You need to drive up and forwards with your hip and shoulders, which gives you thrust....Not so much compression extension legs and arms, rail to rail you need thrust...White lightning Mick, powerful hip and shoulder thrust, going toe to heel, notice their arms and hands are more static..."Parko shredding DBah" is a great education vid, arms low and cocked, thrusting with hip and shoulders rail to rail....Hip going up and shoulders gives the strong forward extension up and forward, quiet arms...What people see their minds get wrong, it ain't up and down toe to heel..

I have a 5’0” and a 6’6” hamboard. The bigger one has become my favorite since you can really carve and helps teach weight placement. Also foot work and nose riding is fun! Such a fun crossover sport

I’ve got the 6’6! I live in a flat place so it’s kind of a pain to push around sometimes but it’s the best cross step trainer out there. I even have the land sup paddle and it really helps me focus on my muscle movements for normal skating

  • @arnuriskaliyev

Great video Kyle! However, it's worth noting that you can develop bad habit by putting too much weight on your front foot whilst training on surfskate. I've spent couple of month training on carver, to my surprise, I've noticed that my surfing deteriorated as i was bogging rails whenever i tried to carve or turn. I guess, it's because if you put too much weight on your back on surfskate you gonna do a wheelie and fall flat on your back. Learn from my mistakes!

I'm absolutely terrible at backhand pumping lol. Frontside is way easier for me, it just feels awkward the other way around. I always lose all my speed when I go for a turn and end up falling off my board on lefts, because I can't pump backhand.

Hey Kale, I watched another surfskate/surfing (Surf and Show) video and this person said the opposite of what you're saying - that you should compress at the top of the wave and extend at the bottom. I have a surfskate and found your way is more intuitive and comfortable, but what are your thoughts on what he is saying?
