I think you mean 2 half steps down... 2 steps down would be "C" (E one 1/2 step down to Eb, another 1/2 step to D, another 1/2 step to C#, another 1/2 step to C nat... 2 steps)

They'll still go out of tune unless you stretch them before you do this. Also, I would assume that some guitars you would have to tune to "triple flat" because the tremolo tension springs are probably tighter than other guitars. It all depends on setup.

I’m new to your channel and really like your vids, but if I might make a comment erasers are an abrasive material although very fine it is abrasive. I use this method and have for years a better alternative is a cork from a wine bottle the rubber ones are my favorite but standard cork is fine the advantage is you can trim them to fit the exact height of your bridge in the tuned position then just drop it in under the bridge before removing the strings keeps the bridge closer to normal height then tune slightly flat. I have several that I’ve modified over the years for different guitars. I believe you can get a bag of them at most craft stores for a couple of bucks. Again please don’t take this as a slight I really do like your vid and content keep up the good work

Or tune to D on a chromatic tuner 😁
