The film was an Italian production but the animation was done by a North Korean studio, this part of the Italian-Korean collaborations done by Italian company Mondo TV. There's also sequel titled Tentacolino that came out in 2004 and a 2010 television series called Fantasy Island. Yes, really.
Fantasy Island is pure WTF-energy, the kind of series where the studioheads were snorting coke and the new guy brought some experimental shit and created this.

The fact it has "legend" in the title, the fact the crew members look different from real life, and the fact it has a few things, besides the fantasy elements and how it has everybody live, that are different from what really happened (the quartermaster seeing the iceberg instead of a lookout, for example).

They both could have lived! She killed him!" The things is: THEY TRIED THAT!!! When they first get to the door, they try to share it and it starts sinking. There may have been enough room, but they were too heavy. So, Jack, being the gentlemanly type, lets Rose onto the door. He probably figured it would kill him, but there's a chance the boats might come back for them in time, so he's willing to risk it as long as there's a chance Rose could survive. Why do so many people forget that?
Well, these are the same people who miss that the people behind this movie only knew about the James Cameron film, not the real event that inspired it.

Animation dubbing went back to the days of the original Speed Racer where Peter Fernandes only had like 5 days to do an episode's dialogue and make the dubbing fit. He also had to translate the dialogue from Japanese in that span of time too I think.

So, now with the context of Tentacolino and “Fantasy Island” the TVs series I guess Top connors might have gotten a new mortal body from the Atlantean king, because in Tv series/sequel he makes the ghost pirate Francis alive again. Connor’s was immortal but in this movie he’s old that’s my head canon on this.
