My theory: His sickness had nothing to do with breathing or clean air. When you first meet him, he seems to have no trouble breathing. No coughing, wheezing, etc. But the kid's very timid. Going through school, I saw a lot of timid kids get picked on and bullied, and by the end of highschool, a good number of them had depression, some of them were going to weekly therapy. I think this is what happened to Wally. I think once he got his first pokemon, it lit a fire in him, and he pushed himself to move forward and improve. He had a driving force behind him now, which explains his speedy recovery, and how he went through the gyms so quickly. Every time the player beats him, he would tell himself "I just have to push harder and get stronger" and he would. It would also explain why he's so thankful to the player for helping him get his first pokemon, which comes up almost every time you see him. You didn't just get this kid a pokemon to help him on his trip to Verdanturf. You gave him the initial push to get past his depression. That's my theory anyway.
Fun fact the flowers at the last fight you had with wally those are spider limb flowers or whatever it means that they grow whenever you see your friend for the last time so wally died
I think your theory is correct Proto, because I too have bronchitis and every time I get sick, I went to my grandparents house to recover. But since my grandparents passed away and my parents sold their home, I had to find ways to fight back the illness whenever it hits again. Still have bronchitis today, and my parents always assume I'm fine, but really, it hurts.
actually I used to have asthma when I was a kid (needed an inhaler) and its been quite a few years since I last experienced any kind of asthma related breathing troubles so I dont think his recovery is too far fetched or maybe im just weird
vivian james Nah, both me and my sister have it and haven't had attacks in years (nearly 2 decades for me). Wally having athsma really isn't hard to believe.
ProtoMario Ash? No. But I've spent my fair share of time in places (old basements and attics, mostly) thick with other athsma triggers, most notably dust and mold . We have also had a dog for most of my life (and a cat for the last 3 years) which should have triggered an attack if it wasn't possible to have some degree of control over it.
vivian james It didn't take years for Brendan to beat the Hoenn league though. Even though you and others no longer have symptoms after years there isn't such a timeframe present for Wally to grow out of it or have his symptoms no longer be as severe.
vivian james Same thing happened with my niece. according to the doctor though, it doesn't necessarily mean you no longer have asthma. Kids tend to be more sensitive so you could, for the most part, grow out of it but apparently it tends to return when you're older and your body starts getting weaker again. Or if you get really sick.
is anyone else gonna ignore the fact that Wally's original hometown was in the west of Hoenn( Petalburg)? and, due to some trouble in his neighbourhood, he had to live with his auntie and uncle in Verdanturf where there was *fresh air*? Coincidence?
I always assumed Wally had cancer and that his parents just sent him somewhere with fresh air to try to make his short life better in some small way. Not that the clean air would cure it. Or maybe they lied to him and said "ah you'll be okay son all you need is some fresh air" to keep him from fearing his own death.
+Gravityfallschick72 Dont worry Wally has asthma,it is explained in manga, plus i have friends that with asthma and they can play soccer without complications.
what if the only way he made it to victory road is because when he defeated the 8th gym he had a chronic asthma attack and medical attention was to late and he died. I should know because I have had 4 near death experiences with asthma myself :-(
I think Wally could be a list relative if N. Remember N was adopted by Genesis when he was a kid, and they both have the same green hair, pale skin and grey eyes. N was separated from Wally and his family somehow.
It could be Cystic Fibrosis, a buildup of mucus in the lungs. According to a study by the University of Washington, it becomes a much more severe disease when you are in poorer quality air. One way it affects people who have it is by making physical activity harder.. Ironically, a good way to deal with CF is by being physically active, as it helps your body break down the mucus, allowing for more air to fill the lungs, allowing you to be more active, etc. Sources: University of Washington, and I have CF
Super late comment, but I too have CF. As a kid playing Emerald I always related to Wally because of it. I just googled what was Wally's illness out of passing curiousity and found your comment. Sincerely hope you're doing well and keeping healthy!
What if his real illness was depression? Verdanturf has nice fresh air, beautiful music, the scenery is amazing. And the start of him getting better was you and his Ralts? His first two friends.
+Silver (Zarek AQ) Yeah, I'm thinking he could have been bullied or something, as easy as that. Now arguments against that will be "BUT THERE ARE NO OTHER CHILDREN IN PETALBURG TOWN TO BULLY HIM". Which is as stupid as Proto goes when he uses "YOU DON'T HAFTA EAT OR SLEEP TO WIN THE GAME".
+Giradox Depression can come due to a variety of reasons, even as far as no reason at all. If truly there's no other kids, it may have been brought on by loneliness. In the end, not having any friends to talk to all your life is pretty sad and definitely could do mental damage.
+BowlingGlaceon His only flying pokemon is Altaria and he couldn't have gotten a Swablu until he at least got to Fallarbor Town. And the only way to get there is to go through Route 113, which is literally covered in volcanic ash. Not to mention your pokemon can't learn fly until they get the HM for it and they can't use it outside of battle until they get the proper gym badge.
I still think it's asthma. I have asthma myself (born with it) but most of the time it doesn't effect me. I can do what every else does, I did lots of swimming and was one of the top long distance runners in my year. However a couple of years ago after getting a cold it sparked it up again and I was very easily out of breathe and I could no longer do the activities I was doing before. That being said after a while (months) it eventually calmed down again. But it took me a long time to build myself up again. I do have to be very careful when I get illness that effect the lungs. Recently I moved to a city and I have found that the colds I get seem to effect me longer and worst than back when I lived in a town. I assume it's because increased air pollution. I do have trouble breathing in dusty environments, but if I wear a mask it will prevent the dust getting into my lungs. Basically I have a weakness in my lungs which I need to watch throughout my life.
What if wally suffered from deppresion? It would explain his lack of confidence, as well as why he would have left hoenn. "The air is Cleaner" could be a metaphor for "The Place/Town is friendlier and happier. This could also explain how wally nwas able to move so quickly, as pokemon would have got him out of depression and ready to start his journey. Wally's shy nature could also be tied to him having depression as he has not recovered 100% from his mental illness. This may seem like a bit of a stretch but it came to me and I typed it down. Any thoughts?
This made me remember a cousin of mine, I didn't know what he had until now. The same symthoms and this fume machine required for him to get better, we literally had to rush and get that machine in a matter of seconds or he could get really bad. Some time after that his family kept moving looking for what I think Wally's family was looking for aswell.
Walies "sickness" was depression. If you play the original games and talk to his parents, they talk about how happy they are that you gave him a reason to "live." This of course means that he was suicidal and when they moved to a new area, it was to start fresh and try to get Wallies mind off of his depression.
Amari Wallen no but asthma can become dormant and not cause much of a problem for long periods of time but it doesnt just Go away you might not have had an attack in 20 years and then have a MASSIVE asthma attack
I currently have asthma but i think i'll outgrow it too since i haven't had any thing bad that is asthma related, I have an inhalor but i dont use it much.got more sick when i used the medication than right now that i dont use it much 😁
You forgot to point something out Proto. Those red flowers near the end of Victory Road? Those are Red Spider Lillies. In Japanese culture, Red Spider Lillies mean it's the person's final goodbyes. Wally had a sickness, most likely with Lung Cancer from the Volcano exposure over the years. The game stated that he lived near the Volcano for a long time, and long exposures to ash can lead to Lung Cancer. Anyways, Wally made it up through victory road with the help of his Pokémon. After you defeat Wally, Wally loses Oxygen from the breath-taking battle, and behind the scenes, Wally dies from asphyxiation, or lack of oxygen that was caused by his Lung Cancer that was caused by prolonged volcanic exposure. Remember, there are workers in Pokémon ORAS. If ORAS was released in 2014, with the current world at it is today, then that's a lot of CO2 and Carbon. Red Spider Lillies is a Japanese culture for saying goodbye/the person's final goodbyes, which means he has died.
Wally was depressed. When you first talk with his Uncle, he thanks you for hanging out with Wally because he "doesn't have many friends". Examine all the conversations with Wally, from the very first one to last one in Victory Road. He starts off with sort of a stutter, and gradually gets more confident and loud. He always talks about Ralts, the pokemon you helped him catch. You're his friend, and his pokemon are his friends. He went from having none to having a surplus. That's why he gets better. The "fresh air" thing is just a loose tie in, because sunlight and clean air do raise serotonin levels which help aid depression.
It could have also been TB, Tuberculosis. TB is a fungal infection of the lungs. And can be cured with cleaner air. Also the ash particles in the air around volcanos have been theorized to help clean out the fungi in the lungs that causes TB.
actually, in the Manga it talks about how his ralts was healing him, and apparently ralts can learn heal pulse (let it be known, that the 4 move limit is only a game mechanic, and pokemon don't actually forget moves to learn new ones)
+ProtoMario Having Bronchitis really sucks. I stayed in bed for 2 weeks. There's no way he was up and walking around, battling, all with Bronchitis. When I would stand up, I would get dizzy and couldn't stand for more than 5 seconds without feeling sick to my stomach and passing out. And its hard to breathe when standing. All you have the energy to do is lay down and sleep. Plus, its not a disease, its a virus.
Well they said that the air flows in a different direction in Verandurf so the air is clean and without ash. Idk how it's possible, Verandurf is beside a volcano.
Could be Tuberculosis, We still have TB even with modern meds. so in theory so could the pokemon world. It was thought that dry fresh air would help dry out the moisture in your lungs (kill the bacteria) which is why so many TB patients went to the south-western united states in the late 1800s. like Doc Holiday. Verdanturf town could be like the old Sanatorium towns in the wild west especially since it is near the mountains and desert. If wally had TB and went into remission or was cured/treated wally would once again grow strong and lead a healthy life as. the biggest flaw to this theory is if they can cure TB then they wouldn't need to send him to a sanatorium as antibiotics are used as treatment ( to limited effects) Also it is never mentioned that anyone else gets sick. But hey..... its just a theory ;)
I'm not really sure if it's possible if he could have tuberculosis, isn't that an airborne disease? If he did, everyone around would have been affected hence he would need to wear a mask at all times to prevent the spread of the disease, and if I'm not wrong, you would have to be on medications for a long time to ensure you don't get a relapse of tb again right?
My theory was that he was on chemotherapy, perhaps from cancer or lupus. Because chemotherapy lowers your immune system, you can be more at risk to infections from dirty air or general contaminates. That's why hospitals have air filters everywhere, even in areas without contagious patients. If he went there for the last of his chemo, was cleared as being in remission, and was back to being relatively healthy, he might feel like he owes it to himself to have his journey as quickly as he could, in case his sickness came back.
Huh. This makes complete sense, I think. Though I haven't really put too much thought into Wally's sickness. For some reason I liked to imagine that his "sickness" was something mental, like anxiety, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense compared to this. Again, I kind of just shrugged it off after our first battle.
He had a crippling heroine addiction. The main character, by being an exemplary drug-free role model, makes him change his life around in the middle of the game and give up the smack and devote himself to being a trainer full-time. He races through the gyms, eager to make up for the years he spent stoned on his parents' couch. Verdanturf town is the kind of place where rich kids would go to rehab. Volcanic ash is often used in fancy spa treatments at rich people's health resorts. He was sent there by his parents and the main character, as a childhood friend, was sent to check up on him and see if he was really getting better or still using.
I also think that "The clean air is good for his sickness" seems like the kind of euphemistic way a Japanese parent would dance around talking about the actual issue, if you think about the way Japanese culture does that with anything negative.
Protomario, I have something to add to your theory. In the manga we learn a lot more about Wally, but one thing that happens is that he has to bike to the top of Rayquaza's tower, just like we do in pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. We also see Wally using a respirator or breathing apparatus that he wears on his fact to help him breathe. Norman (your father in the games and ruby's father in the manga) meets you at the top of the tower and shows Wally that he no longer needs it since his lungs have strengthened by the hard biking he needed to do to get up the tower and by that exercise that he got in the thinner air as he climbed the tower. This will further help confirm your theory as his strengthened lungs would help him fight off and resist the chronic bronchitis you say that he probably had.
Many kids "grow out of" asthma, and training can reduce the severity of symptoms. Bronchitis would probably be less likely than asthma. If he were susceptible to contracting bronchitis, he could easily start his journey when it seems to clear up, but once he gets deep into an "unclean" area, he could suddenly get bronchitis and die. On the other hand, if it were asthma, the symptoms would build slowly. Think about it this way: You're perfectly healthy. You live at the bottom of a mountain. You walk up a little ways and back down. Every day, you go a little further up. It won't be very difficult for you to get to the top. Now do the same, but breathing through a straw. It would take longer, but eventually, you would be able to make it to the top. That's like asthma. Now imagine the same mountain scenario where you have no straw, but then, randomly, you need to breathe through a straw. Your body isn't used to breathing through the straw, so it will be significantly more difficult to ever make it to the top of the mountain. I have asthma. I went to Colorado a year or two ago and went to the top of Pikes Peak. There were people who noticeably had a large amount of difficulty moving around due to the low oxygen content. I was fine because it wasn't that different from what I was used to.
This was an amazing theory and I have to say, I think you’re right. On a slightly unrelated note, I have chronic bronchitis, which means that I’m stuck with it for life even though it can be treated.
Wally might has asthma but, his partner Gardivour/gallade.. might misspelled her name but gardivour/gallade are psychic types and might had a way to help him on his journey to prevent him to get harm throughout the game.. thus that's why he build a bond with gardivour/gallade which made it mega evolve.. also delcatty also is a healing Pokémon which knows healing Bell and roserade knows aromatherapy which I'm assuming each of wally pokemon played a part in supporting his sickness in the air
Having Bronchitis is the worst. I stayed in bed for 2 weeks straight. There's no way Wally was up and walking around, battling, all with Bronchitis. When I would stand up, I would get dizzy and couldn't stand for over 5 seconds with passing out. I couldn't breathe well when standing either, all you have the strength to do is lay down sleep.
I feel the need to point out that it is fairly common for asthma to go away on its own. Many people simply grow out of it. I do agree that it isn't likely what Wally had, since it doesn't just go away overnight
Dude you have no idea what you are talking about. I am a med student, people with asthma can be without symptoms for very long periods, different people have different causes of their exacerbations. Commonly things such as cold air, dust, exercise etc. A lot of asthmatics can participate in exercise normally and will rarely need their inhalers.
+Zanarkke This is exactly why people are so easily mislead by medical websites, people see such a small section of a much broader field. I don't know why you mentioned COPD, Wally is far too young to have it. Some rare cases exist but they are rare for a reason.
My brother was born at 28 weeks weighing 1 lb. 12 1/2 oz., with underdeveloped lungs and an umbilical hernia, the latter of which was surgically repaired. He came home from the hospital at just short of 6 months weighing 6 pounds more than at birth, and was on oxygen for the next four months (the nurses came over every day, and we had that little sign in our window). To this day he still has twitchy airways, and occasionally uses an inhaler. He;s getting ready to celebrate the big quarter century in 6 weeks, specializes in 3D printing, and wants to get inked everywhere except his groin, hands, and head!
As an asthmatic, I can vouch that ProtoMario's argument makes sense. However, I still believe he has asthma. Why? Well, first and foremost there are two types of asthma: exercise-induced asthma, meaning you have asthma attacks when you engage in strenuous physical activity, and environmentally induced asthma, meaning you have asthma attacks as a result of inhaling things such as dust or pollen. It's common to have a combination of both, which is what I have, but it's still possible, and not even uncommon, to only have one or the other. Now, of course Wally has environmentally induced asthma, hence why he has to move to Verdanturf Town for the fresh air, but there is no evidence of his having any exercise-induced asthma, which means running from gym to gym, mountain climbing, and rigorous battles would not present any issue. But what about the issues of environments, like sandstorms and ash? That should affect him, right? But, in all versions of generation 3, the first pokemon you help Wally catch is a Ralts. The Ralts evolutionary line, especially in generation 3 before the introduction of Gallade, was especially known for one thing: putting up protective barriers. It's so well known for this, in fact, that Gardevoir has "garde" (French for "guard") in her name. What does this mean? Well, I propose that Ralts, then Kirlia, and eventually Gardevoir used their specialization in psychic barriers to protect Wally from motes of potentially harmful substances, such as sand or ash, keeping him in a sphere of clean air to protect him from asthma attacks. It could even be argued that these barriers could maintain air pressure as Wally climbs Mt. Chimney, protecting him even from altitude sickness! And as for the point of the issue "being cured", it is worth mentioning that it could simply be referring to the fact that he'd stopped having asthma attacks since he was in a clean environment. Or, if that doesn't seem sufficient enough, it is also possible for asthma to go into remission. I had a decade of my life without a single asthma attack. Then one day I had a near fatal asthma attack caused by allergies, and from then on I had consistent issues with asthma again. Had Wally's asthma gone into remission while he was in Verdanturf, it would appear to be "cured", while his Ralts would ensure it stayed that way by protecting him from anything that might aggravate his asthma.
You are partially right about Asthma, I have it, but it isn't as severe in the mild cases. I can climb a mountain or hold my breath, running is only impeded by my limp leg. You are right about the sickness and the attack though. But, asthma can be treated with medicine, not cured but endured.
Having bronchitis myself, I can confirm this. It can stay dormant for years and then poof, attack. So long as you keep away from smoke and whatnot, you'll be fine. But it is a major damper on your childhood ^_^;
Wally could also have depression. Those who suffer from depression can come off as frail, quiet, and standoffish. His folks were going to send him to Verdanturf as a means of leaving Petalburg City because the quiet, clean town is an ideal place to go clear your head. Catching Ralts, the Feeling Pokémon, could have very well changed his emotional health, both and by means of litteral change as well as bonding. Even though Wally could have been giving off little emotion. Ralts could have filled in the spaces with happiness. Maybe a little far-stretched, but just a theory. Sometimes mental illness can be simply shrugged off as "[so-and-so] is very sick."
I really like that somebody somebody actually finally talks about asthma! It´s been a problem for mee for as long as I can remember, I also think that it´s one of the reasons for our move to Bolivia, don´t ask ME why. I can´t run 5 meters without starting to breathe heavily, and don´t even get me started about normal exercise, but ever since we´ve moved, I´ve been better. The thing I´m trying to get is that sometimes the solution to your problems is a breath of fresh air.
Yo Proto I'm gonna ask this again can you make a video on why Ash has a similar "Aura" to Sir Aaron in the Lucario movie could that mean Ash is Sir Aaron's Descendent or Reincarnation? And also why does Riley from Sinoh look so similar to Sir Aaron and conveniently have a Lucario and he's able to use aura coincidence or Game Theory? Please Answer Me Proto I asked this preciously on do trainers and pokemon have kids or something like that and people agreed with my statements please make a video of this sooner or later
i think wally had pokerus...its the only sickness in the pokemom world. also it explains how quickly it healed and his crazy fast growth in strength. In Diamond Pearl and Platinum, there are books that say people evolved from pokemon meaning it could still be possible for humans in the pokemon world to get pokerus
Ok, wow. Med student here, you absolutely totally wrong about asthma. Asthmatics can absolutely walk and run and do everything that non-asthmatics to do, even to a professional level. Many athletes have asthma.
I had asthma and moving away from the city's fumes and pollution pretty much cured me. I'm so healthy now that even going back to the city now doesn't bother me. I always thought, and still think, that he had asthma.
+Protomario I got Bronchitis the day I watched this video. But luckily I'm not the superstitious type! Btw I love your ability to constantly pump out gaming news videos.
But Proto! It takes a while to get get over bronchitis, so it would've most likely takes 2-3 weeks for Wally to be able to go out and train, and in the game I doubt that amount of time passed. I mean he basically moved and instantly got better, plus he would still be coughing after getting over it. Am I right?
he can also see ho-oh and asked to get rid of my sickness thus mystery solved cause ash said at the last episode of johto series .. ho oh is going to hoenn then says lets go there and team rocket catches him
I have asthma, and while it will never go away completely, is completely possible for serious asthma to become very mild. the things wally does could help his asthma A LOT. he gets a pokemon ( a pet ), which causes allergies at first, but eventually strengthens lungs, travels and exercises, and spends prolonged time in dirty air, which is horrible at first, but your lungs will eventually get used to it. plus, many asthma cases in kids fade away when they become teenagers.
I have a question that could possibly be a theory for your next Pokemon Theory series. Can Pokemon understand people? And If so, why can't they speak English or Japanese? Because I'm sure that if they can understand what their trainer is saying, they can speak normally. And they've shown in nearly every episode of Pokemon that a pokemon will follow their trainers orders without problem. I know I'm not the only one who wonders this.
I'm currently watching the first season of Pokemon, and in the episode The Maiden's Peak, the ghastly that was haunting everyone could speak English clearly. So i believe most Pokemon can, they probably just don't have the right vocal structure to speak as humans do.
Tevyn J Ah yes you do bring up a good point, but my way of debunking that would be, in that episode, Nurse Joy I think it was, said that the candles would show the lost spirits where to go if they get lost, so maybe the gastly's were spirits of dead humans. That's my opinion, I could be wrong however
Darth Shin Pokemon can talk English, they just need to learn it. The "Pokemon language" is their natural way of speaking, but as shown with Meowth they can learn English if they work at it. Also, I believe the ghost Pokemon, other than those who's pokedex entry says otherwise, are the ghosts of Pokemon, or are possibly born as such, since in the first games in Lavender town the Marowak was not a ghost after using the Silph Scope but looked like a live Pokemon, and it doesn't really make sense for a Pokemon graveyard to be filled with human ghosts and not Pokemon ghosts.
my little brother used to have asthma but he hasn't experienced any symptoms for about five years now. but maybe he's just better now.. as a child he would have very bad asthma attacks, we had to take him to the hospital a few times because of it. we still have his asthma inhaler (or whatever it's called) but i can't recall the last time he needed it. we live in the city and never moved so i don't think it was the fresh air.
BUUUUUUUT PROTTTOOOOOO..... Good morning. :) if red catches mewtwo then why was there a new mewtwo movie where it mega evolves. Was that before he caught mewtwo.....?
David Bejarano Pokémon has multiple universes. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire address this during the post game acknowledging earlier titles and their lack of mega evolutions. Perhaps it may have been an alternate universe from Origins. Or maybe it's another example of how vague the timelines in Pokémon are.
He wears an inhaler as a pendant. So its either constant use of that inhaler if its Asthma, or he carried it around from Petalburg when he needed it then attached a Galladite to it once he started his adventure.
many people outgrow asthma, it can also be countered with exercise and spending time in the right air quality areas. Especially if your asthma is caused by specific allergens. you can also have temporary asthma as the result of bronchidus
another factor to some health related issues is that our mental health can affect our physical health. Wally's immune system could in all reality get stronger from the confidence gained from Brandon's help in catching pokemon and giving him a rival. This is only strengthened by the fact that small health issues such as minor colds cause coughing and such and can be something a person can catch again and again. the dirty environment only agitates illnesses. So new found confidence, clean air, and and over all better mental state can help improve health allowing for Wally to do what he's done.

I actually had pneumonia in September and I had to go in the hospital I also have asthma.

is anyone else gonna ignore the fact that Wally's original hometown was in the west of Hoenn( Petalburg)? and, due to some trouble in his neighbourhood, he had to live with his auntie and uncle in Verdanturf where there was *fresh air*? Coincidence?

Did you just say Asthma is rare? Asthma is VERY common.
And some people grow out of it, like myself. (Yes, I had an inhaler)
So did I
No, he said that asthma is rarely obtained post-birth, and that it is nearly always inherited.
what if the only way he made it to victory road is because when he defeated the 8th gym he had a chronic asthma attack and medical attention was to late and he died. I should know because I have had 4 near death experiences with asthma myself :-(
Same
He never said it was rare just so you know, he said it's a rarely acquired and that most who have it are born with it.
plot twist: he had an inhaler
Lol that could be true
BuliFanatico Guess why his mega stone is a necklace!
So he can't lose his inhaler!
Lol that is a possibility tho!
That's pretty much the way the manga explained it.
True, very true. But ashes, there in the air and would still affect him a bit, but not enough to to stop him.
I think Wally could be a list relative if N. Remember N was adopted by Genesis when he was a kid, and they both have the same green hair, pale skin and grey eyes. N was separated from Wally and his family somehow.
+mouna3242 woah dude
+Eurasian Bear well keep in mind that genesis also had green hair pale skin and gray eyes so wlly could also be related to genesis too
Cool I just posted a comment about N is Wally as an adult but you said it quicker and you said it better great job.
N is wally's older brother
+mouna3242 no
It could be Cystic Fibrosis, a buildup of mucus in the lungs.
But the thing is that cystic fibrosis is lifelong and therefore Wally didn't have it because he wouldn't have recovered.
What if his real illness was depression? Verdanturf has nice fresh air, beautiful music, the scenery is amazing. And the start of him getting better was you and his Ralts? His first two friends.
+Silver (Zarek AQ) That is great thinking (no i'm not a hater)
I love it.
That makes sense, considering Ralts senses emotions.
It's simple,
He used fly
You can't fly somewhere you haven't been before in Pokemon.
MysticRainbowDragon that's only the main character.
the rules might not be there for other characters
+BowlingGlaceon His only flying pokemon is Altaria and he couldn't have gotten a Swablu until he at least got to Fallarbor Town. And the only way to get there is to go through Route 113, which is literally covered in volcanic ash. Not to mention your pokemon can't learn fly until they get the HM for it and they can't use it outside of battle until they get the proper gym badge.
then he can fly!
+John Hurley how do you know if the rules apply for other characters? Wally could of traded something for a swablu
Basically I have a weakness in my lungs which I need to watch throughout my life.
.........
Same
Same I have bad asthma and I the fastest kid in my school and run marathons so call me a miracle kid if you want. Im eleven
+pckelkins ...so stfu
get it? Read ur last 2 words if u don't
I do lots of running and I'm ok and I don't get it. I'm only 11
What if wally suffered from deppresion?
4:30 - He has no healing moves
Roselia: Knows synthesis
Roselia: Am I a joke to you
No healing moves that can heal WALLY not itself
Walies "sickness" was depression. If you play the original games and talk to his parents, they talk about how happy they are that you gave him a reason to "live." This of course means that he was suicidal and when they moved to a new area, it was to start fresh and try to get Wallies mind off of his depression.
It could be a sickness unique to the Pokemon universe????
Pokerus?
TurtleCraftZ1 A rare case of a human contracting pokerus, and maybe his stats were improved because of it?
TurtleCraftZ1 Which makes me wonder if pokerus is a genetically engineered virus, designed to improve a pokemon's stats.
***** Maybe
wallyitis that what he has
Plot twist: wally sprinted so fast between locations he never got stopped by cutscenes, pokemon, trainers, or anything else
BUT PROTO!
I used to have asthma but now I can run and be in dusty areas no problem
TheMortalGamer ^ Same here.
used to is there a cure ?
Amari Wallen A lot of people can have Asthma when they're young and then grow out of it.
Amari Wallen no but asthma can become dormant and not cause much of a problem for long periods of time but it doesnt just Go away you might not have had an attack in 20 years and then have a MASSIVE asthma attack
3fatkid yup I had that
I had asthma. I outgrew it. I didn't recover from it. I'm just too old to have that shit.
+Canis Major i like that attitude
I currently have asthma but i think i'll outgrow it too since i haven't had any thing bad that is asthma related, I have an inhalor but i dont use it much.got more sick when i used the medication than right now that i dont use it much
😁
You don't outgrow asthma. It's just the most misdiagnosed illness.
+Canis Major That profile pic really matches what you said! XD
As a former asthmatic, I have grown out of asthma and it is possible so Wally probably grew out of it as well
You forgot to point something out Proto.
PLOT TWIST! He was faking so you'd feel sorry for him.
Son Gotenks DAYUM that's cold as F
Oh god
ProtoMario BUT PROTO! What if Wally is N... o.O
As a victim of bronchitis, I totally agree, these symptoms add up.
It could have also been TB, Tuberculosis. TB is a fungal infection of the lungs. And can be cured with cleaner air. Also the ash particles in the air around volcanos have been theorized to help clean out the fungi in the lungs that causes TB.
Well, roselia can have aromatherapy
XD
Hay fever as well. I guess the Pokemon world is bad for me,
+Meepdacreeper Good point.
actually, in the Manga it talks about how his ralts was healing him, and apparently ralts can learn heal pulse (let it be known, that the 4 move limit is only a game mechanic, and pokemon don't actually forget moves to learn new ones)
+Meepdacreeper Decatty can have Healbell too
+ProtoMario Having Bronchitis really sucks.
And volcanic ash isn't good either
What if he just drunk water after all it heals by 50+ hp points
Caleb Cavitt I also had that theory dude, cheers!!
If he went there for the last of his chemo, was cleared as being in remission, and was back to being relatively healthy, he might feel like he owes it to himself to have his journey as quickly as he could, in case his sickness came back.
of maybe his ralts used future sight and forsee the cure in the future for him to make it.....
+Rachael Lefler holy shit 10/10
I also think that "The clean air is good for his sickness" seems like the kind of euphemistic way a Japanese parent would dance around talking about the actual issue, if you think about the way Japanese culture does that with anything negative.
+Rachael Lefler nice job :)
+Rachael Lefler Why would a 10 year old want to do heroin in the first place?
@Rachael Leftler that's a Creepypasta
Fun fact: the flowers you see when encountering wally are red spider lilys these flowers are known for one thing
*finale goodbyes*
And to make this more darker these flowers grow when people will be meeting eachother one finale time. ..
Think about it this way:
You're perfectly healthy.
As much as I love Wally, am I the only one who realized people are kinda fawning him? I think it's a little tedious.
As a Asthmatic I am pretty sure there is no cure best case scenario you don't have to take medicine and breathe decently.
you know protomario 4kids is dead so you dont have to put 4kids in the copyright thing
I thought Warner Bros. owned 4Kids? :/
ok didnt know that but 4kids died so
plus the the rights went to vortexx which also died
ratchetandclankfan2 I remember Vortex being alive for 1 week for me :(
+SciencePup TheAmericanJoe yeah vortexx was the reason i woke up early
Yup Rip vortexx your time was short but you where a infinite amount of times better then 4kids yet ....
"None of his Pokemon has healing moves," says proto as he pulls up a picture of Wallys roselia with synthesis
Ralts and Kirlia could have used some kind of special ability to heal Wally. Also they do have teleport early on so getting around isn't a big deal.
This was an amazing theory and I have to say, I think you’re right.
On a slightly unrelated note, I have chronic bronchitis, which means that I’m stuck with it for life even though it can be treated.
wally has crippling depression
wally has osteoporosis
Ded Puul Wally is gay
DOES WALLY IS GAY?
I couldn't breathe well when standing either, all you have the strength to do is lay down sleep.
where you in a family who smoked
Taels The Fax Machine No. Bronchitis is a virus, nothing to do with smoking.
Whitewing9709 risks are incrased be being around smokers and ammonia
Whitewing9709
how you feeling now
SymbioteNx379 Oh, it's been forever since I had it. I have a new condition now, but I don't have bronchitis anymore.
I feel the need to point out that it is fairly common for asthma to go away on its own. Many people simply grow out of it. I do agree that it isn't likely what Wally had, since it doesn't just go away overnight
When you say God Bless it makes me want to cry. You are so awesome 😄😄
I love the verdanterf (or however you spell it) theme! its probably one of my favorite songs in a TBRPG.
Some rare cases exist but they are rare for a reason.
it is still plausible that he had asthma. Many people eventually 'grow out' of the disease as the lungs develop.
Heres a theory for you how did mew two's pokeballs work in the movie
Ikr
Mewtwo gives zero fucks about the rules of the universe
Like this comment so Proto will see it.
BUT PROTO
wally doesn't own a koffing OR a weezing
I've had bronchitis and I'm at constant risk of it returning. I don't see any flaws in this theory and it even makes me like Wally more.
In my game Brendan didn't do anything to help Wally, May did :P
Had Wally's asthma gone into remission while he was in Verdanturf, it would appear to be "cured", while his Ralts would ensure it stayed that way by protecting him from anything that might aggravate his asthma.
i actualy recoverd you can grow out of it
ghguifgudffugggshdsbjshsadgfh screw grama
You are partially right about Asthma, I have it, but it isn't as severe in the mild cases. I can climb a mountain or hold my breath, running is only impeded by my limp leg. You are right about the sickness and the attack though. But, asthma can be treated with medicine, not cured but endured.
I think Verdenterf Town has healing air caused by the Roselias that u can catch in the nearby route, anybody agree? Cx No? Okay /.\ lol
Having bronchitis myself, I can confirm this. It can stay dormant for years and then poof, attack. So long as you keep away from smoke and whatnot, you'll be fine. But it is a major damper on your childhood ^_^;
This is a plausible theory that you made. Good job (no sarcasm)! :)
This is a pretty good theory.
That sounds like a real theory! +ProtoMario
i think wally had pokerus...its the only sickness in the pokemom world. also it explains how quickly it healed and his crazy fast growth in strength. In Diamond Pearl and Platinum, there are books that say people evolved from pokemon meaning it could still be possible for humans in the pokemon world to get pokerus
A lot of children grow out of their asthma. However when adults develop asthma they keep it for life generally. I developed asthma as an adult.
I have asthma now and it's winter and every winter my asthma gets really bad so... another winter of good old asthma...
Ellie Christie i'm in Hawaii now so it is relly warm here
No,no,no... What ya didn't know is that Wally was a dope fiend and he got TUBERCULOSIS,so he had to move to a place with fresher air!!
wallys sickness turned him into 2 year old
Ok, wow. Med student here, you absolutely totally wrong about asthma.
Asthmatics can absolutely walk and run and do everything that non-asthmatics to do, even to a professional level. Many athletes have asthma.
i thought he was just socially awkward and by "healthier" they meant making friends and traveling the region
3:22 I have asthma and I don't have very much trouble breathing. I was also on top of a mountain once with only a coat on and I didn't get sick
Asthma can be acquired from allergens so he probably allergic to the environment.
+Connor Reichenbach something that happens to me is that when is like a week sunny and the next week is full with torments it give me a asthma attack.
gulliver CHANEL dude I know the woes, otherwise I wouldn't be acting like I know anything.
When I walk in the city I spray any smoker with a high pressure water gun in the mouth
Wally got raped by a Raticate and now he has PokéAiDS.
*****
Debatable
***** ; )
I had asthma and moving away from the city's fumes and pollution pretty much cured me. I'm so healthy now that even going back to the city now doesn't bother me. I always thought, and still think, that he had asthma.
One problem: you can outgrow asthma but that takes years
In the Manga Wally still needs a special suit for breathing. So from that view Asthma still is possible.
So... Wallys down with the sickness... oh wa a a ah.
thank you
Death Kid
ur welcome
+Protomario I got Bronchitis the day I watched this video. But luckily I'm not the superstitious type! Btw I love your ability to constantly pump out gaming news videos.
Oh shit... I can't live in the pokemon world ;-; I have both Asthma AND Bronchitis
Same. I'd need an Aromatherapy Pokémon around all the time.
are u that athiest guy.
Yes, that's me.
Umm... No. I'm not a homosexual as it turns out.
+Hater912 Why do religious people spread so much hate?
Well I did have asthma, technically I still do but without the symptoms so he could have just outgrown it. He is what 10?
But then again the whole Volcanic Ash and holding your breath like that could have brought it back
But Proto! It takes a while to get get over bronchitis, so it would've most likely takes 2-3 weeks for Wally to be able to go out and train, and in the game I doubt that amount of time passed. I mean he basically moved and instantly got better, plus he would still be coughing after getting over it. Am I right?
Altaria has natural cure... And Roselia can learn aromatherapy.
I think wally was just on his period for the first couple of gyms.
Kesha InMyCasa HAH thats gr8
he can also see ho-oh and asked to get rid of my sickness thus mystery solved cause ash said at the last episode of johto series .. ho oh is going to hoenn then says lets go there and team rocket catches him
But I though Wally had diarrhea. :(
I think it's defense
I'm sorry I laughed I'm an asshole xD
This is too funny whoops.
Yeah, it's not like he took 10 years more than he needed to telling us that it had to not be asthma.
Little Green your picture is your face
Darth Shin I AM GROOT
Darth Shin Animals understand some of the words we say (such as their names) but can't speak it. It could be similar to that.
my little brother used to have asthma but he hasn't experienced any symptoms for about five years now. but maybe he's just better now.. as a child he would have very bad asthma attacks, we had to take him to the hospital a few times because of it. we still have his asthma inhaler (or whatever it's called) but i can't recall the last time he needed it.
we live in the city and never moved so i don't think it was the fresh air.
I have asthma
Read. The. Manga.
He was confirmed in the pokemon manga to have asthma, dont ask me how it makes sense but its official
***** how are there more than 1 mewtwo?
The theory Proto did was that in ancient times lots of mewtwos were created and that when they created mewtwo they were following old ways. Look it up
He wears an inhaler as a pendant.
So its either constant use of that inhaler if its Asthma, or he carried it around from Petalburg when he needed it then attached a Galladite to it once he started his adventure.
My friend kept getting pissed whenever i would refer to wallly as "cancer boy," or "the KANCER KID."
many people outgrow asthma, it can also be countered with exercise and spending time in the right air quality areas. Especially if your asthma is caused by specific allergens. you can also have temporary asthma as the result of bronchidus
"pokemon theory"? more like webMD...
another factor to some health related issues is that our mental health can affect our physical health.
