I always put a lock on the rear wheel. If they pick up the front wheel because it has a disc lock on it, they can move it in a straight line but if the back is locked and they pick it up, if the steering lock is on its difficult to move it in a straight line, even if they break the steering lock it will still flop from right to left so makeing it harder to move especially trying to get it up a ramp.

Lock the back wheel, it's pretty hard to drag a bike with a locked up rear wheel. If the front wheel is locked, two blokes can pick the front end up and wheel the bike away.
It takes three to steal the bike. A cross bar is put through the front wheel where two can lift the front of the bike. The third stands behind the bike to steady it, then its rolled up the ramp. The 'oily' rag was a damp rag for wrapping around the alarm to half its volume. I saw a video once of this. People have been made more aware of cordless grinders in recent years, so they tend to avoid this in busy areas. However, if you place a disc lock on the rear disc, this makes it much harder to steal, in the above way. Hats off to the biker who walked out of Sainsbury's !

Hallo Willie. I saw Mindful Motorcyclist's video about the dealers and I commented on there about J W Groombridge closing down. I don't think they went into administration but the owner cited several reasons for closing the business. The owner, Keith O Reagan put a post on the dealer's Facebook page giving his reasons for closing as I've said and a farewell message to clients and friends of the dealership. Hope you are in a better frame of mind after your scare with the bike thieves and I look forward to more Rob stories. Steering locks are usually easy to break. I think that’s about as close as you can come to losing a bike without actually losing a bike. And one of the worst aspects to recent hurricanes in the US is that our government agencies are in complete disarray. They actually sent three pallets of electric chainsaws to a community that still doesn’t have power.
Dealers disappearing is nothing new Willie. Who remembers mega bike dealer Carnells? Multi brand, pile 'em high sell 'em cheap, they were huge. In the 1990s they had loads of branches and 10% of all bike sales. Take overs and splitting their car and bike arms led to a brief run as Riossi and then they were gone by early 2000s, if I recall correctly. True they didn't go bust as such, but the branches were sold off or closed. It goes to show, you can never be too big to fail.

25 years riding motorcycles in the Theft Capital of the World (Miami FL) the trick is you never ever leave your motorcycle out of your sight, I have wheeled it thru stores if necessary!! 😅
It's sad because I used to leave mine in central London overnight with nothing more than a U-lock years ago. Now I don't leave a bike here in a rural area, which kills the convenience of a bike to do errands. Stealing them and stripping them for parts, or to be sold overseas is a huge industry and thieves treat it as a regular job.
They were closed at the weekend and opened again on Monday. Some people have managed to get their bikes, although others are def struggling. Think they were closed again yesterday, so could be imminent… Rumours that some of the smaller dealers they brought out maybe sold off. This isn’t just Completely Motorbikes it’s Completely Motoring - so cars as well. Some have suggested it’s the car side of the business that’s caused the issues…guess time will tell. Terrible situation for customers, staff etc.

Yep I'm pretty sure they must have clocked me as I came into the carpark ..I've ridden off with the disc lock attached before! 🙈
you need to get a lite lock
I have one! And actually had it on me buy because I had nothing to attach it to I didn't use it....but they are a great bit of kit 👍
Disc locks front and back wheel - for defo. And when its parked in your garage take the front wheel spindle out and take it inside the house with the front wheel if you can be bothered. Hassle I know but well worth it. Difficult if you are a daily commuter though.
Thanks Del 👍 definitely going to get one for the rear
Glad you got back to your bike before those b----rds did . Also be carefull how you film your bike from your home , a freind of mine showed his off road bikes at his property a few years ago they where gone next day they came across a back field .
so its a pain if you live in london or out in the sticks . Any way well done .
Yes great point mate 👍 I am very aware that due to certain videos it would be relatively easy to work out where I live... with that in mind I have a camera and 2 alarms in my Garage!
Car and bike dealerships are closing all around the US. Slowing economy and high interest rates.
Best to get a GPS tracker hidden on your bike. Even an Apple air tag is useful.
Yes I've actually been googling them 👍
Very close call. Hopefully, we'll. I was going to say hopefully the police will eventually get them, but as we know, that won't stop them or happen as they probably steal to order then bugger off back across the channel.
Yep sadly I think yr right bud 😕
Woah bougie new setup! 😊
😂😂😂
Perhaps always have a body-cam working on you!
Yep! Or don't leave my bike in a London Supermarket carpark!
@@2wheeledwillie395 I left my bike for an hour in the capital midday with the keys on the seat, in error! When I got back, I realised what a prat I am, not for the first time, for everything was fine and no surprise, but then I do reside on the IOM!😁
@@drdoolittle5724I think we’ve all messed up like that. I remember panicking because I thought I’d lost my keys when leaving work late at night as a youngster. I hadn’t, I’d just left them in the ignition 😮 ironically the bike didn’t get nicked that night but whilst chained to a metal post it did get nicked a few months later! 😮😢
Sorry to hear you nearly had your bike nicked Willie so many scumbags around these days? And you remained calm good on ya. I think I would have lost it and made matters much worse
Thanks Alan 👍
Friggin scum! So pleased that you came back to your bike when you did mate. Well done, and nicely managed. I fear I would have kicked off resulting in more trouble!
Re Milton, yep, we are generally v lucky in this country with our weather, although of course, we take it for granted and just complain about the rain. 😂
Well done,
Webbo
Thanks Webbo! 👍
Get a disc lock for the back too
Yes someone else suggested that and I definitely will 👍
England is finished
Not all of England buddy! Where we are in Suffolk is amazing still! 👍
Amazes me why folk are still buying new bikes, they are well expensive, a mate just bought an all singing and dancing GS Adventurer in as new condition for 5 grand.. baffles me why folk are still buying this new Stuff, especially from dealers, there are some cracking Bikes on ebay.. at decent prices
Somebody has to buy new for you to be able to buy used at some point.
@@steve-harveyy Wow!
Just think how awful it would have been if you had a decent bike parked at Sainsbury’s and it was nicked!! Only joking. Lucky escape!
😂😂😂
buddy, what a very different video this could have been.... well with what happened , there is some absolute scum about buddy, well someone was looking after the bike for you pal , maybe this is a keeper after all 😃😃😃
It IS a keeper!! ...unless somebody nicks it!!😂
I've said it before. Your Steven Seagals doppelganger !👊. I bet he shit himself when he realized who you were 😆 🤣 😂. Gee mate you where so lucky. 🙏
😂😂😂😂
Sheffield has lost its two largest dealerships this year. Only Manhattan, a Royal Enfield dealership remains open.
Yeah that's so sad 😞
PH in Crawley has just gone down as well.
Yeah I heard that...very sad 😔
Apart from Ipswich you are pretty safe in Suffolk.
I don't take my bike into Ipswich!
Haha! Thanks for the tip David! 👍
Sounds like you instinct is still working,a close shave indeed.
Thanks Gerry, yep think I was very lucky 🙏
25 years riding motorcycles in the Theft Capital of the World (Miami FL) the trick is you never ever leave your motorcycle out of your sight, I have wheeled it thru stores if necessary!! 😅
It's sad because I used to leave mine in central London overnight with nothing more than a U-lock years ago. Now I don't leave a bike here in a rural area, which kills the convenience of a bike to do errands. Stealing them and stripping them for parts, or to be sold overseas is a huge industry and thieves treat it as a regular job.
Completely Motorbikes haven’t gone into Administration yet…
Really? But all their Dealers are closed so I'm guessing it's imminent
@mattbikes46 yeah absolutely awful for the staff and the customers waiting on their bikes ...thanks Matt 👍
Looks they went into administration yesterday👎 post of their FB page saying they’re looking for a buyer.
An absolutely shite disc lock by the looks of it. Get a decent steel one, or better still two.
Lol ...shite it may be but it served its purpose...if it hadn't been on there the bike would have already been in the van
Close call...
Yeah it really was!
The world changed the day Aldi and Lidl started selling battery powered angle grinders !
😂😂😂
6 Motorbikes were stolen in Letchworth on the 12th October.
Really?? That's awful!! Makes you scared to leave yr bike anywhere 😡
Normal 3rd world uk...😂
