    So true about skippers having no concerns about anchoring next to other boats and how their poor anchor holding will affect other adjacent boats. If you say anything to these skippers they get offended and often won't reset and move. You never know if they are just day anchoring or there overnight. I have experienced these skippers or seen them in spots near other boats and they are totally oblivious to what they are doing. The worst I have experienced is 30' rental houseboats in the Thousand Islands, the vessel has a 20 lb Danforth with 10' of chain and 50' of rode, the renter throws it over the side backs up and thinks he is good for the night! That is when I move spots as there is no sense in a discussion with the skipper.

    I strongly recommend that you install wheels on the transom of your dinghy. I have a similar set up on mine and it keeps the hull from being scraped. It will also allow you to take it up and down ramps.😮

    • @SailingJibsea
      @SailingJibsea  Год назад

      Unfortunately our specific dinghy brand has a transom that doesn’t allow a straightforward set of wheels to be mounted and flipped down when needed. We could have really used a set when in the UK

    Man that was a bummer if there ever was one. That sail and anchorage search looked like it was bleh to say the least. Im glad you found a place to lay your hook down. I'm glad Steph didn't give Travis too hard of a time lol That will be a story told for some time i'm sure. All confidence that the patch will hold for many trips in the future. Last anchorage was absolutely epic!! what a view that was, and the goats hahaha pretty cool

    This is why I would always use a hard dinghy, I saw another person go to shore in Alaska with a soft dinghy and a bear ripped the tube, and he had a hard time getting back to his boat

    If you can't patch it, then use expanding foam. Then patch the outside to try to keep the water out. I've seen other people do this.

    Come on Travis, have you been on the sea too long to forget the man vs woman code, Just keep saying YES ( or it lasts and will be brought up many times in the future) aka Happy Wife/GF happy life especially being in such close quarters. If Steph ever asks WE NEVER HAD this conversation/reminder. LOL, enjoy your travels, stay safe. have fun, your doing what many of us would love to do but won't.

    I've been meaning to ask about the solar panels on deck. Are they slick to walk on and are you constantly having to clean them.

    • @SailingJibsea
      @SailingJibsea  Год назад +1

      They’re slick when wet but we don’t find ourselves running forward while underway often. We always keep them clean like the rest of the deck so it’s not really any extra cleaning for us. Just a wet rag or leave them. They’ve worked out really well for our needs and space

      @@SailingJibsea It's definitely one of my faves! Fun story: One of the original Formosa 51s from the movie is moored in of my neighboring marinas. They towed it over to my marina to use the crane here to install the engine. It was sooo tempting to put on an eyepatch, wander over and ask, "Is this here the Harvey boat?"
