The best part of the Atom Eve identity scene is William getting her mixed up with someone else after. Like they don't pay attention to the Teen Team that much.
Nolan calling Debbie a Pet and that she doesn't matter is actually him trying to talk himself into this aswell. As seen in the Flashback, his time on Earth actually did affect him. If he truly was still 100% indoctrinated by the Viltrum ways, he would've killed Debbie the Moment she found out he murdered the Guardians, because she "didn't matter" anyway as he claimed. Not only that, he even let Art live with the Knowledge, which was another major risk. Granted he threw a lowkey threat at Art, but everything we know about Viltrumites at this point, this was still hella uncharacteristic. And when Nolan flew away, crying, it wasn't because he couldn't decide what to do. At that moment he did decide. It was either serve the Viltrum Empire which would mean to kill his Son, or abandon his Post. And as Allen said, in thousands of years there was never a incident of a Viltrumite abandoning his Mission, not even ONCE. Funny thing is that Omniman/Nolan is "nice" relative to other vitrumites. You can kind of tell he's conflicted about the whole thing but feels he has no choice. He said in episode 1 that it probably would have been better if Mark didn't get his powers... then he could at least wait out Debbie and Mark's death before he took over Earth. But since Mark's powers awakened, Nolan couldn't do that anymore. Every extra year that Mark lived is another one that Mark would become more attached to Earth and humans, so Nolan probably felt he had no more choice. And if he wasn't going to take over Earth, then the other vitrumites would eventually come. omniman is over 1000yrs old completely indoctrinated with his peoples ways. 17yrs with humans aint gonna change it. yet Marks words got to him.
If you think Omni-Man is bad or what he did was evil, just wait when you meet the other Viltrumites because trust me when I say this, Nolan/Omni-man is the most nicest of his people😂

Personally I hope that toxic relationship ends next season.
Alan is probably my favorite character in this show, he's like that buddy who just senses when you're having a bad day and comes around to take you out for a beer or helps you with a job without needed to be asked first like fixing your car.

44:16 I think what you’re referencing that line where amber asks if eve can’t make it to the soup kitchen because, she "needs to go save the world". It was just a coincidental joke. No one knows she’s a superhero, remember that even mark was surprised when he figured it out. The mask thing doesn’t change anything, like you mentioned, Omniman doesn’t have a mask. It’s like what eve said; "it’s a psychological thing". I don’t know how accurate it is, but it’s superhero logic, I guess.
I kinda understand the psychological part of it. You wouldn't assume someone with the powers of Atom Eve would bother attending high school because you'd think they'd be doing super hero stuff exclusively.
@@TheCelticD yeah I can believe that, but celebrities get recognised all the time. Also, with the amount of students that would have attended their school since eve joined, you would think more than one student would ask her about it. But I guess people don’t care that much about who’s behind the mask
One joke in the comic is that Mark got a slight change in his costume and people legit thought that he was his own sidekick, Invinciboy I swear to God that's the truth
The martian thing was pretty confusing, but basically one of the humans got left behind and taken over by the sequids who then proceeded to conquer the martians. The thing that went back to earth with the other humans was a martian, not a sequid. Martians can shapeshift, so he appeared as human to hitch a ride. So the sequids haven't come to Earth, at least not yet.
The way I see it, the reason why Nolan waited so long to carrying out his mission of conquering Earth had everying to do with Mark getting his powers. I think he probably would have prefer to wait long enough for both his wife & child to grow old and pass away naturally, but that no longer matted as soon as Mark gained his Viltrumite powers, because he knew Mark would live just as long as him...meaning that there was no longer a point in stalling the inevitable anymore.🤔
I also think it spurred him to action. The Guardians of the Globe couldn't beat him, but a Mark that was more in control of his powers and more battle experienced teamed up with them might have been the difference they needed. He was so beat up at the end as it was, imagine if even a marginally more powerful Invincible had been there to contribute.
He should also have known Mark wouldn't be fond of enslaving humanity, everyone he knows and loves is human, I think it would have been smarter for Nolan to have kept the course and convince Mark of being more pro-Viltrumite after a century or two of training, It's not that long for Nolan and gives mark somewhat of an understanding after watching all of his friends and family(minus his dad) grow old and die.

Spoilers! The old buff dude at 10:40 is Conquest. In the comics he's basically Mark's Doomsday. Unfortunately he'll probably be introduced in the end of season 3 considering how long the comics are. But if you thought Nolan was brutal, that guy makes Nolan look like a saint
20:30 Omni-Man: Certainly not this pathetic excuse for a civilization! Blonde: Hey... We're doing ok... Me, remembering the last five years in America alone: Are we, though?
That whole fight wasn’t Nolan trying to convince his son, it was him trying to convince himself. He has changed, and there are much worse Viltrumites than him 😬
What always gets me is that people very critically latch onto the negative things Nolan says, like the "pet" comment, while completely ignoring his every attempt (and is never shown in videos) at being realistic of the situation, constantly showing us that there's two sides to his feelings. He often speaks quite objectively and makes notable disclaimers that let you know he's not some one-note evil villain. He alludes to wanting to wait until Mark and Debbie were gone to do his job (interrupted by Mark getting his powers) and tries to get Mark to see the bigger picture. Now, of course we know Mark wouldn't be okay with this revelation, but as a viewer, we have a lot more information than Mark. It just blows me away that so few see the nuances in his character. Nolan goes from mostly unwavering in his loyalty to being extremely harsh in order to ignore his feelings, to trying to convince himself that what he's doing is right to flat-out abandoning his post. He's not heartless and he's not a simple "bad guy". He's a man who weighing thousands of years of indoctrination against the brief love of a family, facing the existential crisis that everything he's ever believed in could be wrong. EDIT: I get that the negative comments are more shocking and thus garner more attention and feedback, but the other, more subtle characterization that explains those comments exists throughout the series and I guess it just rubs me the wrong way that it's so easily ignored by so many, not necessarily just this react crew. It's clear he loves Debbie, but he also has the knowledge that he'll outlive her by so many lifetimes that she'll eventually fade from memory or be replaced by another. The "pet" comment is rough to us, but if we lived for thousands of years, our perspective might change. That's why trying to adopt the perspective of the person we're judging is so necessary to being rational.
That bit about the thousands of years is something I don't see many people even acknowledge, it's like if we as humans lived a certain way for 50 years and then spent a day with some nice people who thought a different way to us and expected us to suddenly change everything we believed in in that single day, it's even more impressive that Nolan stopped at all given that timeframe.
1:51 “He murdered them in his house.” TBF, if ppl break into your house and start shooting machine guns at you I don’t think it’s considered “murder” to kill them. 😉
It's still murder, it's just murder in self-defense, generally speaking. Depending on where you live, whether you are on property you own, and whether it is reasonable to assume your life is in imminent danger will all factor into whether self-defence is considered legally justified. It's actually a somewhat complicated area of the law for obvious reasons. In some situations, if you have a reasonable method of escaping the situation (like the house having a back door) or if your life isn't at immediate risk (someone with no weapon vs you with a gun) you absolutely could still be charged with murder. If Nolan were on trial, it would be hard to call any of his actions self-defence because there's no reason for him to believe he's in any real danger from simple bullets.
I love the reaction Morgan and Sam had when he said "you dad, I'd still have you". That was a great line. What a punch to the gut from Mark to his Dad (not Invincible and Omni-Man).
That’s a good thing about this show when a character is stronger than the main character he doesn’t somehow get strong enough to beat the bad guy he gets his ass kicked it’s more realistic
Somehow after dozens of times seeing it I against all odds just NOW realized how hard Nolan is projecting when he yells at his son about what will you have after 500 years. Nolan actually knows what 500 years is like. He's probably had a whole handful of wives and kids and even grandkids come and go several times over. This was the first time the person he loved would actually survive until the day he died. His son was going to be there to see the man he decides to be from that moment on. Like Nolan is super fucked up but he also came from the kind of stuck in your ways that centuries of saiyan blooded Superman fascism cements in a mother fucker so him changing even a single inch is several miracles stacked on top of each other for real.
I often do not relate to Sam's reactions and humor, but I was touched that she seemed to be the only one to tear up when Mark said "You, Dad." Cheers, Sam. Also, 37:00 that identity blindness is a real thing. Celebrities aren't recognized 100% of the time by 100% of people that see them, because most people aren't paying attention to them and many people think they look LIKE the celebrity, instead of actually being them.
Now that you guys have completed Season 1. Perhaps we can watch the new seasons together. I know they been working S2 and 3 simultaneously. I seriously hope we can😁😁
Bro it's been a long time since I've seen someone slowly make a giant gawking face at something as a reaction. It feels good to know some stories and concepts can still genuinely shock viewers today.
It was so funny hearing you guys ask about the mummy pretty much every episode. I don’t know if that character comes back later or not, but, in the same episode it appeared, it’s implied that it was either crushed or sealed away by the slab that slammed in front of the tomb. When it comes to not noticing a superhero, or even a celebrity, it’s a real thing. If you aren’t looking for specific features, or person, everyone just kind of blends together or are even ignored unconsciously, especially if the brain isn’t given ample time to analyze and process. Even when you think you recognize someone, you unconsciously doubt and rationalize the situation, just like not being absolutely sure you’re seeing an actual celebrity until they confirm it. Even to this day, there are only a handful of my family members who won’t initially mistake me for my older brother if it’s been a while since we’ve seen each other, and I think that that’s mainly because we grew up so closely throughout the years.
The thing with the sequids is that a martian took the place of the astronaut and an astronaut got left behind. They thought everyone came back but one snuck on the shuttle and disguised as a human. Parker's right. Literally just some random martian came along for a joy ride to earth.
I'd love to know what material that tailor uses in his suits. They hit Omni with that space laser, and his costume didn't even get singed. Mark flies out of the atmosphere, burning his clothes away, and his costume is fine. They need that tailor to work on those cyborgs, and make them even tougher.
Also with the whole people not seeing through eves disguise, Hugh Hackman, Robert Downey jr, and Dollie Parton have lost in their own lookalike contrasts. It’s not far of a stretch to think people don’t put one and one together.
Finally! Have watched a few reactions to this episode, think this is the first time anyone has actually acknowledged the obvious elephant in the room...Earth or Mark for that matter can not handle one Viltrumite...wtf would they do if a squad or platoon showed up on Earth's doorstep? Viltrum, it's Viltrumites, or villains of true might...in large numbers seems extremely op for anyone to handle.
They do a really good job showing what would really happen in a superhero world. We never see the amount of death in Marvel and DC, even though we KNOW people die. I don't think I've seen this said in the comments yet but they've already announced 2 more seasons. 🙏🏾 CANNOT WAIT! And I just ordered the 2nd Compendium 😏 SO ready!
The inner conflict inside Omni-Man between how he was raised, what he thinks he has to do and the love of his family is amazing. I'm convinced pretty much everything he said wasn't to convince Mark but to convince himself he was doing the right thing
The one that stayed on Mars is the astronaut that got taken over by a sequid. Thats the one wrecking havoc on Mars rn. And the one that came to earth is a Martian that only shapeshifted into the astronaut that got possessed. Why? Who knows. He wanted to go to Earth for some reason. xD Its a bit confusing how it was shown but yeah.
While Mark isn't invincible physically, his mentality and heroic spirit are. Even in the face of all this he never once wavered, always wanting and trying to save as many people as he could. And after recovering, he went out to meet Allen after a day or two.
The mummy was resolved in the episode right after he got resurrected. Mark and Omniman flying by re-sealed the tomb. It was a joke about how little of a problem a mummy would actually be for them.
As far as superhero disguises go...remember...Hugh Jackman went to a ComicCon and was told he looked nothing like the character. Ryan Reynolds and several other well known actors have also lost look-alike contests of themselves... People can be really obtuse...
I think the cyborg program uses severely wounded veterans, especially those on ventilation or with substantial brain damage or multiple severed limbs. Not sure about the consent situation fully though.
A few moments before Nolan holds Mark against the Train, he weakly struggles, and says, "I need.. to save them.." And Nolan says, "No you don't." That's.. the part that really sticks with me.
37:09 It is a trope in comics that basically no one is recognizing the heros in costume, even if they don't hide their face. I doesn't really make sense but I guess we kind of just have to accept that.
When Nolan says Debbie is a pet to him. I reckon it means like how we love our pets and people will even risk their life to save their pet. People even love their pets more then people themselves. The only thing is we live for like 80 years and Pets like a Dog will live for like 10 years. BUT if you have to choose to save your pets life over another person then of course you choose that person instead. People are worth more in life than pets. Nolan just doesn't see Humans as a race that is cut from the same cloth.
Of course she would be. Remember that Mark is risking her life on default just by being with her. And in return he could not be honest with her about who he really was? Would *you* not get upset if the person you were dating did that to you and then realized his friends knew? Seriously people.

That train scene sort of traumatized me the first time I watched it. I had to pause the episode for like a whole minute and repeat "WHAT THE HECK DID I JUST SEE!"
The mummy problem was solved by Mark and Nolan flying too low. They didnt even realize they stopped anything. Its both a gag and a visualisation about how all these typical horror movie dangers are just no danger to them at all.
To clarify the Martian-Sequid problem: A shape shifting Martian returned to Earth in place of a human astronaut. Because a human was left on Mars, the sequids were able to attach to him (they can't attach to Martians (amorphous nervous system) or Viltrumites (skin too strong). Once they have a single host, all sequids can be controlled as one through that host. This is why the Martians were going to execute the humans. The Martian who snuck onboard and stranded the human doomed his planet.

I can think of no other reason for him to even be there other than to make sure he didn’t need to off the new group as well.
If you think Omni-Man is bad or what he did was evil, just wait when you meet the other Viltrumites because trust me when I say this, Nolan/Omni-man is the most nicest of his people😂

I rewatched that “you dad” scene so many times in reactions and tear up every time. It wa so beautiful when she cried at that moment.
The comic is the perfect super hero story, this show has a lot more to cover in future seasons. I can’t wait for the second season!
12:25 “She’s more like a pet to me.”
Girls’ reaction: 😬 😱 🤯 🙊
Parker’s reaction: 😐
Lmao. He barely reacts to anything that isnt some kinda of negativity against a male character... He even said "poor Nolan" after all he's done.
"You, dad. I'd still have you."
This line always hits me. Every time I hear it, I can't help but letting a tear fall down on my face.
I’ll never get tired of rewatching this episode. Especially seeing other peoples reaction to it.

The old buff dude at 10:40 is Conquest. In the comics he's basically Mark's Doomsday. Unfortunately he'll probably be introduced in the end of season 3 considering how long the comics are. But if you thought Nolan was brutal, that guy makes Nolan look like a saint
Prepare for my arrival, worm!
20:30
Omni-Man: Certainly not this pathetic excuse for a civilization!
1:51 “He murdered them in his house.”
TBF, if ppl break into your house and start shooting machine guns at you I don’t think it’s considered “murder” to kill them. 😉
Normally yes, but for Nolan it's like a man finding kids in his house and kilking them all
It's still murder, it's just murder in self-defense, generally speaking.
@@nickwittednonpareil “It's still murder, it's just murder in self-defense.”
If it truly is self-defense then it ceases being murder.
The Martian knowing about Viltrum was a joke, he definitely didn’t know about them.
I remember reading the comics and the story is just beyond crazy and it’s unbelievable what mark has even after all his years.
I love the reaction Morgan and Sam had when he said "you dad, I'd still have you". That was a great line. What a punch to the gut from Mark to his Dad (not Invincible and Omni-Man).
Parker just smiling at the destruction 🤣

The mummy thing, mark buried him under when he was flying too close to the ground literally in the same episode. It was kinda like just a little joke
The thing with the sequids is that a martian took the place of the astronaut and an astronaut got left behind. They thought everyone came back but one snuck on the shuttle and disguised as a human. Parker's right. Literally just some random martian came along for a joy ride to earth.
Bro made the sleepover
I'd love to know what material that tailor uses in his suits. They hit Omni with that space laser, and his costume didn't even get singed. Mark flies out of the atmosphere, burning his clothes away, and his costume is fine. They need that tailor to work on those cyborgs, and make them even tougher.
30:10 @Sam them instantly standing up against tyranny is what theyre symbolizing in that scene after the whole Omni-man ordeal.
Also with the whole people not seeing through eves disguise, Hugh Hackman, Robert Downey jr, and Dollie Parton have lost in their own lookalike contrasts. It’s not far of a stretch to think people don’t put one and one together.
"You dad, I'd still have you"
Ahh, that gets me everytime.

While Mark isn't invincible physically, his mentality and heroic spirit are. Even in the face of all this he never once wavered, always wanting and trying to save as many people as he could. And after recovering, he went out to meet Allen after a day or two.

When Nolan says Debbie is a pet to him. I reckon it means like how we love our pets and people will even risk their life to save their pet. People even love their pets more then people themselves. The only thing is we live for like 80 years and Pets like a Dog will live for like 10 years. A Martian went to earth by disguising himself as a human and the human got taken over by the alien and is conquering Mars.
season 2 is going to reveal so much everything that nolan does goes way more in to depth
