Surfing Honolua Bay: Living The Dream!

- Surfing fun waves on Maui with my wife. We went out at the river mouth and paddled across the bay. She didn't want to paddle to the outside so I picked off waves towards the inside. I was able to film some shredders as they surfed by too. I used my GoPro HERO7 for all shots.

These clips clips are from over 2 years ago. But that is my break I surf every time I go to Maui. In fact, we get a condo within 5 to 10 minutes from this spot and I'll tell you...I can't get enough!!

@@billythephoenix Only to Oahu to surf. I did not windsurf when I was younger. I did see real shortboard windsurfing at Diamond Head for the 1st time and was impressed. Circa 1985

Yup, that right throws out a nice barrel over the reef and that was a small day. It is absolutely one of my favorite surf spots on the planet! The whole vibe of the place, the jungle, the wave, is like a dream. I hope all is well up there in NS and you're getting some surfing in before it gets too cold. It's totally cool bro! With your snow boarding skills, I think you would have a bit of a head start. It's all about balance. My wife I got married on Maui in 1997 at sunset and earlier that day I surfed Honolua Bay. It's definitely a special place! Thanks for watching!

@@TProStudioCreate Lahaina Maui has beginner surf lessons and it's a mellow rolling wave. Also, in Northern California in Santa Cruz. I saw the same thing there on the inside bay just below the world famous Steamers Lane surf spot. If you can swing it, go to Maui. These are relatively close locations for you.

Looks nicer than where I surfed Sunday. Outer banks, about same size waves, just brown water, not clear and pretty. Lol

Hey Paul! I'm so stoked to hear from you! I love surfing the OBX and sand beach breaks. That's what my local surf spot was growing up, sandy, crunchy barrels and for the most part brown water. So pre Covid, we were going back and forth to Hawaii and enjoying warm clear water, tropical breezes and surfing, snorkeling and hiking and exploring. It's such a cool vibe over there and a quick flight from San Diego. Btw, there are still a few of us left that all met through Ben Gravy's YT channel that keep in touch. Like John Egan, LH Coolbreeze, California Surfing, Todd Euliano and Casey Willax to mention a few. In fact, I did drop by your YT channel a couple weeks ago to see if I had missed any recent uploads. Anyway, I hope you're still flying your drone, shaping surfboards and getting your stoke on in the surf!!
@@billythephoenix doing it all still. I've surfed obx since I was a kid. Best waves on east coast!!! We were just south of Nags Head pier. But I made the trip to s turns also.

G'day Martin, yes, Honolua Bay is a world class wave! The whole experience is mind blowing. You drive a winding road along rugged coastline to an unmarked parking area, hike through the jungle along a stream bed as wild chickens flutter all around and then ya pop out at the mouth of the bay. If the surf is flat, the snorkeling is epic! If the surf is firing, well there's no other place I'd rather be!! By the way, we live in San Diego, California and Hawaii is a 5 hour flight. We have also been to Australia, Dec 2018 for 3 weeks, and stayed in Sydney, Gold Coast and Cairns. Absolutely one of the best trips I have ever been on!! Thanks for watching mate!

@@nottherealmccoy4955 I actually met my wife after we surfed the same break in the parking lot through her brother that I already knew. That was the summer of '95. We got married on Maui Nov '97. A definite win!
