Hey there Adam, first of all let me say sorry for getting back to you this late - I’m usually a lot faster with those. Thanks for your positive words and feedback 🙏🏼 when it comes to the setting of your trucks it is all about preference I’d say. So I would recommend that you just played around with it until you find something that feels just right for you. my trucks are the CX4 from carver and I have them what I would consider at a medium stiffness, but I have my back trucks on the lose side of things :) let me know if that was good or if you need anything else answered 🤙🏽

Hi Chris, I am snowboarder crossing over to surfskating. Is the reason you dont compress/decompress on the heel-side part of the turn, something to do with surf/wave dynamics? I ask because in extreme-carving snowboarding, we have the wave gradient on both heel-side and toe-side (imagine a massive steep wave and we are carving left and right down it with no bottoming out, I guess?). In snowboarding, like in surfing or skating I suppose, we have a preferred side, generally toe-side due to ankle mechanics, and I am trying to train my rubbish heel-side to carve properly - was hoping surfskating would let me do this. Just trying stuff out..
I think for that purpose you’re best practice would be to practice on a hill, where you can do carving turns on the heel as well as on the toe side rail!!! whenever I go down a hill I have more snowboarding than surfing in my mind and it works perfectly for me to ensure safety just start on a small hill/tiny slope. but yes the most prominent rail to engage in surfing is the toe said rail when going on a frontside wave or the heel side rail when going backside. however this is only true when we’re talking about down the line surfing/pumping to generate speed. when one starts doing maneuvers on a wave surfing becomes a rail to rail transition - but that wasn’t the topic of that video 🙌🏼 let me know if I can help you on any other way 🤙🏽 I snowboard and ski as well - being German :D

@@ChrisGenau Ha yea..i,m farther north on the North East coast..even colder still and theres been an influx of new surfers adding to crowds so I try to go to quieter spots sometimes for lesser waves....I hope to get down south this year..Thanks for checking out my stuff man..)

@@ChrisGenau I blame Blue Crush for surfings recent popularity..) The crowds mainly are at the popular beaches but are slowly starting to spread out so hopefully its not too crowded by time you can get to the UK..)

I'm on a Yow 32 inch deck from 2017 but have put Carver CX4 trucks on it last year, and never want to go back to any other truck. Luckily I haven't injured myself ever skating - not severely that is. Have lost a bit of skin here and there to the concrete and my shins didn't really like me learning FS 180 either, but other than that I'm holding up :) If you're starting slowly and do not go for the super lose trucks and brands out there I'm sure you've got this!! You can rip up the concrete waves just like I do Or am trying to do :D
