It is not crazy, you just didn't read the manual. What you called the "auto mode" is actually designed for hand- fastening torque rated at 35 ft-lb. It is meant for safe fastening and high nut busting.. it is a shame how such a beautiful tool didn't get the appreciation it deserves because of user incompetence
Yep, it did exactly what it was supposed to do in this case.
😱 oh no he didnt read the manual 😭
I work in auto mechanics and had the opportunity to use my friend’s. Absolutely loved it! Took 19mm lugs off like butter and then I proceeded to use it for front suspension work and the tool made THAT a breeze! I bought one within hours of my stimulus check dropping and I’m excited for it to arrive this week!
I use the M18 1/4” hex he has sitting in the video daily. It is one hell of a good tool and was the only compact option a year ago. Can r&r transmissions all day with it.
Stimulus well spent👍🏾
Dude this thing jacked my car up with ease on a scissor jack
JUST bought this at Northern Tool as a late Christmas gift to myself. Can’t wait to use this on suspension work. Thank you for making this video!
Milwaukee is really stepping up the auto mechanic side of things. The fuel impacts and ratchets are a mechanics dream come true. I'm a Camaro/Firebird salvage yard owner and a mechanic and the M18 1/2" high torque is the go too for any rusted on suspension bolts for sure. I also use the M18 1/4" driver with adapters and the M12 stubby 3/8" impact. Those 2 smaller ones disassembles 90% of the car, needing only the high torque for some stubborn lug nuts and suspension bolts.
Love the channel Vince! Always great information and true unbiased content. Love Milwaukee tools for my full time facilities maintenance job. Just switched to the Kobalt XTR line for home use projects based on your videos. Keep it up for us man!! Thanks!!
I bought one after Black Friday, haven’t gotten to use it yet, so I’m glad to see I made a great purchase!!! Your deals and reviews convinced me to leave the Makita brand this year and jump over to Milwaukee. My pocket book hates you, but I love ya!!!! Thanks and keep up the great work!!!
Weve got 14 techs in our service department. Were a John deere Ag dealer so we work on everything from Mowers to cotton pickers. 10 out of the 14 techs all running a mix of the M18 and m12 fuel systems. LEGIT set of tools folks. Great review!
Happy Sunday VCG and all of the gang! Great job!👍🧰👍😍
Vince, your none biased videos are an incredible source of information. I did go PACKOUT for Xmas because of your reviews. ...now, if it didn’t cost so much to switch platforms! (Got all black n yellow stuff)
Thanks for the 7 years of good luck. Needed that lol. Love the channel looking forward to the next video.
Used the older 1/2 impact many times. Massive difference in power between a 5.0, a 9.0 and a 12.0 battery. Currently own the new 1400ft/lb impact from Milwaukee. Killer tool if you've got the room to use it. But this mid torque unit is hugely impressive!
I tested these this weekend. it's a beast!! Took off a 245 lb torque nut with ease!!
I work in the brake shop and those impacts is all we use ! Awesome tools I got half inch m12 stubbe and now 1/2 m18 second gen and it’s perfect for stubborn brakes and suspension nuts👍
Thx for sharing! Hope you all had a great weekend 😊👍🏻🧰🔨🛠🔧
The gen1 mid torque definitely makes more power with the H.O batteries so I'm sure the gen2 will also
I work at a shop. I picked up this Milwaukee mid torque 1/2 inch and we have a DEWALT mid torque, A now broken Makita Mid torque and pneumatic Ingersoll Rand. Anytime the other impacts can’t get the job done they say bust out the Milwaukee And it gets the job done every time. Amazing tool.
Milwaukee has done a very good job in offering very powerful, yet reasonably priced cordless impact wrenches for automotive mechanics, and DIYers out there, making them do away air hoses for their pneumatic air tools.
I got the first gen mid-torque with 1/2" anvil, and it is a beast! Gets me out of sticky situations on my car. I use it alongside my M12 Fuel 1/2" Stubby impact wrench. Tag team champs on my driveway, lol!
I’ve got one of these and love it! It is a beast with the HO batteries.
I have the 1/2” version 3 weeks I haven’t touched my higher torque one since. It literally does everything I needed in an auto shop and the weight of this thing just killed it.
I have started switching to the Milwaukee M12 line for my small tools, started with the 1/4 stubby impact wrench about a month ago. Now I also have the hammer drill and the 3/8 stubby. I don’t know if I can give up on the 20v Dewalt tools I have in the truck though. Never fail me and gets 99% of my work done for me. The 1% that I can’t get usually end up getting the torch treatment.
Ordered one a couple of days ago, can’t wait to try it.
Looking forward to eventually upgrading to these from my weekend warrior Ryobi, just so it can get in those tight spots.
Hi Vince, excellent video ty so much, I’m always impressed with Milwaukee, it’s an excellent tool company and very good warranty, they truly trust their product and so does the public, thx, Bob,
love the M18 and M12 line..great tools..definitely want this impact as well
I have one on order from my local Milwaukee facility...Can't wait. Right now I use a Snap-on battery impact. 1/2 inch and works well. I don't always need the torque rating of this impact so one that has 600 ft. lb. and is so much smaller and lighter will definitely make my life easier.
I got the ½ M18 gen 2 mid torque and I love it!! I have major pain issues and a bad neck and the light weight of this is why I chose this over the high torque! (Besides a close friend of mine has a M18 high torque if I happen to need it)
This impact wrench is insane
Great video ! Happy new year to the gang!
What a great looking impact, very sleek, slim, and gorgeous....DANG! (I’ve gone native 😂😂).
Love that Milwaukee finally went LED on the “nose”.
I love my gen 3 impact driver and hammer drill....but the new gen 4 impact drivers/hammer drills will surely have this styling (if not....well, INCONCEIVABLE 😅), & naturally gonna want, even though my gen 3 tools look/work great. Just hope Milwaukee retires the standard charger and ships all kits w/ Rapid in 2021 (& super charger for the “higher end battery” kits😉).
Hope EVERYONE had a wonderful Christmas & New Year’s Day.
Here’s to a new year....and for it to be awesome one✌🏼
@VCG Construction Mode 4 is "Hand Tightening" mode it stops driving fasteners at 20 ft lbs to avoid over tightening bolts on engines, so you can torque to spec with a torque wrench.
I order the 3/8 and 1/2 and absolutely love them both 🤩🤩
I’ve always been a dewalt guy, thanks to you I’m currently swapping everything to milwaukee, paychecks can’t come fast enough I look forward to my paycheck just so I can buy more
Man that 1/2" is huge! I have an M12 stubby in a 1/2" drive, it's tiny and I use it to do seasonal tire changes on some of my family's and my vehicles. The little devil did everything I threw at it so far. I absolutely love it! It also has the auto-shutoff mode too.
The m12 stubby is a great tool. This wrench is for thoes who need alittle more oomph. Like doing suspension work or some super rusty stuff, as we have up here in Canada. Can't go wrong with the m12 stubby or the m18 mid torque tho, both amazing.
The choices are interesting. I have the M18 3/8 inch stubby because it was cheaper than the M12 3/8 stubby. It's still way lighter than my M18 1400 ft. pound 1/2 inch drive impact.
I live in Germany and Milwaukee Tools are freaking, awesome! This Guys kick so heavy and relayable, thats Impressive!
Love the High Tork impackt, use it every day! And woud never go to another Brand!
Hey Yes It’s very nice. You have fierce competition with several brands. Even Ryobi is ramping up with their cordless and looking similar to another brand. Excellent video
I will get getting this and the 1/2 impact ratchet. I love my m12 1/2 stubby perfect for cara and trucks not to heavy.
Just had this delivered yesterday. Played with it a little bit last night, but yeah - it's the real deal. I don't have any high outputs, but it looks like I may need to pick one up.
Bought the half inch version and I absolutely love it.
The auto mode auto stops torquing at 10ft pounds and when removing after it breaks it loose it slows down so you don’t fling nuts everywhere
We switched from Dewalt 20v to 18v Milwaukee fuel at work(tel com linework) and this 3/8 impact breaks bolts when driving 1/2 lags into utility poles in speed 3. Battery last for weeks even being stored in truck in sub freezing temps. Cant go wrong with Fuel, ordered 12v stuff for lighter work cause this 3/8 impact is a little much for lighter stuff
Yo VCG! I have been looking at impact wrenches. But mainly at he m12 staple gun. I am glad Milwaukee made a smaller impact wrench, more compact. Thanks for the review VCG, now that is something I want to see on TTR impact wrench TTR Milwaukee vs Kobalt!
just buy the dee-walt 12 volt staple gun...oh wait...they dont have one 😂😂
@@kingofthecrease30 lol I have already invested into the m12 line, I am loving m12 so I may as well just get a Milwaukee one, and I am still not a dewalt fan buy 🤣😂 lol
This impact tool is the next one on my list to purchase and definitely seems like a compact yet powerful tool for automotive work
You get it yet?
I just got a Dewalt 20v xr impact and drill/driver combo kit and loving it
Hey pal. Hope you had a Happy New Year. Wishing you prosperity for 2021.
Happy new year to you Larry, thanks buddy! 👍🏻
I have a 3/8 stubby and tbf, i had a Mac 1/2 impact and i find myself using the stubby way more than the Mac.
I find it more productive, more compact, easier to handle instead of fumbling a massive behemoth around onto a fastener. That, and it's more fun to use.
I haven't even gotten an m18, or a m18 1/2 yet
Just picked this up yesterday did the brakes and rotated the tires on fiancées car tons of power ! And so compact
That’s a helluva tool that’s for sure damn dewalt is going to have to come back with something or their going to get left behind!
Just got the Fuel impact and hammer drill set with the 5AH batteries from work, both batteries came fully charged.
Just subbed and notified today im loving the content man keep it up!!!
Remember to upvote for 7 years of good luck!
that 3/8 is about to be my after Christmas present to myself. the price with the case and package is hard to beat
As a auto tech of 5 yrs i stick with Milwaukee like you said its compact hits hard and the price is right ! As a young mechanic these impacts are a great option
I can hear a difference, I haven’t received mine yet tho I ordered mine in 1/2, and ordered the 6.0 I never tried other brands but I start with the 1/2 big boy and never lets me down being a excavator operator but the weight, sucks changing tandem tires with it lol
I thank I see a change coming. Thanks
You just sold me my new Brand of future tools to me....All the way from Australia..Sydney....thanks mate
Great review brother.
Much appreciated
Yea baby! I use the Milwaukee mid torque to rotate tires!
@vcgconstruction can’t wait for the next gen high torque with tri Led lights!!
That will be my next purchase❤
This and a grease gun
What does that mean
We use two of the 1/2 inch drive torque wrench guns in the auto repair shop I work at , and there are about 6 other torque wrenches from snap on mac and matco that are all sitting collecting dust since the milwaukee's came in the shop
Just bought mine Aldo have my stubby very happy
Just bought one yesterday to break loose a stubborn crank pulley bolt. Fricking got er done so quickly in only mode 2 + .no removal of radiator required
Nice demonstration @vcgconstruction
I just got my self the 3/8 models to remove skid plates on nissan titans....and got the 1/2 model for removal of tires for tire rotations....use both tools full-time as a expresslane lube tech
im surprised they ship a single tool with 2 batteries....usually its only 1 battery & charger. I been using my Ridgid mid torque 1/2 inch impact wrench...450 ft lbs torque but with an octane battery it gets bumped up to 485...good enough for what i use it for.
This mid torque is lit, perfect balance between compact tool and power. And does the tool runs faster on HO batteries? I dunno maybe if pushing it to the limit the HO have the benefit to sustain higher loads than the normal battery.
Nice!.. looking to replace my 3/8 snap on
Happy New Year Vince! You have the kareem abdul jabbar look going on with those glasses!😎😎😎
Triple LEDs are much like DeWalts XR impact drivers. IMO it illuminates the work area better and doesn’t let attachments create shadows like the single LED does.
Thanks for 7 years of good luck Vince. 👍
I use all brands I find they all have there place, but this tool is amazing compared to my old favorite.
I've been waiting for this one, although I would like to see what you'd recommend for an impact socket set to pair it with. Either the 3/8 or 1/2 version
Sunex makes great impact sockets.
@@jeremydawkins8399 Never heard of the brand, but i'll check it out. my father always had either Mac or Craftsman, but it seems there's more options nowadays. thanks
I’ve been debating on getting the m18 fuel mid torque but the new xtd118 mid torque from makita has me wanting it. I like all the different modes the makita has. And the 1/2in versions are both the same price.
just ordered it to use for smaller and less tight bolts inside the engine bay and such. just thought about how i was going to replace the harmonic balancer and i might as well give it a try... if not i've got a trick lol
@VCG Construction Can we get some Ryobi HP sneak peaks? 1/2” impact wrench maybe??
Oh great! Another tool I think I need. How does the 1/4" compare to the 3/8" side by side?
The 4th setting is only for removing so nothing strips out I use the 4th mode when removing certain bolt on vehicles that are screwed into aluminum
lets gooooooooo good luck baby!
I love my Dewalt 3/8” impact wrench.
Thanks bro
I just bought the high tq for working on my vehicles and I'm wondering if I really need it and get this mid tq. Decisions
I just picked up Makita's XWT14Z at Home Depot for $176.71 out the door. I also picked up the 36-Volt brushless circular saw kit with four 5.0Ah batteries and a dual-port charger for 268.30 out the door. I figured that the batteries alone are worth it, making the 36-Volt saw and dual-port batteries charger free.
The total was 445.01 out the door for a 1/2" impact drive, four 5.0Ah batteries, 36-Volt circular saw, and two-port batteries charger. However, I was looking at the 18-volt 5.0 Ah battery starter pack for 214.42 out the door, but that would have only given me three batteries and a single port battery charge instead of a dual-port charger. I figured the extra fifty-three dollars and eight-eight cents of the kit mentioned above was worth it.
Just got 7 years good luck.
Cheers Vince
I AM a professional diesel mechanic and I use Milwaukee impacts all the time. Also have snap on 3/8 and 1/2 in air impacts in case all my batteries are dead.
I love my new midtorque. I almost dont need to break out the high torque anymore. I pull transmissions all day long...
Usually I use a stubby if I can’t get it off with that. I “try” my mid torque, though %75 of the time it won’t either. Then i go high torque....then 3/4” and now I’ll jump to 1” D handle. .
Speed 4 tightening is so you do break or overtorque the bolt.
I love it!!
What up Bush, happy new year to you and yours!
keep it up man! you are funny af!
3/8" at 600 ft-lbs of nut busting torque (2960-20) or 1/2" at 650 lbs/ft of nut busting torque (2962-20)
Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out, question is do u tighten with the impact on 3 or 2?!
The 3/8 Fuel is 250 ft lb of nut busting torque... Where did 600 come from?
@@allaboutroofing2 not the second generation mid torque.
@@ad636051 👍
@@ad636051 Just to add I figured that out fairly quickly but don't typically go back and edit my prior comments.
Great video you guys
Nice work on the video vince @vcgconstruction
I hears a difference! Imma buy it.
Definitely heard a difference between the High Output and standers under load. Not that surprising as the standard is only capable of 50 amps while the HO is capable of 70 amps.
I have the 3/8 m12 stubby. Do you think the mid torque offers that much more power?
Just found one of these on Facebook for sale with a xc5.0 battery both brand new for $125 I turned around sold the battery for 70 bucks lol so ended up paying $55 dollars for this new impact im excited!!!
Yea
I'm thinking that the auto mode is to stop you from over tightening lug nuts, sending you the torque wrench to finish the job.
Yes, I heard a difference with the 8.0.
RIGHT NOW I HAVE A DEWALT IMPACT WRENCH, I'M THINKING OF SWITCHING TO THE MILWAUKEE M18 FUEL WRENCH 2980-22. THWT MIILWAUKEE 2966-22 GOT MY VOTE. I'M SOLD . THANKS FOR THE VIDEO . HAPPY A HEALTHY NEW YEAR. YOUR THE MEN. THANKS. GOD BLESS
Honestly thought I could hear a difference in the two batteries.. do they do it in a 1/2 inch
I wish someone woud ask milwaukee if their making a gen 3 high Impacts this year or soon including 3/4 and actually get an answer
Best tool ever I own a few
