I’ve never actually stopped to go through the steps like that but now that you say it I pretty much do all the same things except I can’t turn 90 I have to focus on the opponents wheels and judge like that.
Sometimes it's impossible to use turn 90 (such as a huge ET difference) But when the two ETs are close I feel like it's the most accurate way to drive the stripe 👍
Been watching your videos for years now and feel I know you and your fam. Saw you racing at I 30 raceway 4/10/21 and the car looks great. I wanted to come and say hi but did not want to bother you, maybe next time.
its funny you say dont watch that old vid cuz thats one of the first vids i watched on your channel the other day and now i cant stop watching you lmao
I’ve tried to watch the stage lights but to be honest I’m good at it. I’ve been practicing when I’m watching races but in the car I haven’t been able to get to that level yet. And I wear a regular neck collar and it doesn’t restrict my ability to look over 👍👍
This may sound dumb, but I have a bad habit of looking for my win light as I cross the stripe. (Like it is really gonna help me win if I am looking at the win light as soon as it comes on 🙄). I definitely need to practice watching my opponent as I cross, rather than taking my eyes off of them.
@@GallStarTV I’m in a 6.40 (1/8mi) S10. A couple of tracks I race at are 1/8mile and the only win light I can see is on the wall past the scoreboard. However I also race 1/8 mile at a 1/4 mile track where I have plenty of time to read the scoreboard and still catch myself doing this. So it’s just a bad habit.
I’m getting chased 98% of the time. We turn way more than 90 hahaha Honestly, when I’m racing a dragster I’m looking constantly and then making a last minute decision at the MPH cone.
Yeah I would say different ETs would yield much different finish line rhythms for sure. A slower car you would probably look way more times. Principle remains though, you want to make sure you have the right rhythm to lock onto your opponent through the traps 🤘
My dad drives a 4.40 car and he just looks at the opponent the whole time tbh . He may take a glimpse in front of his car but 90% of the time he’s looking at the other car
@@GallStarTV I was eating dinner so I wasn't really looking at my phone when it first came out, these young guns are beating me to the punch and it ain't happening again 🤣
Tom, you always put a ton of effort into your vids, and it shows. Keep up the great work!
The old “Turn90” video changed my life! 😁
And the shaking began.. 🤘😂
Great video. There is a lot of good information in your video. I enjoy videos like this and can’t wait to see more.
Thanks Jerry I appreciate it! More on the way!

I have struggled to make the 90 method work. Going to try it again after this video.

I believe you actually saw #teamGALLSTAR driver Rocky McLain II and YES!! His car is sweeeeeeeet 🤘
its funny you say dont watch that old vid cuz thats one of the first vids i watched on your channel the other day and now i cant stop watching you lmao
Good one Tom. I always try to be looking across the other cars windshield at the stripe.
Same! 🤘
Fantastic video. Keep them coming.
Love the info in the video, would like to hear about what goes into dialing your car. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Billy!! I appreciate the feedback very much. I’ll be working on getting that video together soon!
Good stuff Tom !!!
“Turn 90” is the method ive always used.
Hey buddy! Took me a min to realize this was your sponsor!
Thanks for the advice. I am interested in how you decide to dial in.
That video coming soon!!
What about the “Turn 167* Door Car” look?? Not to mention the gotta find the win light in the other lane while going through the trap. 😂
It’s been a long time since I wheeled a door car.. but I know I was looking out the rear window just as much as the front!! 🤣
Excellent info. When is yall's first race?
Hope to be at a race track by the end of April 🤞
Tom two questions. First do you watch the stage lights when you leave to see who left first? And second can you "turn" 90 degrees in a neck restraint?
I’ve tried to watch the stage lights but to be honest I’m good at it. I’ve been practicing when I’m watching races but in the car I haven’t been able to get to that level yet.
And I wear a regular neck collar and it doesn’t restrict my ability to look over 👍👍
Do more of these, do one from the faster car perspective
Sounds like a great idea!! 👍👍
The turn90 change bracket race for me and my friend
This may sound dumb, but I have a bad habit of looking for my win light as I cross the stripe. (Like it is really gonna help me win if I am looking at the win light as soon as it comes on 🙄). I definitely need to practice watching my opponent as I cross, rather than taking my eyes off of them.
Is your win light really tight to the stripe? Do you not have enough time to see it or is it just a bad habit?

Now that would be some backwards drivin! 😁😁
Thank you tom

I use this new invention called a mirror. Lol
😂🤦🏻♂️. I should mount some huge mirrors on the side of the cage, like those round school bus mirrors 😆
When you turn 90deg what are you looking at?
Whatever is in that 90* line of sight. Hopefully it’s about the opponents windshield when we cross the finish haha
Dial it honest and don't lift let my opponent decide what to do
ok boomer
That's one way! 😁
@@jimmyjones2462 I've been doing this for Roughly 50 years yes I am old but I've still got it☺
