- So, it’s finally here! The 2nd episode in the Body Shape Master Class series and this week we’re with the lovely Delia who is a combination of both the strawberry and apple shape, but she hasn’t got the stereo typical extra slim hips, but she has got incredibly slim legs from the thighs downwards. So, what do you do when don’t fit any of the descriptions out there on the internet? Simple…. you just try and re-create the hourglass figure as best you can. You highlight her good parts; disguise the bits she doesn’t like, and you broaden where you need to in order to balance the figure out.

What a fabulous tutorial, it took me three days to watch it through the first time, I had to keep running into my dressing room and seeing if my skinny's made my legs look that bad, yes, and when she put on the bell bottoms I had to order myself some right away. This channel is truly the best content I’ve come across on RUclips which gives actual, practical advice on dressing for your body type. The sleeve that looked good on the model had a cowl neck - and that was a raglan sleeve. Starts from the neck, no on-shoulder seam.
Dolman sleeves are the ones that are super wide and basically connect to the rib or waist area (accentuating the chest's bulk on big-busted women). The other sweater dress had, I believe, what is called a drop shoulder (a bigger sleeve with a horizontal seam at the mid upper arm). They also make large chests look larger.
This is my single favorite video of yours, as I have a very similar, though smaller, version. Everything you did improved on nature! Using a model of each type or type-mix and doing before-after video makes the point perfectly! Thank you for this one in particular.

@@mmpersonalstyling Thanks! I'm 5'6 and in mid fifties but still trying to be fashionable. Back in my younger days I never knew anything about body types...now I'm older, gained weight and menopause so my entire body changed. So I still don't know exactly which body type I am. I guess I'll do the tape measuring and see if that helps. I don't have wide hips but I do still have a booty that's very visible from a Side view..lol. Looking forward to seeing more ladies though!! 😊❤️

You always say to show the ankle with trousers. Growing up we called these “high water britches” and I never thought I would get any. Went to the shops today and came home with a pair. Excellent video. Delia and I have very similar measurements, so I was delighted to see this. I wouldn't say she's an apple or a strawberry (a new term for me), but rather is a soft rectangle, or athletic type (who is no longer 20) with her strong shoulders. As someone with the same body, I find these terms more helpful and accurate. I love the sharply tailored blazers with padding that extends rather than raise the shoulders, but I think the shoulder pads in some things shortens her lovely neck, which is not a great look. (I put shoulder pads attached to bra straps under everything in the 80s. It was a mistake. Clearly, I've been dressing this shape for a long time ;) The denim dress is terrific, as are the blazers, but rather than using anything to cinch her waist, why not just have a fabric that is less clingy. I'd rather my clothes make me feel good, than rely on a shape wear garment which immediately makes me feel there is something to hide. The horizontal striped top - no, not for her, not for me. Delia's upper body and arms look much bigger than they are in that top with all her natural angles obscured. She is lost in it - her upper body suddenly is a strawberry. A more classic Breton would be better with a sharp boat neck, a classic shoulder seam, a more substantial weave, and a slimmer shape. More structure in the tops, like the blazers and the denim dress, is most flattering on me, and I can see it also is on Delia. Thanks so much for demonstrating this! The belt over the dress was perfection, along with the nude tone shoes.
