  • Join me as I go for my first ride on this Z900RS 50th Anniversary edition (2022 model). Should be interesting, I had a brand new Z900RS in 2018 and it tried to kill me!
I ended up returning it to Kawasaki and getting a refund, so hopefully this experience is a little better.
If it goes as good as it looks then we should be very happy indeed. The great roads of Wales are a fantastic place to try it.

I've been riding the RS for five years. Currently 43,000 km. Would buy the motorcycle again.

Lovely! My father rode the original back in the 70s and I'm trying to convince him to get one of these.

I had a similar stalling problem with a bike which I've now owned for just over nineteen years. It turned out to be a corroded HT lead, the copper wires having actually gone green. Changed the coils for a pair of all but new ones I got cheap on eBay and have had no such issues since. It could have been as deadly as you said. Once, I had a pal on the pillion and it stalled right in the face of oncoming traffic as I pulled out from a junction. I too had gone the remap, TRE, Power Commander, air filter and less restrictive exhaust cans, thinking that perhaps the nannying EU lean low end fuelling may have been the root cause, but I have no regrets about these measures, as the bike is much smoother {being a 1000cc V twin} and gives an over 5 MPG economy boost, when ridden normally, i.e., not flat out ! I didn't buy the bike new, but from a guy in Burnley in 2005, else I'd also likely have wanted a refund for reasons of safety.

      Interesting👍
Yes it was proper scary tbh, on the final occasion I was turning right at a junction as I committed to the turn it died! Luckily the oncoming traffic was being observant.
The dealer claimed it was the way I was riding it, hence going direct to Kawasaki and getting my money back.

@@mattbikes46 I'm glad that Kawasaki did the decent thing for you. I've been riding since I was 16, having passed my test in 1974. Incidents like these could surely cause more inexperienced riders to panic. I had several stalls when it was easy to pull in to the left, switch off the ignition and restart but other circumstances can easily lead to a tragic outcome, regardless of coolheadedness.
All the best to you, from Burry Port 15 miles west of Swansea.

You’re right about the experience paying off👍
You’re not a million miles from us then, lovely roads in west wales. Ride safe.

Love the z900rs. Am an older rider getting back into it after many years so don't know know if it would be wise to get one yet. What do you think about them for a newer rider. At the moment riding a royal enfield interceptor which I'm really enjoying.
    Great bike, great channel 🏍👍

      Thanks for watching👍
I think you’d be fine with it, it’s really neutral and easy to ride. Power delivery isn’t threatening, so you can ride as fast or slow as you want.
Prob the biggest difference will be the size and weight, although it carries it’s weight well…once moving feels nimble.
Try and get a test ride, be real interested to see what you think👍

I've always had the opinion that this "retro" thing is simply manufacturers cashing in on a once iconic bike, the best example being the BSA (Not a BSA) goldstar. The first time I saw this gorgeous work of art it took me a nanosecond to change my mind. I wouldn't even care if it had the performance of a puch maxi!

And that sums up motorcycles, it’s an emotional purchase unlike a car which is far more functional👍 once you’ve fallen in love that’s the purchase done!

Nice bike , Matt . Smart colour scheme 😎... Must admit this is the retro thats down as a possible purchase in the future.

Thanks Mark, in the sun the colour really pops the photos and video really don’t do it justice.
Strongly suggest taking one for a test ride, but be prepared for the purchase that’s likely to lead too😂

Can anyone explain to me the reason behind the comedically large gap between the rear wheel and the rear mudguard?
I just don't understand the reason for the huge space.

    • @mattbikes46
      @mattbikes46  2 дня назад +1

I think the problem is all the ancillary bits like the mudguards are added after the designer has done their thing. You see it often, rear mudguards just make lovely bikes look a mess!
However, it’s gone as I’ve fitted a tail tidy!
