Carver Surfskate: Downhill Run Yuma Foothills, Arizona

- After surfskating the concrete wave at the skatepark and historic downtown Yuma, I wanted to try a long downhill run on the Carver. So, we had to venture out into the Yuma Foothills to find a relatively smooth street to do some long downhill asphalt surfing. The first clip, I had Lori film me hand holding the GoPro and the second clip I mounted the GoPro to the side passenger window of the vehicle with the GoPro Suction Cup. So instead of having both lanes to carve, she drove down the wrong side of the street filming me while I used the other lane. It made it tight but the speed I attained was exhilarating! I knew I had to cut back uphill at the end to avoid a gnarly concrete dip that was impossible to go across. All in all, we had a blast hanging out in the hot, dry desert surfskating!

That opening sequence was inspired! And the desert backdrop is mind blowing, Billy! Huge fun, I've watched it 5 times already! Great skating too, I'm betting it was a lot faster than it looks! After your last video, I've been riding barefoot too & it feels really good! Keep them coming, it's really making me keen to keep trying! :)
That desert backdrop is spectacular. That's why I mounted the camera on that side of the truck. The other side was just houses. That downhill was fast and even I know when shoes are needed, like on that run. If I'm doing casual, mellow riding, I love going barefoot but some of these other rad hills and asphalt need shoes for sure! Keep riding and surfing Martin, it keeps our minds and our bodies in shape!
@@billythephoenix Yes, shoes have their place, especially if you have to jump & run! The GoPro's don't do the speed justice or wave size! Looking forward to your next adventure! :)

Thanks man! The weather for the most part in the southwest is mild...that's why there's so many people and everywhere you go is crowded and the roads congested...but not at the river!

We go to Yuma all the time to jet ski the lower Colorado River...so finding a few spots to surfskate was awesome!

Those wheels are rather grippy but there not as soft as you think...but after the falls I've taken the last two days in a row, I need to wrap my body with bags of marshmallows to absorb the impact. Blood and bruises for the win!! Yewww!!!
@@billythephoenix Dude!? Ya' alright? When I fall from my skateboard I'm usually pretty close to static and not moving very fast, whey YOU fall you are usually cruising right along! That must involve some mean road rash as I don't see any protective gear on you... I know this may sound harsh, but did you get any of your falls on video!?...LOL 🤣😝 Take care bro, as you well know, we don't "bounce back" like we used to in our younger years. In fact, I'm giving up a surf day because my bad toe that I keep stubbing on pop ups is taking a looong time to heal and that toe is affecting everyday life now 😫

@@billythephoenix so good.. in the early 2000s. i traveled many km from sanfrancisco to denver 4 days of travel, passing through the arizona desert. a mystical place

@@billythephoenix yes i have relatives in Auburn near Sacramento and my sister now lives in San Ramon near San Francisco.I lived in San Leandro for a year and went to the beach in Santa Cruz. many good memories. ♥️
