP. Hope this clarifies things.

      I'm not sure I understand your question. To study in Quebec, having a base of French is important because of the large French population. Elsewhere in Canada, it's not necessary!

    Wait I didn't know you can apply to med school straight from cegep!! I thought you had to do the Med-P program at mcgill or do an undergrad

    • @medwithmani
      @medwithmani Год назад

      Yes well the Med-P program is a year of pre-med before completing 4 years of medical school to recently graduated CEGEP students. Admission to the med-p program is a guaranteed acceptance to med school assuming you meet their minimum criteria throughout the year which is super reasonable! This program is only offered at McGill and UdeM. The other french universities send you straight to 1st year of med school even directly after CEGEP!

  • @alext7202

    Hi, is McGill the only med school that requires Med-P for CEGEP students? I know Sherbrooke takes med students straight out of CEGEP but does UdeM as well?

    • @medwithmani
      @medwithmani Год назад

      No! UdeM also offers Med-P to CEGEP students whereas Sherbrooke and ULaval put CEGEP students straight into Med-1.

      @@medwithmani Is Med-P a waste of time? Seems pointless to waste a year if other med school take you straight from CEGEP no?

    • @medwithmani
      @medwithmani Год назад

      Quite the contrary! Imagine coming straight out of CEGEP and competing with classmates who have an entire undergraduate degree or even master's and PhD in your class! The Med-P program is kind of like a transition year so you can adapt to the university, and specifically, med school workload to minimize the "culture" shock when you officially start!

    • @alext7202
      @alext7202 Год назад

      @@medwithmani I guess we will have to agree to disagree 🙂A med student friend of mine said med-p is pointless. You only need a 3.5 to pass & it is way easier than an average bachelor class, so you are not getting the full uni experience. The only benefit he claims is you will be slightly move versed in genetics, which you will learn in med school anyway. Half the med schools in qc don't see the benefit of it, so idk. It would be nice to hear from students that completed the program. Maybe an idea for a new video?😉

    • @medwithmani
      @medwithmani Год назад

      Fair! I'm not saying it's equivalent to a bachelor's degree, far from it, but it is essentially equivalent to the 1st year of a bio bachelor. Given that you will be better versed in anatomy/physiology, genetics, and stats, this is a better intro to medicine, than going straight from CEGEP. But yes, from what my classmates have told me, it is an "easy" year when you compare it to med school itself! Definitely a good topic for a future video though.
