    I miss your regular video releases, you show the joy in kayaking in a truly artistic way.

    That skip out at 2:26, and Fusilli’s line at DD at 6:33 are both fantastic. I absolutely love my M Scorch, and at 140lbs it serves me similarly to how you describe the L for you. Wife just got a Small, and she’s also a big fan. I recently bought a Code too, just to try it out, and so far it doesn’t hold a candle to the Scorch. Pyranha hit it out of the park w this design, and props to Dave for driving to make the X happen. I’ve paddled one once and it’s quite a boat! 🏆

    Bren - be honest - you could hollow out a potato and take it down river and still make us all look bad.

    What a awesome looking boat. My first plastic boat was a Microbat and I loved it. I was gutted when i holed it and had to pass it on. Don’t get out on white water at all now unfortunately but I have a Stuntbat as part of my fleet.

    oh man, I can't be watching this stuff >_< my messed up back doesn't need to be tempted by another new sick design. Though this might be the motivation I need to focus on recovery and get back into shape. I've always wanted a Pyranha ever since I saw the Ripper and now doubly-so.

    Pyranha make great boats but let down by poor outfitting

    Such a magic boat. I have a medium Scorch and I’m just as excited to paddle it now as I was when I first got it nearly a year ago. It feels ‘light’ in a way that no other kayak does. I reckon I’ve progressed more in the last year than I have in all my previous years, because of how confidence-inspiring it is. You just know what it’s doing every step of the way because you can feel how the water is interacting with the boat. I love the speed, the edges, the manoeuvrability, the rocket - all of it.

    Crunch time. If you could only have one boat, and the choice was only between the Scorch and the Ripper, which would you choose and why?

    • @Senders
      @Senders  2 года назад +1

      Argh such a hard one! Depends on what sort of rivers but right now I would say the Ripper still if I could only have one kayak but damn the Scorch is sick!

    Interesting what you said about the large model. I assume you would normally paddle the medium size in the earlier boats including the ripper

    • @Senders
      @Senders  2 года назад +4

      I swap back and forwards between sizes a lot. I have used the entire ripper range but find myself in the large a lot of the time, though that’s mostly when it’s being used on pushy stuff!

    Yes indeed regarding your Graham Mackereth intro :) and I bought his 13th Pyranha Vedel slalom boat in 1974 :) He delivered it personally to me in Bedford on top of a small white van (an Astra I think) all the way from Warrington. Great bloke, great boat, great contribution to white water paddling :)

      Oh! Unexpected reply! :) How can any diehard white water slalom paddler not be subscribed here!? The 10ft banana boat looks amazing! I lost 20” off my slalom boat 20 years ago. Maybe it’s about time to lop off another 20” and “go plastic”! Living/paddling here in the Philippines the last ten years. Not so flat as Bedford! lol :) ENJOY :)

    Bren watched this video again after some time with the X I’m wondering what your thoughts are about it now I’ve got a ripper 2 medium and my creeker is a code which is very forgiving but a little bit slow so I’m looking at the X again

    So funny to see the development of whitewater kayaks from the nineties, when I started, where the Eskimo Topolino was the only short creek boat available, and where anything less than 3m long was considered a short boat (My 3m long Eskimo Diablo was considered a "playboat"), to ever shorter boats, like the Pyranha 230 and 240, only to see the length of river runners increase again in this design.
    I'm curious to see what Pyranha's competition is going to do next!
    Of course, the Green Narrows racers still would like to see longer boats! ;-)
    Amazing how many of them went looking everywhere to find old Perception and Prijon kayaks to run the race with!

    as always: since you are involved with the brand and possibly also with the development of the boat i take gripes with you calling it a review. even though i have no doubts you are giving your honest opinion. still i think it is not proper to "review" something you are involved in. thats like a store employee writing the customer reviews or a scientist giving himself a peer reviewed status.
    i'd be happy to see the title be more like the description. its fine if you review your time with the boat. and I dont even know exactly why that tiny technicality change would make it ok to me^^ (probably because i love your channel and want to cut you some slack).
    mh...after watching i now have to say that imo this is not a review. its something different. probably more akin to a testimonial or a straight up advertisement.
    but it also makes me feel like i should maybe buy a scorch next. so good job i guess?^^

      So people are just supposed to spend a bunch of their free time doing really high quality reviews for your sake and get nothing in return? Good luck with that. If a person is transparent about their affiliation with a brand, what should they call their review of a new product? It's still a review. According to your comment they just need to come up with a new word for "reviews by people who have brand affiliations"? I've seen you leave this comment on countless videos, and no one else seems to share the opinion. Get over it, people who are affiliated with brands or paid by brands to do reviews can still do honest reviews. Stop being obnoxious about it.

      @xxxxxx-zy9lu 2 года назад +3

      @@sethezekielwest you don't need a new word, the word you're looking for is advert.

    • @lordofnothing.
      @lordofnothing. 2 года назад +1

      Hey @@sethezekielwest :)
      first of all, they arent making these videos in their "free time" its literally how they make their, at least primary-, living.
      Due to this, this is very much like a shop employee writing the "review" of the product his company sells.
      There inherently is a conflic of interest that needs to be adressed. it's an ethical question. kinda like in school you weren't allowed to grade you own test.
      Furthermore the kayaking industry is always struggling to be taken seriously. and believe me it doesnt help when a company writes their own reviews. it reflects poorly on any company to do that. so i'm pretty sure that it is also in pyranhas interest to not call this a review.
