What a beautiful client to style! I saw how the littlest changes really made her outfit look better--esp in her own rose/brown sheer dress. And your modern casual rail outfits were perfect and really elevated her style to today's modern look. It's hard for some of us to see how dated our clothes are until we see how you re-style the savable ones and show us options that make us realize some are too outdated to save. I'm the same age as Sharon and have some of the same pieces--this video helped me soo much! You really are a master at your craft, Melissa & team!! I hope you can do more of these video sessions in clients' homes in the future!!

Mesmerized ! Not too long at all… I would’ve watched a part two also! My most interesting take away it’s so much easier to see what needs to be culled, when you see the comparison between clothing you’ve selected for Sharon. Vs her closet. Your selections are more figure flattering, youthful and vibrant. The blazer comparison really hit home… bravo Melissa and Sharon as well.

Probably your best video yet Melissa. So nice of Sharon to let us in a see "a real womans wardrobe". She looks ah-ma-zing. I'm the same age but look a lot older than her. My wardrobe looks a lot like Sharons, too many patterened clothes and you've inspired me to get rid of a lot of them after watching this.
I'm about to move house and country before the summer so am really trying to have a clear out before the move as I will be downsizing to a smaller house, so this video was the incentive I needed to let to of stuff I've hung on to for years and focus on more stylish modern pieces as I have a fresh start. I have been through a lot these past 10 years with a divorce and the death of my daughter 3 years ago and I really need to find myself again and move forward.
Thanks for everything you do, you really do help more people than you will ever know.

I always learn so much from watching your videos!! I am in the process of going through my clothing now (out with winter in with spring/summer in the Boston, MA USA area) and I will be looking over my pieces with new criteria. I have waaay too many clothes that I don't wear. Even if they fit well and are flattering, I am always missing the piece to make it an outfit. Thanks to Sharon for being so open and allowing us into her closet and thanks you, Melissa, for helping us all feel better about our wardrobe and how we can feel in it and make it work for so many occasions!!

Sharon was so generous to let her session be filmed. I always learn so much and I am guilty of so many of the same things! Learning to like myself in block colors has been hard but enjoyable, it’s so much easier to get dressed and feel put together. After watching this I have ordered some light colored shoes, I have too many black shoes, and love the way the light colored shoe lengthens any look!

I've only found your channel a few days ago and have learned more in these few days than I have in 10 years of trying to learn about style.
However, I am now extremely distracted when I'm out and about, scrolling social media or even watching TV because I'm analyzing what everyone should be wearing! 😂 I feel like I can even tell what complete strangers are insecure about based on how they are trying to cover themselves up rather than create an hourglass!
I'm CERTAINLY no expert, so I can't even imagine how you feel.
It's a complete change, and I refer back to the episodes featuring my body shape as I'm decluttering my wardrobe.
All of that blabbering to say, your work is truly life changing. I'm excited to dress myself now.
Thanks from South Carolina, USA!!! ❤

❤loved this video but we need a Part 2!!! Id love to see how Sharon's wardrobe looks now it has been decluttered and hopefully has a few new additions namely the gorgeous mid blue dress (Sensational Sharon ❤) the John Lewis navy blue dress, the blue jumpsuit and the pink top.
I think it would incentivise viewers further to see the organised closet and the size of clothing bags being donated to charity 😊 Well done Melissa, Sarah and Sharon. Make this a regular series please ❤

    • @mmpersonalstyling
      @mmpersonalstyling  17 дней назад +1

It was over 5 hours worth of filming and people simply wouldn’t have watched all of that so we had to make a judgement call as to what bits showed the best learning. I can tell you there was a very large charity pile and all you missed was her saying ‘yes, let’s get rid of that’ (several times over)!!!!

I think the biggest 'secret' in clearing out the wardrobe, is to actually try everything on....if you try it on and really look at yourself, it makes you decide if you still like it or not. Lovely and interesting session again Melissa, I learn more from your shows every time ❤❤

Agreed. Also, as pretty as an organized closet looks, I sometimes stumble across great pairings when I hang things in a different order. By color for a couple of months, then sort by style the next season, then by item (all jackets together, all skirts, etc.).

Thank you, Melissa, Sharon and Sarah. This was such an enjoyable video. The use of bright colours on Sharon worked so well, really suited her colouring, and shows how you can elevate your styling. The blue and floral pink dresses were fabulous. It would be nice to own both but agree with Sharon that there may be limited opportunities to wear the floral dress (although Sharon could use it to make some opportunities perhaps - Ascot or a race day, dinner on holiday in South of France, Wimbledon, cocktails and lunch with girlfriends in a city restaurant, birthday dinners etc). A hard but lovely dilemma to have. I was reminded of Melissa’s tips when watching a 1940s based film, they knew how to wear tailored dresses and look great (whatever their shape and size) - v necks, shoulder detail, shoulder pads, nipped in waists, beautiful draped fabrics. I’m off to the clothes bank and charity shops today following your inspiration 😂

I relate to her thinking regarding mixing casual with smart…..I can never seem to feel comfortable doing that also. I think it’s due to our being raised having “play clothes”, “ school clothes” and “ church clothes”. We were not cultured to mix things….probably because there was no money so we had limited choices in each group.

OMG! I have been watching this channel for a couple of years now. I love everything Melissa does. She and her team are beyond talented. I have been too shy to comment until today. But after seeing Sharon's transformation, I feel compelled to post my first comment. She is gorgeous! And all of the outfits are beautiful on her. I know it can be difficult to choose so here are my favourites: The pink floral dress is a stunner for the wedding! She looks amazing! (The thing about a beautiful dress is that sometimes it creates more occasions to be worn. Kinda like "if you build it, they will come!") The blue is also gorgeous. The colour is so good on her. I would get both! If that's too many dresses, then she should get the blue jumpsuit. She will definitely get wear out of that. The jackets were all great on her. I especially liked the beige blazer and the dark with gold buttons. The casual jackets with drawstring waists were also great for casual days. These jackets make her look so much younger and more stylish. Such a transformation! The shoes, bags and accessories also do miracles to modernise her look. Some great learnings for us all in here! Thanks for creating these videos and sharing your pearls of wisdom.

I really enjoyed this! The lady's work wardrobe was similar to mine before I started watching your channel, lots of black trousers and patterned/coloured tops. They have gradually been culled and I now have lots of neutrals (so much easier to get ready each day) and only a small amount of stripes/polka dots as far as pattern goes. I'm 57 and I feel so much more current for work now and I work with much younger staff so it is confidence boosting.

I’m definitely guilty of hanging on to outdated items, which leaves my wardrobe CRAMMED with clothes and leaves me with “NOTHING” to wear! Those items I haven’t had my wear out of/feel I’ve got value for my money from are particularly hard to let go of because of the guilt I attach to them. Think it’s about time to leave my mistakes behind and move forward following Melissa’s guidelines 🥰!

Re the work clothes versus home life, I don't wear a uniform but I'm in people's houses and animal/ smoking/ hygiene aroma means there is no way I'll wear my home or social clothes for work, so I migrate things that I am bored with, and once worn for work they can never migrate back. I really enjoyed watching this! It has inspired me to go through my own wardrobe and do some culling, as we move from Autumn into Winter. Am definitely going to find a lovely cream boot to refresh my outfits and will step away from the black boots!

Absolutely brilliant video. My number 1 takeaway from this video is to forget about the patterns & incorporate more neutral block colours. Also, the style of footwear makes such a difference. A big thumbs-up 👍 I’ve learned SO much. Sharon is a beautiful lady & her “look” is now very youthful. 😊

Really enjoyed this format! Suddenly everything felt really real and I can see I need to cull much of my patterned tops! Please do another of these videos - it was even more informative than your usual format. Thank you for all the advice and tips!

It was so fabulous to see the jackets on as opposed to the jackets...loved the bomber jacket on her. Gr8 to see shoe examples & I'm not surprised you are busy as you really offer a wonderful service. Really enjoyed the video, thank you

That blue jumpsuit looks amazing on Sharon!!! And that pink sweater outfit was fantastic. Melissa is just so good at what she does. Loved seeing this process so much! Sharon, thank you for sharing this.
P.S. The bit with the five pairs of leather trousers made me laugh. 😊

This was FANTASTIC! Thank you, Melissa, and a special thanks to Sharon also. Many thought-provoking ideas with my own wardrobe. As I continue to learn from your videos, I continue to reduce OR style my existing (scarce) wardrobe. But it also continues to help me plan ahead for replacement and additional pieces. So endless thanks!

Omgoodness! I just found your channel today, and I have ALREADY learned so much! Thank you Sharon for being the beautiful model in this video. My jaw dropped when Sharon had that pink floral dress on. If it were my daughter’s wedding I would DEFINITELY have purchased that one, although I do understand if Sharon doesn’t have times where she could wear it more, it is ( I’m sure) not an inexpensive dress. Everything that you had Sharon it, looked wonderful. Is it possible to do a part 2 to this video? You have found yourself a new subscriber….i LOVED this video! Thank you for all of the tips.😊🇨🇦

So much more instructive than just filming in your studio or the shops. The dark blue John Lewis dress would be perfect for a wedding and many other occasions.

This is such an interesting video, i am surprised there are no more likes! I would have pressed love if i could. It's interesting to see someone's wardrobe and learn why certain items do or don't work and how you can match items. Where someone sometimes goes for a certain style or match items out of habit, it can look so much nicer paired differently or with slight changes such as shoulderpads or a belt, different fabrics and cuts. The client looked absolutely stunning in the items shown! And it's nice to see that also lifestyle has been taken into account. Not just oh this looks pretty but also will she wear it often? In the end everything has its price and you need to get the wear out of everything too :) Thank you very much for this educational video and i hope more will follow.

That was such a great video Melissa, I was so surprised she didn’t like the linen trench coat, I thought it looked fab , just goes to show !
As for her short “corporate” jacket I agree it looked dated , it reminded me of Teresa May’s style when she was PM

Very fun to watch…she was lovely and you made some brilliant points that we can all learn from! Especially that sleeveless top at the end. It was nice looking - but for all the reasons you stated - it wasn’t ideal. Well done and keep them coming please!
