A man I thought was a great businessman REALLY signed a deal with the McDonald's brothers and because they were difficult (sometimes foolish) about his suggestions for changes he found a way to steal their company and then for good measure made them take the McDonald's name off their original store, opened his own McDonald's across the street to destroy them.. refused to pay them the royalties he promised because they trusted his word and in the meantime dumped the wife who stood by him all those years and took someone else's.. who became the saintly Joan Koch we came to know. Not flattering.

      No it wasn't a stolen idea Ray Kroc bought the McDonald Brothers out. McDonalds was just a few stores until ray built up the corporation through offering franchises and owned many of his own. In fact the reason it's a billion dollar corp still is that 90% of the stores are franchised and 10% owned by the corp.

      Glenn Bell buys a "Speedy Serve System" from the McDonalds brothers and uses it in his restaurant. In 1962, he decided to go solo and sold the El Tacos to his partner and opened his first Taco Bell. 1964:Bell franchised his restaurant in 1964.1978:His company grew rapidly, and the 868-restaurant chain was later sold to PepsiCo in 1978 for $125 million in stock.Not very exciting. IN and OUT Burger is more interesting as it is more Soap Opera like.

    • @mitchellmurray5892
      @mitchellmurray5892 8 лет назад +3

      Thats a bit of a long shot. "Birdman" was the role of a lifetime for Keaton, a character with intentional similarities to himself, where he poured every ounce of anger, pain and hope into a knockout, highlight of the year performance. To top that would be a true task.
      It would be a bit like Mickey Rourke trying to top "The Wrestler".

    • @smithfan22
      @smithfan22 8 лет назад

      +Mitchell Murray you're probably right. It may not be this movie, but Keaton has the talent to have another Oscar worthy performance. I'm just happy his career got brought back to life.

    • @TrueIronMaidenFan
      @TrueIronMaidenFan 8 лет назад

      I still don't understand what was so damn impressive about that role. And to compare it to Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler? No way.

    • @mitchellmurray5892
      @mitchellmurray5892 8 лет назад

      Michael Colby I compared it to Mickey Rourke because it was a very similar story for the two actors - both of them were in the later portions of their careers, both had a shot at a big break after being faded into obscurity, and both brought every ounce of anguish from years of personal torment into their performance. So the final product is virtually a carbon copy of themselves - a lot of the time thats where the most inspired acting comes from.
      You aren't as impressed with Keaton as a lot of people - thats completely fine, mate. In my opinion, its not only the clear Best Actor choice of 2014, but one of the principle examples of a successful performance in that category.
