I recall hearing a theory once that Gengar is actually a dead Clefable due to their outlines being similar with the exception of Gengar not having Clefable's wings and its "hair" being spiky.
I always thought the Alola starters where themed as actors in a play. Decidueye being the rouge hero like Robinhood Incinaroar being the villain And Primarina being the damsel in distress. Like the Galar starters I thought had the theme of childhood friends/ school friends Cinderace: The Jock who became a famous athelete. Rillaboom: The young music lover who got in a band Intelleon: a young nerdy cry baby who learned to control his emotions, and then got a glow up, secret agent style. In addition to the first, shelldar loses its shell when it bites a slowpoke. Maybe they wanted a ninjask/shedinja style. Level up in team and free slot gives u a ghadtly
I was thinking the same thing when he was talking about it. Obviously the technical limitations of gen one was great, and they couldn't get it to work. Later they did and we got shedinja. So slowpoke takes the shell from a shelder leaving behind a ghastly. Probably a different name but still. I could really see something like that happening during development. A good idea being scrapped by technical limitations only to use it later. Gamefreak does do that all the time.
Litten and its line look and feel like they don't quite fit with the region. Let me explain; when Sun and Moon were on the horizon of release, I decided to do a little research and found some interesting things out. First and foremost, I decided to see what each of the starters could mean in regards to what they are based on; Poplio and its line are based on seals, and the Monk Seal is an endangered species native to the Hawaiian archipelago (so there's your geographical reason for the line) but they mean something significant in Hawaiian culture, the Monk Seal is a symbol of immortality; Owls are arguable of great importance to Hawaiian culture, there have been several different species on the island, and the most notable (the Hawaiian Stilted Owl) went extinct centuries ago, but the owl is seen as a Guardian and protector in Hawaiian culture, owls symbolize Protection in Hawaiian culture. By contrast, cats don't appear in any lore or mythology in Hawaiian culture; cats have no symbolism anywhere in the culture; for all intents and purposes, cats are effectively an invasive species to the Hawaiian islands, an invader to the archipelago, and the evolutions don't have to have a correlation with anything you would find in Hawaii's native wildlife or indigenous culture. So, what if the Litten line was a design concept for a Pokemon you were meant to catch out in the wild or something being worked on for a future Pokemon generation but the team's inability to come up with a fitting Fire-type starter for the region resulted in them shifting Litten and its line into that position.
Your argument for litten works in reverse too. He's the "heel" archetype because hes an invasive species. Thats generally seen as a bad thing just like "heels" are the bad guys in wrestling.
It makes sense with the “theme” that the comment above you said. Popplio line is a damsel-in-distress because the seals are going extinct, while Litten line is the villain because cats are the invasive species
I’ve always thought snorunt is the woman who died on the mountain (the cloak the pokemon seems to hold around itself), whereas Glalie is the frozen decoration of the men (the same circular body of snoring encased inside a frozen cage).
The pokedex does mention that it's only a legend that froslass is the soul of a woman. Ancient poke people probably came up with all these random legends cause they could not understand froslass' existence as you require a dawn stone for its evolution. Similar to the one about Kadabra being a psychic boy.
Well we do know that the Kadabra entry isn't talking about an actual event or legend, but is just referring to the famous in-universe short story, "The Transformation" as stated in the official 1996 Japanese only book, "Pocket Monsters Encyclopedia". Limited text in in red and blue's pokedex meant they couldn't really explain this lore very well and ended up just confusing people
Could make sense that Kadabra's name was intentionally misspelled and supposed to be Kid Abra instead, referencing the whole psychic boy that turned into a pokemon, or rather just a story to play on that word similarity
@@Volkaroar one month late but what? They're based on a famous magician whose catch line was "Abra, kababra, alakazam". They literally got sued by him for "using his likeness"

@@EpicRandomness555 and they actually pull inspiration from Robin Hood, A Professional wrestler (it’s classification is the Heel pokemon), and an opera singer/mermaid (which you hit spot on)
Possible theory for rowlet is that is was meant to be a starter for galar but that region got pushed back a generation but they liked the design of rowlet so much that they kept him in. If rowlet was meant to be based off Robin Hood( a character from English folklore) it would have fit the theme of galar nicely as a piece of British culture alongside intelion and scorbunny.
This was my thought exactly. Rowlet and dartrix both have that "distinguished gentlemen" kinda feel, and decidueye is definitely robin hood. Considerinding that galar is a region heavily inspire by england and scotland, two of the regions who "fight" over whether robin was a scitts or englishman, it just makes sense. This one might be a stretch but robinhoids whole thing is take from the rich, give to the poor and its usually depicted as him robing the monarchy....leon funky clothes and chairmans rose whole symbolism of "being king" and what not...it makes more sense to me that rowlet was originally for galar. It could still fit kalos for sure, but it feels more like galar to me.
I've actually seen all of the Alolan starters as kind of a continuation of the RPG theme as well. Decidueye: Ranger (like you said) Incineroar: Barbarian (even gets Intimidate) Primarina: Bard Pokémon tend to pull from multiple inspirations, so idk if it's intentional. BONUS: Rillaboom could also be a druid.
Except for the fact that Ghastly and Cloyster’s faces are both black and round, I never saw much of a similarity between them since their eyes are not completely the same and Cloyster has more teeth while Ghastly seems to only have two vampire-like canines in its mouth.
I firmly believe that frosslas started as a concept for an evolution to Jinx, due to Magmar and Electabuzz getting an evolution, but due to the bad reputation of Jinx, they took the concept and plastered it to another pokemon.
I probably would have used rowlet as a kalos starter. It actually would have faired well if they both swapped. Chespin would have had an advantage all the way to mimikyu. As for Rowley he definitely would give froakie a run for best starter with advantages on nearly every gym, trainer and elite 4
On theory 2, if you add mimkyus grotesque and deadly ability to kill with it's true form on sight, and tangela's true form having never being seen, they might be related in some odd way to the theory 2 pokémon. If that is true, than that would be an excellent idea that would expand on theory 2
I have a theory. Bot really a theory more of a thought. But since there is a lot of pokemon that came in to being because a human died in a strange way or just straight up transformed into a pokemon, that means that there is a invisible force of nature that can corrupt and change corpses/weak humans into cursed beings(pokemon)
Except the eyes, the mouth, and every other detail on the face, it looks identical! No, but seriously, Gastly's eyes are way wider and Cloysyer lacks Gastly's fangs and the folds. The only thing Gastly shares with Cloyster is the fact that their heads are balls
You know, it was really random that the shell on Slowbro is confirmed to be a shellder, but it makes sense if you think that the shell fell off and was taken by the slowbro
I’ve literally never heard that Ghastly was a dead Cloyster. I honestly liked the second more than the first. Maybe Froslass was actually possessed by the ghost of the woman that died upon evolution. That would explain the ghost type addition.
Personally, I always thought that Gastly was actually the result of an exploded Koffing. Would make sense cause it used to be poison type, and while still retaining the toxic gases it becomes a ghost type as well. With no body to return to it basically just becomes a new pokemon. Koffing also has the same fangs that Gastly does and other visual similarities in the same places and is mostly just a face pokemon. It lines up better than Shellder/Cloyster as a result. As for why not beside each other in the dex, well Marowak isn't beside Kangaskhan in the dex too but the rumour was that it was supposed to evolve into Kangaskhan but that got changed up. Chances are, similar case scenario for Koffing too before Weezing and Haunter were conceived.
Something about ‘confirmed they are legit as can be’ really rubs me the wrong way, dude you know damn well that’s promo and there’s a huge likelihood your platform influenced that ‘great mystery’ box. I would have respected you more if you opened a box of duds, there’s a predatory element too due to your audience and target demo being so young.
I think I know why Rowlett would have been scrapped as a Kalos starter. If Rowlett had been one of the Kalos starters along with Froakie and Fennekin, all three would have specialized in ‘special attack’ moves. No region has ever had all three starters each specialize in the same stats- Thus, they decided to scrap Rowlett, probably because it seemed the easiest to deal with in the future, in favor or Chespin, possibly a Pokémon designed for regular gameplay.
As far as that Rowlet theory goes - The other Alolan starters also fit the RPG/D&D theme. While Incineroar obviously is a wrestler, you can interpret it as a martial artist or figher easily, and Primarina OBVIOUSLY is a bard whose milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard.
for the first one about shellder and gastly, i have a thought that could use to help "prove" it's a legit theory. In the anime, they talk about how slowpoke evolves when a shellder grabs it's tail. what if gastly was meant to be the "byproduct" of when you used a shellder to evolve a slowpoke. maybe they deemed it too complicated back in gen 1and scratched it and just made gastly the pre evo to haunter and gengar. absolutely love these theories!!
I have a theory for the ghastly split evolution theory. I think that the way that the evolution would have worked. I think if shellder evolved normally it work turn into cloister, but if shellder fainted and gain enough exp to evolve after the battle was won, it would evolve into ghastly. What do you think?
I have a theory I really like: I think the Unovan Lilligant is the result of breeding a Hisuian Lilligant with a Whimsicott. The Unovan Lilligant not only looks like a Whimsicott, it has its personality as well.
I personally really liked the gengar theory of being clefairys shadow. It might not be true but its one of the only fan headcanons that actually fully fits and makes sense to me. I also feel that decidueye was meant for another region, but more so feel like it was intended for galar, but moved ahead for alola. They made it fit cause owls seems to fit in everyones irl folklore some where, but robinhood is literally from europe. Its been long depated exactly where in europe, but general consensus points to most likely around yorkshire england, with runner ups being somewhere in scottland and some say france. (Yay history.) Outside of that, rowlet and dartrix have that classical "distinguished gentlemen" school boy look, to "take down the monarchy"...while the only connection that makes sense for the alola region is that decidueye is ghist type because Hawaii has an extinct owl species they once regarded as something along the lines of a guardian spirit....does it fit? Yeah. But decidueyes design and feel screams europe to me, while grookey definitely feels more alola/hawaii to me, especially with how much music and drums seems to fits more with hawaian culture. Edit for additional info and clarification on grookey: i forgot that not alot of people know monkeys along with most animals, in particular of the mammal species, arent actually native to hawaii, and are actually invasive species. The only two mamals that are native to hawaii are monk seals and a species of bat. The reason why i feel grookey fits more with alola than galar, is because the alolan starters definitely have more of a circus animal vibe. Grookey seems more on par with being apart of the circus as aposed to a rockstar(?) And since most circus animals tend to be of the exoctic or at the very least "not native" element when in a circus, it seems to fit more snuggly in there with the strongman/wrestling cat and singing mermaid than rowlet imho.
But gastly is made of only gas and souls, cloister is not. How do you explain snorunt evolving into froslass if they were all women originally? If they held back decidueye one generation would they hold it back again and put it in Galar (based on England, where Robin Hood is from)?
Your videos are usualy good but i feel like 50% of this videos script was just padding, you kept saying the same thing over and over again, and due to how you keep repeating yourself i don't think i can watch this kind of content anymore.
I kinda wonder, is that possible that Game Freak have some sort of pokemon archive? Like some designs that can be used later. I mean, they leaked gen1 and gen 2 beta pokemons, so...
You forgot to mention the fact that if chespin and rowlett swapped gens, they would better fit the typings of the starter trios. Gen 6 would have Grass/Ghost, Fire/Psychic, & Water/Dark while gen 7 would have Grass/Fighting, Fire/Dark, & Water/Fairy. This would mean that the starters' secondary typings would be super effective against the starter they're weak to. You also left out the fact that Incineroar & Primarina are also based on rpg classes (berserker & healer), so if rowlett and chespin were to swap gens, they would still fit the rpg class theme.
So here's my issue. It's a chicken and egg scenario for me.. if Snorunt evolves into Froslass, but Froslass crested t first Snorunt, where did the first Froslass come from? Are we to Assume Charizard came before Charmander?
According to a Pokédex entries, they implied that Froslass came into being after a woman got lost and died on a snowy mountain, her vengeful sprit possessing an icicle to be reborn as this Pokémon. I think there was also this dark theory that implied that when you use a Dawn Stone to evolve a female Snowrunt, the stone gives off enough heat that it “kills” the Snowrunt to make it evolve into a Ghost type.
@@EndlessNight025 I get that the entry is the in game mythology for how the Pokemon came into being. But we're talking about a theory, that is being based off of another theory. It's like putting a hat on a hat.
Am I the only one that sees how Gengar’s body shape is similar to Cloyster? The spikes at the top of the Cloyster are Gengars ears, the spikes on the bottom are Gengars legs, and the spikes on the left and right turn into Gengars arms. I feel like that adds even more to the Gastly theory
@@Calex. the theory is about the original intent behind the designs, so it DOES matter ! They definitely could have retconned this into the modern lore but they never did. (an opposite example is the ditto=mew theory that doesnt fit the 1st gen games creation process and timing. It 100% wasnt a thing back then, but it was added into the canon in Let's go through small details such as ditto's location)
For the first theory (which I love btw) it also makes sense as haunter and shellder share a similar… tongue. They both have an animation where their tongues are just flopping about! Great vid btw :)
To add on to the first theory, this might not be a significant thing but a key feature about Shellder and Haunter is their large tongues. Not to mention, both of their names also end in -er which is yet another similarity. Edit: Now that I think about it, Gastly, Haunter and Gengar ALL have rather larger, more significant tongues (just like shellder) and all of their main abilities focus on their tongues. Idk, just something I noticed
Wait a second, the moment you brought up Gen 6 I was thinkin “but even their secondary types create a perfect triangle, no way” BUT Decidueye IS Grass/Ghost which would have fit perfectly fine with Fire/Psychic and Water/Dark; it would have been like Gen 4 where each starter was super effective against both of the others Idk man, that one really made sense to me. However, one of the three starters would have needed a massive sprite redesign and stat change because if Decidueye, Greninja, and Delphox made up 6 then none of the starters would be bulky - and that’s a necessary component to a starter trio, right? Now that I think about it maybe that’s not as true as I’ve always thought
I always thought that Ghastly was just the ghost of a Cloyster. It made sense to me, it was the spirt and the shell isn't part of that so that's why it doesn't carry over, it's a physical part of the pokemon. Then it explains where ghastly comes from and then it can continue evolving.
Check out the Rare Candy Discord with the link below! Thanks to them for supporting the channel! Hope you all like the theories! 😄 discord.gg/rarecandy
Talk about convergent evolution! Gengar is the shadow of Clefable, a dead human & the final evolution of a dead Cloyster all in 1! Don't get me started on Haunter possessing & getting trapped in Apricots.
Oh great, thanks for giving my life long irrational fear of Glalie substance to ACTUALLY be afraid of 😂😂😂😭😭😭 Posessed, grotesque half-human pokemon?!?!?!? (Whose jaws break upon mega evolution???) No thank you!!
Idk, I feel like archer/ranger is too similar to thief/rogue to make a distinct trio. A tank makes the theming feel a lot more deliberate. I guess you could argue that that’s why it was changed but personally I don’t think it fits
The first time i saw Gastly and Cloyster, I thought that Cloyster was the evolution of Gastly.. aaand then i met Haunter, Gengar and the pokedex numbers and was surprised, legit.
a wild theory ive always had is that mimikyu is actually a ghost missingno. ive always thought this because first off, it says mimikyu originated around 20 or so years ago, when pokemon first came out in the pokedex (for ultra moon at least). secondly, its said its existence outside the cloak has made people become very sick and die just by looking at it, which reminded me of the whole lavender town theory. i also think/thought this because of its little tail and its claws, as well as the its eyes glowing (and how the ghost sprite’s eyes are white) and in the anime when jesse’s mimikyu’s cloth got torn, it had smoke coming out of it, and the ghost also has smoke around it
Huh. Okay, if we go under the assumption that Rowlet was made for Gen 6 originally, maybe it's because his type threw the balance. Every member of that final trio is super effective towards one other twice. Fire/Psychic, Water/Dark, and Grass/Fighting. Grass/Ghosg would throw that.
Things about the theories: 1. The visual similarities between gen 1 Pokemons are too many. Haunter eyes are similar with Voltorb, also theorising if Voltorb is a Pokeball got animated by ghost spirit. I mean, they are starting out making mons. Of course if the similarity is taken too literally, there will be only like 5 true pokemon line in gen 1. 2. Well, the youkai inspiring Froslass is actually about the Snow Woman, of course it will have human characteristics. I mean, many of the lore of Pokemon depicting man to be turned into Pokemon, Kadabra for example. 3. The owl inspiring Rowlett-line is endangered owl native to Hawaii. Even if the theming fit the Kalos region, the origin is too different. So, no. The archery theme is truly RPG-esque, but the truly 3 starting class is always close ranged like Thief or Rogue. I mean, look at the first Final Fantasy. The bows are used in the second game, meaning that it somewhat a non-starting class (even if in future RPGs, Archers are starting class).
Theory 1 - I gotta admit, the connection is suspicious, but I don't think this theory is true. There are many questionable evolutions/species in Gen 1 that makes one wonder is it was changed late in development, and this is one is one of those. However, I don't think Ghastly ever has been a evolution of the Shelldon line. It just doesn't make a lot of sense. Theory 2 - Nah mate this ain't it. The backstory is cool but doesn't make sense at all, and it's kinda fucked up honestly. Theory 3 - This is easily one of the best theories you have covered in this series so far. It's stupid but makes a lot of sense. It would also explain why Chespin's design is so weak compared to other starters in the series, since it was a backup plan/rushed.
My theory was that rowlett was a kalos starter because of its secondary typing. Hear me out, greninja had a water/dark type and delphox had a fire/pyschic typing. And since rowlett had a secondary ghost typing. I immediately thought the ghost/dark/pyschic type triangle.
Ok hear me out right but Shellder with a Cloister/Gastly spilt evolution. Then Gastly with Haunter/Voltorb split evolution. You have a choice of Cloister, Gengar or Electrode in the same line.
So, if Gastly is a Cloyster, Voltorb is a Haunter, and Gengar is Clefable's shadow, then that means that, theoretically, there should be a way to evolve Cloyster into Voltorb, and then evolve Voltorb into Clefable.
I always thought Gastly and Shellder were related somehow. One of the first if not the first move Gastly learns is Lick, showing resemblance to Shellder's most notable appearance, it's tongue.
Except Decidueye is based on the Pueo owl from Hawaii which inhabits the forest and grasslands and is said to be a from ancestral spirits take. Edit: Ah yes fitting the other starter's French theme like the Ninja frog..
Well another theory for ghastly being a shellder split Evo or way to go about it. Like the mantyke Remoraid way to get a mantine. Possibly having need a shelldar and a slowpoke on your team then leveling them up while both in your party gives you slowbro and the split Evo (ghastly) since it's the shelldar that causes slowpoke to evolve into slowbro, easy way to explain how shelldar "dies" and becomes part ghost.
THE SHELL THAT GASTLY LOST BECAUSE THE SHELLDER ON SLOWBRO'S TAIL THE BLACK BALL THING OF SHELLDER IS GONE BUT THE SHELL IS ON SLOWBRO THE SHELL WAS TAKEN IN THE DIVORCE IDC THAT THERE WAS A SCRAPPED SLOWBRO SHELL POKEMON, IT IS A DUMB THEORY FOR A REASON
I know the anime cannon is split off from the games, but in the shorts Gengar directly states that ghost type Pokémon “aren’t ghost” and that “we’re Pokémon”. As detail in the new Pokémon Legends movie saying that the three starters were originally brought into the sinnoh region, instead of originating there to begin with. Just some details worth adding.
The ‘ghastly is a dead cloyster’ theory is fine, but I personally like the ‘cloyster is just a vagina’ theory better. That also would have weird implications if both theories were proven true
One thing not mentioned with the shellder theory that would connect Haunter and Gengar as well is Shellder has his tongue out, a very noticeable characteristic of both Haunter and Gengar. Also Gengar’s toothy grin is closer to Cloyster’s than Gastly’s. Very cool theory that I, in my 25 years fandom of the series, had never heard!
The only reason why I don’t think Rowlet is a Kalos starter is because the current ones have a perfect dual type triangle, and with Decidueye’s ghost secondary typing it throws that off because psychic isn’t super effective against it and dark is super effective against it.
Maybe shellder's split evo was originally cloyster or gastly and then haunter, making clefairy's split evo line clefable or gengar due to you know the theory of gengar being clefable's shadow
But the snow runt one would mean every snow runt would have to be born from a human. But its impossible since they're both born from pokemon. I think it's just wild stories to explain the unexplained in pokemon, not canon, just stories in the world.
I thought the joke of Froslass' origin was that the person recording the first sighting was tricked by her. Consider: a man sees a woman in the snow. He follows her for a while and all of a sudden she's gone. All that's left is a Froslass (because she was disguised as a woman). Naturally the recorder just assumed the woman must have died and turned into this creature
Actually when I was a kid and got my first Pokémon album, I thought Cloyster was the evolution of Gastly because they were so similar and also next to each other
There was a lot of dark potential branch evolution back then. Probably why we ended up with only one Ghost line. Maybe marketing censorship in the end, maybe even why ghosts took a while to branch out.
My favourite terrible theory is that Sword and Shield was a 3DS game ported to the Switch in the last minute. It makes sense to me especially because of how rushed development was.
So 1. Literally a result of art style. May, ash, and Brock m all have the same face but they aren’t related it’s just the art style- besides their faces ARE different specifically the teeth.
What is it with Ghost Pokémon dex entries that need to be the stuff of nightmares Driftloon: Child kidnapper Unovian Yamask: Carry masks that used to be their former faces from when they were still alive. Sinistea and Polteageist: Sometimes let their trainer drink their ghost leaf juice (That’s what their tea is) And now Frosslass is the ghost of a woman who married and may or may not have had Snowrunt and Glaily as her kids with a human? Come on Nintendo and Gamefreak, this is a franchise aimed at children.
Did you really just use the argument that England and France are both European countries for this theory? Grouping the countries of Europe together like that is the most American thing ever lmao

I think that if Gastly was introduced in gen 8 as a split evo for shellder it would have been use shell smash at least 3 times in battle.

Decidueye: Ranger (like you said)
Incineroar: Barbarian (even gets Intimidate)
Primarina: Bard
Pokémon tend to pull from multiple inspirations, so idk if it's intentional.
BONUS: Rillaboom could also be a druid.
I feel like rillaboom is a bard
@@Idk-qi7hv not at all

Congrats on the box wow!
Thanks bro, I was hyped!! 😄
Yeah it actually kinda makes more sense if you swap them.
Greninja would have Lesser Popularity 😭
On theory 2, if you add mimkyus grotesque and deadly ability to kill with it's true form on sight, and tangela's true form having never being seen, they might be related in some odd way to the theory 2 pokémon. If that is true, than that would be an excellent idea that would expand on theory 2
I have a theory. Bot really a theory more of a thought. But since there is a lot of pokemon that came in to being because a human died in a strange way or just straight up transformed into a pokemon, that means that there is a invisible force of nature that can corrupt and change corpses/weak humans into cursed beings(pokemon)
Wow that's a nice theory
And many ghost types fall in it like the yamask line etc
That’s also in line with yokai, creatures from Japanese mythology that a ton of Pokémon draw inspiration from.
Ho-oh could of done the entie/suiciune/raiku thing with these humans.
@@saintzeroinfinity those legendary dog trio were confirmed Pokemon i.e. flareon vaporeon jolteon I suppose
Gastly’s original gen 1 design was not a ball though, just a cloud of gas. If anything they reworked it to look more like clotster
Except the eyes, the mouth, and every other detail on the face, it looks identical!
No, but seriously, Gastly's eyes are way wider and Cloysyer lacks Gastly's fangs and the folds. The only thing Gastly shares with Cloyster is the fact that their heads are balls
in the first gen's sprites Gastly didnt have an inner sphere. it was only a cloud. So the link with Cloyster doesnt make much sense
10 likes and 2 views, Hoop are you a hacker?
You know, it was really random that the shell on Slowbro is confirmed to be a shellder, but it makes sense if you think that the shell fell off and was taken by the slowbro
That also would make the legend in canalave where humans and Pokémon married each other make sense
I’ve literally never heard that Ghastly was a dead Cloyster.
I honestly liked the second more than the first. Maybe Froslass was actually possessed by the ghost of the woman that died upon evolution. That would explain the ghost type addition.
Doubted on the frosslass one. Frosslass is based on the yuki onna
@@kagari1426 Snorunt is based on Yukinko, and the fact that Froslass is based on Yukon-onna is actually kinda genius.
Funnily enough, the first theory is the one I believe the less.
No region has ever had all three starters each specialize in the same stats-
Thus, they decided to scrap Rowlett, probably because it seemed the easiest to deal with in the future, in favor or Chespin, possibly a Pokémon designed for regular gameplay.
1:25 OMG! HE HAS A TOFRUG IN HIS BACKGROUND!!!
I saw that too!
Bro ofc an American would say England = Europe, France = Europe, England = France
More sense than Rowlett theory is the one that Shaymon, it's sky form and Virizon were supposed to be the Gen 6 grass starter.
I have a theory for the ghastly split evolution theory. I think that the way that the evolution would have worked. I think if shellder evolved normally it work turn into cloister, but if shellder fainted and gain enough exp to evolve after the battle was won, it would evolve into ghastly. What do you think?
I have a theory I really like:
I think the Unovan Lilligant is the result of breeding a Hisuian Lilligant with a Whimsicott.
(Yay history.)
Outside of that, rowlet and dartrix have that classical "distinguished gentlemen" school boy look, to "take down the monarchy"...while the only connection that makes sense for the alola region is that decidueye is ghist type because Hawaii has an extinct owl species they once regarded as something along the lines of a guardian spirit....does it fit?
About Gastly and Shellder: Gastly, Haunter and Gengar are know to use the move Lick
But gastly is made of only gas and souls, cloister is not.
How do you explain snorunt evolving into froslass if they were all women originally?
If they held back decidueye one generation would they hold it back again and put it in Galar (based on England, where Robin Hood is from)?
Yk, I can tell if Pokémon cards are fake by just touching them, ive been around them for like 10 years, and I’m 13
I mean, they leaked gen1 and gen 2 beta pokemons, so...
ah yes, the classic English Robin Hood legend would make perfect sense for a France themed region because Europe
So that’s why Gastly licks stuff, Shellder always has its tongue out
You forgot to mention the fact that if chespin and rowlett swapped gens, they would better fit the typings of the starter trios.
Me And My Asian Wife (Maya) Are On Our Honeymoon Right Now, It’s Just The Two Of Us.
I don't buy a single one of these theories. No wonder they're terrible.
That also could be why he learns ice punch. Having the connection to water
Just have a look at gen1's sprites. The theory is cool and all but it doesnt work with how they used to look
It's interesting because fan theories also theorize that Gengar is the shadow/ghost of a Clefable
@@H2SO4pyro yeah but Pokémon changes things all the time lol so it doesn’t really matter
@@Calex. the theory is about the original intent behind the designs, so it DOES matter !
Wait a second, the moment you brought up Gen 6 I was thinkin “but even their secondary types create a perfect triangle, no way” BUT Decidueye IS Grass/Ghost which would have fit perfectly fine with Fire/Psychic and Water/Dark; it would have been like Gen 4 where each starter was super effective against both of the others
Idk man, that one really made sense to me.

Yea!!!
I don't believe snorunt and glalie are half human now if you were talking about froslass then I would believe you

Huh, that first theory makes a heck of a lot of sense now that I think about it
From 2-3 days i have noticed that some youtubers are not using "includes paid promotion" tag. Why is it?
The first time i saw Gastly and Cloyster, I thought that Cloyster was the evolution of Gastly.. aaand then i met Haunter, Gengar and the pokedex numbers and was surprised, legit.
a wild theory ive always had is that mimikyu is actually a ghost missingno.
ive always thought this because first off, it says mimikyu originated around 20 or so years ago, when pokemon first came out in the pokedex (for ultra moon at least). secondly, its said its existence outside the cloak has made people become very sick and die just by looking at it, which reminded me of the whole lavender town theory. i also think/thought this because of its little tail and its claws, as well as the its eyes glowing (and how the ghost sprite’s eyes are white) and in the anime when jesse’s mimikyu’s cloth got torn, it had smoke coming out of it, and the ghost also has smoke around it
Wow Japan made a whole folktale called the yukiona dedicated to anime yandere,s Japan must really love it when anime girls turn into yandere,s
Rowlett is based on an extinct Hawaiian owl species
Also just realised that this is Dartrix's name inspiration
Things about the theories:
Let's goo!!! Another Terrible Pokemon theory video....
For the Gastly/Shelley theory, I'm glad that Gastly is part of a different family. It's too underwhelming as a final evolution.
The rowlet one is so unbelievably false. Everything you said applies even more to galar LOL.
The Gastly theory doesn't hold any ground, there's literally no evidence. Might as well say Shellder evolves into Jinx
THE SHELL THAT GASTLY LOST BECAUSE THE SHELLDER ON SLOWBRO'S TAIL
THE BLACK BALL THING OF SHELLDER IS GONE BUT THE SHELL IS ON SLOWBRO
THE SHELL WAS TAKEN IN THE DIVORCE
IDC THAT THERE WAS A SCRAPPED SLOWBRO SHELL POKEMON, IT IS A DUMB THEORY FOR A REASON
Than my name probably wouldn't exist I've never played X or Y but I do love froakie so maybe my channel wouldn't change
Gastly is a dead shelder but shelder is also a split evolution from tangela , burmy and wobuffet ,
The ‘ghastly is a dead cloyster’ theory is fine, but I personally like the ‘cloyster is just a vagina’ theory better.
As for one theory that is going is about Spiritomb and especially how dark the lore is for it.
Actually when I was a kid and got my first Pokémon album, I thought Cloyster was the evolution of Gastly because they were so similar and also next to each other
I mean, wouldn't be the first piece of Pokemon lore that says Shelder has a split evolution (I.E: Slowpoke to Slowbro)
Stuff like this is exactly what Verlisify meant by you making things up.

Driftloon: Child kidnapper
Unovian Yamask: Carry masks that used to be their former faces from when they were still alive.
