#sailing #dinghyrepair #howtofix
Won’t last long term. Doesn’t even work long term in bicycle tires.
Slime is one of many brands of sealant marketed to act as a puncture sealant on tubeless bicycle tires.
I think Highfield should give you a new dinghy to promote!❤
I started an email chain with Highfield! They need to support Jibsea! Best sailing content on youtube!
omg what a thumbnail tease..hahahahahah.....Slimme is great for a flat tire, happy it works on the Ding..
Not a bad idea. That’s why we call them “deflatables” and finally bought a hard dinghy.
Haha sounds about right! The more places we sail to, the more we lean towards a hard dinghy as well
If you use the Slime, you have to tilt the dingy so the Slime runs downhill into the hole, as you said. They say it's only for temporary repairs. Will cause an imbalance in a bicycle or car tire but might work for the dingy. Good luck from Ontario.
I can guarantee it won't work I've tried many times on a lawn tractor, tire it's very temporary
Hopefully not, time will tell!
What are your plans for this hurricane season? I used to think Newfoundland was safe but not after Fiona. It's a shame too because no RUclips that I know of seems to cruise there.
Great idea, I am repairing our dinghy it’s a little more complicated needs lots of loving.. we named her “turd bucket”.. we bought a sailboat and dingy and motor came with it and eventually going to up grade but for now we gotta make do.. like you channel and your ideas how to fix things on a budget.. be safe have fun..
Hi, not sure how long this may last as the inside of the tube has been exposed to salt water and that probably contaminated the area around the cut. Hope it is a permanent fix! Time will tell. Great video again!
You censored the BEST PART.
Have used 'Slime' in my vehicle tires with much success. It's usually recommended (or comes standard) for eBike tires.😊👍🏻
Travis carrys that outboard like a bag of trick or treat candy #stud 😂
We use a aerosol one called
Tyre Panda.
For car tyres
AWESOME Rockin Roll 😊
Would be a great idea to Slime all the tubes in your tender. 🎉❤😊
Slime works awesome in our sand buggy tires.
Great you fixed your dinghy leak. Hopefully this fixes it otherwise a new one will likely be needed . $12 could save you thousands.
$12 ain’t too shabby!
Travis needs to sew some chaps for those dinghy tubes to keep down the sun damage! If your ambitious you can add storage pouches on them as well that come in super handy.
They did have them but had to take em off as they needed to be re done, its on his list of things to do haha
Clark of Emily&Clark's Adventure channel has tried stuffing inflatable dunnage bags inside dinghy tubes. They'll hold the air so your exterior patch doesn't have to.
Just a side observation. Because the tittle of this video mentions a leaky boat, the suggested videos on the RHS of YT page is mostly boats stacking it ha!
Although a 4-5 in gash may beyond the capabilities of Slime or any similar sealant.
Have not had a flat since using that stuff years ago and my last long ride was a fully loaded Mt bike on 750 miles of mostly trail!
Groovy episode.
That’s a sweet fix!! Also you shouldn’t fast forward through all the best shots! 😊
If you get another bottle of slime I would add it to the same place. great show
I have used slime on golf cart tires successfully
Better buy some more of that stuff, just in case 😃
Hmm not the disastrous Hull breach !!
Good idea on the dinghy fix. I have used "slime" in bicycle tires for years to bullet proof them... at least for small leaks. Have a good one friends.
Great to know they work in our dinghy for a much cheaper alternative to the marine version!
Good luck on the Slime for the dinghy. I have a gallon of the stuff with a pump nozzle. Living on an acreage with equipment to run and Slime is a must for a quick fix.
Why hasn’t Highfield inflatables stepped up? They take care of all of the other you-tubers. They need to take care of you guys! You have the best sailing content! I’m starting an email with their marketing team! Come on Highfield! (I use slime on my 20 yr old John Deere tractor tires….seems to work…LOL! )
Haha would be nice!
Seriously, just started my email chain with Highfield. Let me know when you get the call! LOL! You guys headed for the US? Last AIS post shows coast of Dominican Republic.... much easier to get your new Highfield in FL! LOL! Stay safe! Have fun!
Denny CrossFit interesting
I had no idea, SLIME has been on the market since 1989. Travis, have you called Highfield for a replacement at cost? Hope the slime works.
Go Team Canada 🇨🇦 !!
Call hifield boats. almost every Utube crew has a Hifeld 310 hypalon classic! Hi field needs to give you a boat at manufacture cost of free. It’s free advertising! I just bought a 310 and I learned about the boats on RUclips. If they won’t call AB? Good luck! 😁
Awesome that it worked.
use E 6000 or shoe goo
Woooowww I like the video
Great idea. I'm going to try that on my leaky dinghy!
Let us know how it works!
You seem like a handy guy. Get a 18 inch pvc pipe to use as a mold and make carbon fiber tubes to replace the inflatable tubes.
Nice and light, strong and as an added bonus, you look like batman out on the water.
Material cost is around $500 bucks and a great off season project.
Slime never gets hard! Its very fibrous and fills the holes and any new (small) holes or leaks around patches. Made for tires that rotate all the time. Add more Slime and rotate the dingy so the product will cover any new holes. I have seen the green outside of the tire on my mower with new punchers and it still holds air!!
I had a flat in a tubeless bicycle tire last November. The pressure went down, but not completely flat. I pumped it up and finished the race. Now, nearly a thousand miles later, it is still working great. The only problem I see is that such sealants are meant for small punctured. For larger holes you need a plug or an internal boot. In your case, I would be optimistic that the patch already in
Place serves that purpose.
Good Luck‼️
Great fix! Using your head and probably saved thousands! Good job!
Flex tape?
I bought a big bottle for mine a month ago and haven't done it yet. Thanks for doing this before me!
Great content...but, dude, those glasses.....
What was censored??
The miracle product held in my hand
Another clever hack, well done!
Another great video!
What's censored? I don't get it.
the miracle product 😅
@@SailingJibsea Ohh, I mean could be worse clickbait. Hope you guys are sailing somewhere fun.
Come on Highfield, step up and send them a new free dinghy.
Sometimes the thumbnail is better than videos!!!! 😅
And sometimes the videos are better than the thumbnail but you’d have to click to find out either way 😅
@@SailingJibsea The problem is the thumbnail has nothing to do with the video. The classifies it as clickbait 😢. This video is the first of yours I've seen, but, I probably won't be back. Even though it was interesting.
@@edwardantrobusjr2253 nothing to do with the video? What exactly did you think we were censoring based on the title and content you watched? This isn’t the tube that starts with red
