Yes I agree, don't like this color at all ,the color would be much better gloss black and silver, matte black wasn't a fashion statement in the 70s it was a sign of not having the money to finish ur paint job lol
That matte color is much nicer than being really shiny, the gold rims and suspension goes well with that color. The power to weight ratio of that bike means it will haul butt.
Amazing bike! I researched/shopped for a year before deciding step up from my Vulcan S to the RS SE. IMO, the Brembo and Ohlins upgrades are worth the extra $1,500. It's a sport bike with an upright seating position; so comfortable! My one (very small) con: I do wish it had cruise control. Great post Ray! Thanks!
Kawasaki, what have you done with the colour. I had a 24 se in yellow much better looking. I would buy the STD Se and upgrade the rear shock. The ohlins shock on the Se isn't fully adjustable.

I test rode the standard Z900rs 2024 model, the snatchy throttle was a real pain- have they done anything to improve this ? I believe it’s Euro 6 now ?

That flat grey/black with the gold forks really sets it off. Personally as much as I like that bike, I think I would have to go for the 650 RS variant otherwise I'll be popping that front wheel too much😂

Thanks for the great review as usual Mr.Ray , but i do have to say matte color on a retro doesn't look good or make sense, when these came out in 70s matte color wasn't a paint job, it was a primer job because u couldn't afford to paint it and were just prepping it for real paint, i don't think this paint job does this beautiful bike any justice, glossy black and silver like last years z650 rs would have been great
I ride a gsxs750 2018 and was keen this bike but on paper it’s uncanny how similar the statts are … I know you have ridden both … what is your view on spending a lot more money for this one and moving from the Suzuki ?? My fear is it’s not enough of a change for the money but I love the looks of both bikes and love my bike now but it’s getting to the age and kms that for the right bike I’d change.
Kawi should’ve did gold trim on the tank instead of grey/silver. It just looks like they used carry over parts from previous RS bikes. Same goes for the Ninja 500 the Moondust white & passion Red 25s look exactly like the 24s!But still an improvement over the color combos we’ve got over the past few years in the US! I love the new KRT color scheme of 2025 glad they ditched the red trim on the KRT that made it look like a Grinch bike😂 btw Ray I could feel those butterflies on the power wheelies !👊
I yern for a 18-19 cafe acid green, but an rs... I could switch the plastics and tanks , but it way cheaper to convert a cafe to rs ... If I can find a 7 yr old motorcycle nobody has messed with.
Would have been nice if you could have told us all about how you feel this snatchy throttle is, as in has it improved at all on the 25 model? I'm from the UK, and I physically know of people that have moved this bike on with less than 200 miles on brand new bikes. I've done 7500 miles on mine, reluctant to get the ECU re-mapped (re-flashed) as I been warned it will invalidate the remainder of my 2 year warranty, but none the less, after all that milage, its still a pain in the arse (ass) for me, just can't sell my bike based on its drop dead gorgeous looks.

@@RayBowdenRides I just got a look at the 2025 Kawa RS parts catalog and the US hasn't had any changes in the exhaust system since they came out in 2018, they even kept the euro5 headers just like Tasmania. The only difference is the cafe gets a brushed finished can and heat shields.

With no cruise control, IMU, what other options from the 900 lime did they leave off and charge more? No way. Getting ripped off as a stupid consumer just because you like cafe racer styling is a short road. Very short.
The plastic gauges is extremely tacky, Triumph at least gives you Cruise Control and real metal gauges!! The cost cutting is soo evident in the World today, you cannot buy anything that isn’t littered in cheap plastic!!!

The plastic gauges is extremely tacky, Triumph at least gives you Cruise Control and real metal gauges!! The cost cutting is soo evident in the World today, you cannot buy anything that isn’t littered in cheap plastic!!!

Weight savings , agree about cruise tho , all over 650's should have cruise.
